Pollyanna...have you seen it?

As a five year old child, my Parents took me to see the 1960 Disney movie POLLYANNA.

Enjoyed the movie very much.  

Daughter recently suggested we watch it.  I could only remember the scene where the Reverend gave a fiery sermon then later his heart was softened by Pollyanna and has a complete change of heart about life. 

Reverend: The happy texts?

Pollyanna: Yes. Like, um, ‘Shout for joy,’ or, ‘Be glad in the

 Lord.’ You know, like that… There are eight hundred happy

texts, did you know that?

Reverend: No, I didn’t know that.

Pollyanna: And do you know, my father said that if God

 took the trouble to tell us eight hundred times to be glad and 

rejoice, He must have wanted us to do it.

I didn't cry when I was a little girl.

This go round there were 

tears.

Perhaps my heart has softened.

As an old woman watching this movie verses having seen it as a 5 year old child, 
I think my understanding deepened.

If it's been a while since you've seen it, 

perhaps you'd enjoy seeing POLLYANNA again.
If you've not watched Pollyanna.....you might consider.

Granny Nanny and HEAVEN

On an outing with Lil Miss and Daughter, 

the subject of HEAVEN came up.  

As we were chit- chatting, Lil Miss said, 

"Heaven has streets made of diamonds, windows made of crystal 
and houses made of CHOCOLATE!"

We chuckled.

  

What a wonderful place this would be.  

It would seem like a heavenly place to those that 

LOVE CHOCOLATE.  

Wouldn't you say?

SUGAR-FREE CANDIES

 I've tried the Pecan Delights, Coconut, Toffee, Mint Patty and Chocolate Truffles.  
By far the Pecan Delights are my favorite.  
Chewy sweet consistency. 

The Russell Stover SUGAR-FREE Candy is the best sugar-free candy I have ever sampled.  Hubby is diabetic WE discovered that the sugar-free candies are a treat.  He has done very well about cutting way back on sweets since being diagnosed as having Adult On-Set Type 2 Diabetes controlled by diet and exercise.

Often he ends his evenings with a glass of milk and graham crackers.  During the day he snacks on nuts and administers olive oil to his diet.  Prayer enters in.  Little diet soda.  Increase the water.    

His blood sugar numbers are excellent and proved the doctor wrong that the numbers never lower.  His did.  

I made gifts with sugar-free candies 

in cellophane wrapped coffee cups.

Liked how they turned out.

For some reason I thought that because these Pecan Delights 

are sugar-free that they didn't have very many calories.  

Excuse me while I gather my composure.

They do have quite a few calories.  Two pieces are considered a serving at 160 calories a pop.

One will have to discipline oneself and not make a piglet out of oneself when eating these delicious sugar-free chocolates with real pecans and c-h-e-w-y caramel filling.

What kind of sound does a piglet make?

Granny Nanny and Career Considerations

Lil Miss bundled up for the cold weather.  Wouldn't you say that children are generally extremely active and full of questions?  What was of interest one day may not be interesting the next.

It's common for children to share what they want to be when they grow up and most of the time it's in the form of a career, not about character.

Lil Miss has stated what she wants to be when she grows up.  A Librarian.  A Music Teacher.  A this.  A that.  A Mother.  A Grandmother.  A Dance Studio Owner.  It changes from time to time.

Careers are talked about at school and encouraged.  Little Boys and Little Girls are encouraged to think about working jobs and making money.  Wife, Homemaker, Stay At Home Mom, Sunday School Teacher, Domestic Diva, and Estate Planner are not high on the list of priorities. 

I said to her one day, "Why don't you grow up to be a woman of integrity."  

She questioned and asked, "What's that?"

I see that we have some talking to do.
