LIFE UNDER A SHADE TREE

THIS AFTERNOON AS I WAS OUTSIDE SNAPPING PICTURES of the Hostas in bloom, I stood under the shade tree looking upwards toward one of the room's windows that has four windows grouped together.  In the shade, I admitted out loud that I like this house.

We need to replace the old style door ringer as this one is partially missing.  I got kind of excited that we are LIVING here on the corner.  It has taken some time to admit that I like living here on the corner.  The cooler weather helped me perk up and admit that I am HAPPY HERE.

Elsewhere we lived on the corner of a state street and a number street, but still on a corner.  Four houses we have lived in have been on a corner.  THINK I must be partial to living on a corner with a large side yard.  I'm looking forward to AUTUMN where I can sit some PUMPKINS outside and watch the leaves twirl down toward the ground.  Start thinking about CHRISTMAS decorating with oversized ornaments in the trees.  Wish I had a SANTA that would wave from the window at passer- byers.  I still wonder if we will do cutouts of VICTORIAN SINGERS dressed up in formal clothing.  THINK I may start looking for some characters.  The house is from 1883 so this will be the year more than likely that I will copy.

It has been almost 3 years since our horrible house fire across the river in Small town America.  It has been troublesome to me to relax about moving on.  I tried to relax.  Today, I believe I relaxed a tad.  I wasn't ready to leave our old rock house.  We had been there close to ten years.  The longest of any place we have lived as a married couple.  I thought we'd be there forevah.  It represented that we were still a married couple that stay married and was living together after the storm.

The fire changed our direction about houses.  When we left, we thought we'd be downsizing into what we called RETIREMENT COTTAGE.  We were there for a short time before our fire recovery boxes returned to us to where we had to store them in a storage unit.  The house we are presently living in went on the market and we bought her.

Slowly our furniture that had to be refurbished returned to our new location.  We ordered Living room furniture, new mattresses, area rugs and bought a victorian bed with dresser.  A new television set, microwave that has already gone Kaput, some appliances like a fridge, dishwasher, stove, vacuum sweeper had to be purchased.  Sheets, towels and kitchen utensils, dishes, pots n pans, etc.  Like starting out.  Though we handled this ordeal, I think we were in a type of SHOCK while going through the motions.

AS I WALKED THE YARD.....I like days like today where it isn't so HOT outside with a cool breeze is blowing.  Makes me feel young again.  SHADE under the big trees.  81 degrees with low 44% humidity.  Suppose to get into the 50s tonight.  LORD... LORD, that will be wonderful.  Wonderful.

Hubby dug the HOSTAS up bringing them with us when we left the rock house.  They stayed in buckets for a while and then he planted them along our house on the shady side.  The Hostas have bloomed and like the shade they are living in here.  It is a nice sight to see.

DECORATING

I knew a very frugal Lady named Edith that shared with me a excellent guideline for decorating. She said with ease, "If your room has clean ceilings, floors, and walls, and the windows have nice curtains, you'll have an attractive room."

John 3:7

Marvel not that I said unto thee,

Ye must be born again.

King James Version (KJV)

PSALM 118:17

I shall not die,
but live, and declare
the works of the Lord.

PROVERBS 24:3-4

By wisdom
a house is built,
and through understanding

it is established;
through
knowledge

its rooms are filled with rare

and beautiful treasures.

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS
SELECTING THE CORRECT SIZE CHANDY TO USE IN A ROOM MADE EASY. FORMULA MEASUREMENTS: Measure the room's height and width. Add together the numbers. Example: 8' x 10' room is 8 plus 10= 18" Use a 18" wide chandy. OR Take width of room calculating 2" for every foot. Example: 15' wide room. Take 15 times 2 = 30. Room needs 30" wide chandy. Standard distance between the bottom of the chandelier to the top of the table is 30 inches. When hanging the chandelier, make sure to hang it at the proper height. The bottom of a chandelier over a dining table or kitchen island should hang 30 to 32 inches above the top of the table or island. Most rooms call for at least 7 feet of space between the bottom of the chandelier and the floor.

WISHES

NO MATTER HOW BADLY YOU WISH with all your might that the something devastating that happened in your life hadn't happened and want so badly to go back in time to prevent it from happening...it isn't humanly possible to do this. You can't change the fact that it happened. IT DID. But JESUS can change the MEANING of what happened to you and give you PEACE. He can show you the way in which you are to go. God richly BLESS you. ~Deanna
