Hello Dear Friend. How ya doin?
By Friday Evening last week my whole body was hurtin'!!! At 55, I feel it. I feel it in my bones and I feeeeel it in my muscles when I have had a full day of lifting, carrying, standing, walking, etc. By bedtime it was difficult for my 'ole body to turn over in bed. A good reason to pace myself when I know company is coming and the house is a pit.........
Though my body ACHED, my SPIRIT was soaring because I knew that the chores were done and Family was safely resting.
Have to stay flexible.....two weeks before Family was to come in, we were tidying away making preparations in the house and lawn work. Large amounts of rain caused the yard to be difficult to mow. Hubby and I have been thinking about future planting and moving plants in our prairie jungle. This part was fun! The geraniums that we tried to winter in the cellar...well they didn't make it. The pots were placed back outside with dead plants. Will be going geranium shopping this week.
I have had geraniums on my front porch for years. Love them. Pretty PRAIRIE hardy. I would like to find some soft pink ones this year. Better hurry, they are going fast.
On the side yard by the garage we had white and soft pink Peonies starting to bloom.
The fragrance was like a sweet smelling perfume.
Later we used the pink ones
for my sister's wedding anniversary.
Three weeks ago we made a mad dash to Liberal, Kansas and Guymon, Oklahoma to visit the in-laws. Miracle in the making. I haven't explained very much about this relationship. Perhaps I will later. It has been estranged for 3 years. Very touchy thing. We visited mother-in-law in nursing home and stayed the night with father-in-law.
In one day, my husband visited with his mom and dad in person, talked on the phone with one of his brothers that in the past gave reasons to never talk to again,
to another brother in Arizona and saw another brother in person. It's a miracle. I'm very human. I still have to use HUGE amounts of discipline with this side of the family. Perhaps some day I will explain.

Me and my huny about ten years ago.
Drove around my old Home Town of Liberal, Kansas and sighed.
It has changed so much, my heart hurt. I still have fond memories of my childhood there. Thankful for that, but the town has morphed into something else. Went by my childhood houses, three of our houses we lived in while we were a young married couple. Place my huny lived when dating me. House a brother lived in when hubby and I were dating also my sis/bro-in-law's house as a young married couple.
College we went to when dating. Old dorm room building. I have a new added appreciation that I am living where I am today. Today counts.
While driving the distance to Liberal, saw the sights with WIND GENERATORS on the way out there and then home again.
Went to Boot Hill just to see if they still had some white porcelain china to add to my Cowboy China. It was a no-go....but I sampled some of their fudge from the GENERAL STORE and left with a sweet smile on my face. MAPLE NUT FUDGE? Yes, this will put a smile on my face....so I took some with me so I could be smiling all the way while in our tiny car.

FOR YOU SPORT'S FANS thought you might like seeing this November 14, 1998 photograph. We ate at a restaurant that had this original signed photograph of a Kansas State University Football Game with Nebraska. IT'S A REAL HEAD TURNER. This photograph made the cover of Sports Illustrated. Notice Nebraska Number 7 Eric Crouch's helmet. I don't know if Number 50 TRAVIS OAKS was penalized or not....hum. Kansas State WON the game. Hubby says Number 50 was NOT penalized. Nebraska goes for it on 4th down late in it's loss to Kansas State. No penalty was called. The big controversy on this was that the Ref didn't see this violation, but the photographer captured it on film. What do you think? Number 50 knew what he had done........Face Mask Call. I've lived in Nebraska and I've lived in Kansas. Integrity means something to me.
LET'S TAKE A CLOSER LOOK!
That brings us into Spring cleaning before the Family came to visit. In all honesty, the upstair hallway was junksville. I am into recovering from thyroid cancer and I admit my housekeeping has suffered right along with me. My piles of decorating magazines that I like to hang onto....got some attention and were moved. The Hallway was cleaned up AND IT'S A MIRACLE IN THE MAKING. A miracle.
My daughter was surprised that her momma actually threw some magazines away. Threw them away!!! Threw them away and threw them away. See Ash, miracles do happen! Grins. Your old momma has some surprises up her sleeve.
We continued to tidy the Master Bedroom to make room for company. Daughter set up her daybed in her Sitting Room and turned it back into her Bedroom. Lil Miss's youth bed disappeared and she is now sleeping in a Queen-size bed.
The Family room was dusted and floors vacuumed. Dining room reclaimed from being used as a staging area. We have been sorting through things and guess where they end up? Will make a BIG effort not to do this again. Effort.
Home Haven Happenings continued over Memorial Day Week-end. Family came in and we celebrated my Sister and Bro-in-law's 40th Wedding Anniversary!!! Wonderful time. Pics to follow. More on that later.
Memorial Day...I didn't decorate graves this year, but decorated my soul with Family Memories.
Blow the trumpet and salute.
Thoughts on Memorial Day: I live in a country where dreams do come true and I have many freedoms due to those who have given their lives for our country so I can continue to live in a country with freedoms. Freedom isn't free. It cost something.
A Nation that's God is Almighty God is BLESSED.
PSALM 33:12 Blessed is the Nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.
PSALM 33:22 Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.
Memorial Day week-end was WONDERFUL.
