Welcome to HomeHaven! Can you believe that it's already the first of October? I can't. Next thing I know Halloween will be here, we'll blink and be sitting at a Thanksgiving Dinner with Family and then...we'll be celebrating a lovely Christmas.

I hadn't planned on participating this week with Tablescape Thursday, but thought oh what the heck...I'm gonna. So here is a simple Tablescape that welcomes my Blogging Friends. God Bless and may you have a great time visiting all the Tablescapes that Susan is hosting over at her fantastic site Betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com

Thursday Chocolate at HomeHaven

Welcome to Home Haven! Blessed that you are visiting.

Isn't multi-tasking a gift from God? Wednesday I was taking advantage of this because I had a little bit more free time than I've had lately in the middle of the week.
Between blogging and doing laundry, I'm wrapping some boxes that will need mailed and looking over the bills. Then there's some Harvest decorating I'm squeezing in while I take some pictures of some nic-nacs I'm boxing up for a while until I can figure out where they should go since I'm shuffling some dishes to where these nic-nacs were.

The Diningroom table needs cleared off. It has become a catch all while we're remodeling. Just ate a lite lunch and feeling the tireds rolling in. Looking for some boxes to wrap some Christmas gifts in. Folding towels and desiring a nap! Just ran out of fabric softener and making a grocery list.

Need to slow down abit on Thursday. It seems like a good idea. The temperatures are chilling some and thought some Hot Chocolate would be in order on the front porch.

A few years ago I bought this replica white glazed Chocolate Pot from a Dodge City, Kansas Gift Shoppe at BOOT HILL. I didn't see any live Cowboys that day, but sure did enjoy the Gift Shoppe and Historical Features that are there. I will have to go again and snap pics for my Blog. I enjoy places like BOOT HILL and COWTOWN in Wichita. In a few days I will feature COWTOWN on my blog. I was just there this past week-end and oh how I love COWTOWN. Funny, but I didn't see any cows there either...just a bunch of Cowboys. Had a great time with my Daughter and Grand.

The little dainty cups didn't come with the pot. These pretties were from a thrift shop and since they're white as well, I use them together as well as to display them together in a china cabinet. They're unmarked as the chocolate pot is, so they're a match.

You want my Hot Chocolate Recipe??? Well, I had better think about that one a while.

So glad you were able to visit.
Next time I promise to have marshmallows,

Happy Feet

Happy Feet slipped into my wedding shoes August 31, 1974. Sentimental eyes look upon the pictures and weathered hands hold the actual shoes. I felt like a Princess that day. My Father walked me down a lawn aisle and gave my hand in marriage to my future Husband. Not an ounce of nervousness flowed through my veins as I walked down to meet my Beloved standing by the Minister that would officiate the Wedding Ceremony. This is what I wanted to do and with confidence I did it. I cannot fit into my dress these days, but the shoes still fit. Hallelujah! My Happy Feet have walked a walk as a Mrs. The following pictures are in sepia tone that were recently taken. My Wedding Veil with Headpiece, Dress, Shoes, dried Bouquet, Garter, Cake Topper, wedding pics of the married couple, napkins and sugar doves are featured.

My Mrs. walk has not been without joy and happiness, but it's not been a piece of cake either. There has been my fair share of sorrow, tears and emotional stretch marks. What a huge growing time and spiritual maturing marriage has nurtured. I have no desire to go through LIFE without my Lord and being filled with the Holy Ghost. The Holy Trinity is what gives meaning to LIFE and LIFE MORE ABUNDANTLY.

Perhaps you have never married or have said I DO many times. Perhaps your marriage took you places you never thought about going or the road was way too rocky and ended in divorce. It may never have been a bed of roses. May the Holy Spirit comfort you and guide you as you continue on in your life. May God Bless us all with who we are to be for this day.

35th Wedding Anniversary

When I said, "I do." I meant it. My example of what marriage was about was based off of what I saw in my Mom and Dad's marriage as I was growing into adulthood. I had no idea what marriage would bring in the reality of my own life. I had no idea that my own marriage would be what it is and would go through what it has gone through. I had no idea that three children would be created, birthed and nurtured in this marriage. I had no idea that I would relocate so often. I have learned as I have lived. Best to enjoy each day and lean on the Lord as He sees fit.

