SPRING CLEANING SEMINAR

WE'VE GONE FROM A HOT SUMMER'S DAY AT 84 degrees on Tuesday to a windy Wednesday at 41 degrees in the fine state of Kansas.  Like a flip of a switch, it's WINTER all over again.  We get a sample of Spring/Summer weather to tease us and then wham, we're back to wearing jackets and long sleeved tops.

Yesterday, I went to Topeka for a SENIOR UNIVERSITY MEETING with featured speakers talking about HOW TO DECLUTTER one's home and mind.

SPRING CLEANING-TIPS FOR CLEARING CLUTTER FROM YOUR HOME AND HEAD.

Basically if you are able to declutter your environment, then your mind will be less bothered with mental clutter.  Basically.  Sales pitches for the services of certain businesses were included by the majority of the speakers.  Just part of the price you pay waiting to hear Dr. "Walt" from the Menninger Dynasty speak in person.

The entire program overall was interesting and informative, but when it came to the noted finale speaker, Dr. Walt Menninger, he did not speak on decluttering your mind or creating your best self.  Later it would hit me that he didn't talk about such stuff.

Much of this wasn't noticed as I found everything he shared a nugget of entertainment.  I had no idea what he was going to say, but truthfully, I know little about him.  I read his Grandmother's book a few years back knowing The Menninger Family put TOPEKA on the map when it comes to the mental health illness arena.

The Menninger Clinic was moved to Houston back in 2003 when they partnered with Baylor College of Medicine and I think Dr. Walt remained behind in Topeka after he retired in 2001.  He still lives in Topeka and sings in the choir of the church he attends.

He's presently 94 years old and sat beside the co-author and writer, Todd Fertig of his latest memoir book, LIKE WHAT YOU DO The Memoirs of Dr. Walt Menninger by Dr. Walt Menninger with Todd Fertig.

By the time we greeted Dr. Walt, the books were sold out, so Todd took our names and said he'd get some books to us somehow.

In order to have a bright outlook on life, don't you need to have a liking for what you do?  Can this be achieved by a cheery attitude even if you dislike the task they lies before you?

We girls with ROYALTY.

Doctor Walt and me.

AFTER we said our goodbyes for the day, I drove over to GOD'S STOREHOUSE for a Hibiscus Iced Tea and to browse the aisles just looking for whatever.  I found three size 5 boy's shirts that should fit my youngest grandchild, a miniature purse, a King size brightly colored bedspread.  I couldn't resist on the bedspread.  I liked the pattern and brightness for a spread.  It will probably go on the bed in the pink bedroom to brighten up the COTTAGE.

My hip was starting to hurt by the time I got HOME.  I was sitting the majority of the time at the gathering and driving the car HOME was no problem.  NO NAP on Tuesday.  I dozed off in the evening and by the time the lights when out, I was ready to dream big things.

My hip and leg feel so much better today, but I still am not 100 percent.  Waiting patiently for the limp to go away.

Middle of the week for heaven's sake.  Again the week is flying.  I am in slow-motion taking it easy as to rest my leg and hip.  Praying I get better.

DECORATING

I knew a very frugal Lady named Edith that shared with me a excellent guideline for decorating. She said with ease, "If your room has clean ceilings, floors, and walls, and the windows have nice curtains, you'll have an attractive room."

John 3:7

Marvel not that I said unto thee,

Ye must be born again.

King James Version (KJV)

PSALM 118:17

I shall not die,
but live, and declare
the works of the Lord.

PROVERBS 24:3-4

By wisdom
a house is built,
and through understanding

it is established;
through
knowledge

its rooms are filled with rare

and beautiful treasures.

BLOSSOM WHERE YOU ARE PLANTED
As long as I live, I will have to continually submit to God's plan for my life. You will be blessed because you turned your life over to God. Be confessing how good God is and tell Him you agree with who He says He is. BELIEVE and watch miracles happen. Be not afraid. ~Deanna

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS
SELECTING THE CORRECT SIZE CHANDY TO USE IN A ROOM MADE EASY. FORMULA MEASUREMENTS: Measure the room's height and width. Add together the numbers. Example: 8' x 10' room is 8 plus 10= 18" Use a 18" wide chandy. OR Take width of room calculating 2" for every foot. Example: 15' wide room. Take 15 times 2 = 30. Room needs 30" wide chandy. Standard distance between the bottom of the chandelier to the top of the table is 30 inches. When hanging the chandelier, make sure to hang it at the proper height. The bottom of a chandelier over a dining table or kitchen island should hang 30 to 32 inches above the top of the table or island. Most rooms call for at least 7 feet of space between the bottom of the chandelier and the floor.

WISHES

NO MATTER HOW BADLY YOU WISH with all your might that the something devastating that happened in your life hadn't happened and want so badly to go back in time to prevent it from happening...it isn't humanly possible to do this. You can't change the fact that it happened. IT DID. But JESUS can change the MEANING of what happened to you and give you PEACE. He can show you the way in which you are to go. God richly BLESS you. ~Deanna