As I went through a cedar chest that houses my wedding dress, veil, shoes, dried bouquet, cake topper, and a few other items, my actual anniversary slipped by without posting about it. More pics to follow.
35 years ago on August 31st, 1974, I would marry my sweetheart and best friend.
Through the years sometimes he would be my sweetheart and sometimes my best friend. Sometimes, his face and voice are as comfortable to me as can be and other times I wonder what surprises we'll have to live through. I have learned what it means to enter into a covenant relationship. I have learned that so many others in this world ignore or are ignorant to what God meant when He said let NO man put asunder what God has joined together. When one is so busy doin' their own thang or holdin' hands with the devil, calamity will come. I would learn that it doesn't always take both husband and wife to break the promises or mistreat one another that cause injury, but would take three to mend, heal and keep the marriage together...husband, wife and Almighty God.
For now, I am in awe that 35 years have passed and we're man and wife.
More to follow,

Domestic Diva Part 2

Beloved, hope you had a great week-end and are off to a good start for this week. This past week-end I took a quick road trip with my Daughter (Beauty) and a Grand to an out of state Baby Shower where one of my sweet pregnant daughter-in-laws lives. We had a great time! Pics to follow sometime in the near future.

Visited with my tall son, daughter-in-law (Shell), 7 year old Grand and 2 year old Grand. We spent the night, visited, played and ate some of Shell's delicious Taco Soup. I wish I had taken a picture and shared with you. It is delicious and nutritious.

For the time being, here are some more pics of summer treasures. The Domestic Diva has some more treasures to showcase. I just luv these thrifty finds. When a watch cost a dollar, a piece of cut glass 75 cents, pretty doilies 75 cents, a milk glass cup/saucer that matches some dishes I already have cost a dollar, etc. my heart soars and it makes my day! The silver napkin ring holders were from Dillards still packaged and had not been used. Though there's no lid for the gold sugar bowl, it's so pretty and I thought I could put some small decorative artificial flowers in this for a nic-nac, only cost a quarter.

My experience on the thrift trail cost around $15.00. What is that, about 3 cups of fancy coffee?

I know that these are just things, but let's face it...it takes things to fill a home. Hallelujah! I have a home. I use my treasures, pass them around, give away, trade and display.

God Bless you. May your home be a place that you enjoy.
Ahhhhhh...Happy Heart~Happy Home~Happy Haven,

Domestic Diva

Some women have their Beauty appointments that make them feel satisfied and special. Others go clothing shopping, eat chocolate or go dancing. Drink fancy coffee, sing a song, phone a friend, sew a dress, decorate their homes, paint or draw. Write a letter, surf the internet, BLOG, visit shut-ins, read a book, write a book, bake, cook, design something, spend time with a love one, groom a pet, vaccuum their home, watch a movie, pull weeds, plant a plant, wash the car, mow the lawn, grocery shop, give themselves a facial, go fishing, ride a horse, search high and low for that special trinket or thrift buy. Drive others to locations, look over a school project, grade papers, paint our fingernails, take a walk. This could go on and on.

Being a Domestic Diva has its perks, but is it any wonder that we get tired over doing it just a bit.

What ever you do during the day may vary just like the weather. One of the things I grub up on is going to Garage Sales and Thrift Stores.

These pictures are from this past summer bargains and won't be in any special order. Wanted to showcase some of the thrifty buys that I collected.

Everything from doilies, glassware, dishes to books, metal trays and candles.

My Diva Experience set me back about $52.00. The smiles these purchases put on my face...Priceless! If you want to know what these treasures individually cost, I'd be glad to share.
What do you do that's satisfies your soul?
Have a wonderful week-end and remember to smile.

DECORATING

I knew a very frugal Lady named Edith that shared with me a excellent guideline for decorating. She said with ease, "If your room has clean ceilings, floors, and walls, and the windows have nice curtains, you'll have an attractive room."

John 3:7

“Marvel not that I said unto thee,

Ye must be born again.”

King James Version (KJV)

PSALM 118:17

I shall not die,
but live, and declare
the works of the Lord.

PROVERBS 24:3-4

By wisdom
a house is built,
and through understanding

it is established;
through
knowledge

its rooms are filled with rare

and beautiful treasures.

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS
SELECTING THE CORRECT SIZE CHANDY TO USE IN A ROOM MADE EASY. FORMULA MEASUREMENTS: Measure the room's height and width. Add together the numbers. Example: 8' x 10' room is 8 plus 10= 18" Use a 18" wide chandy. OR Take width of room calculating 2" for every foot. Example: 15' wide room. Take 15 times 2 = 30. Room needs 30" wide chandy. Standard distance between the bottom of the chandelier to the top of the table is 30 inches. When hanging the chandelier, make sure to hang it at the proper height. The bottom of a chandelier over a dining table or kitchen island should hang 30 to 32 inches above the top of the table or island. Most rooms call for at least 7 feet of space between the bottom of the chandelier and the floor.

WISHES

NO MATTER HOW BADLY YOU WISH with all your might that the something devastating that happened in your life hadn't happened and want so badly to go back in time to prevent it from happening...it isn't humanly possible to do this. You can't change the fact that it happened. IT DID. But JESUS can change the MEANING of what happened to you and give you PEACE. He can show you the way in which you are to go. God richly BLESS you. ~Deanna
