Hello Beloved

Hello Beloved.
I made a conscious effort to be happy today.

This is the LIFE.
The family room window is open behind me where I sit in a lumpy bumpy green colored chair to type on the blog.  The wind is blowing and the spring air is fresh.  Birds are chirping and a train just went by.   Small town sounds can be heard outside.  A few trucks went by.  Church bells chime and I can hear the distant sound of the local Grain Elevator h u m m i n g with activity.

Some brave soul is out mowing a lawn.  Our time will be coming....our yard's grass has quickly grown due to rain we were blessed to have.

SPRING KLEENING DAY banner is displayed in the WINNIE THE POOH movie about eestur (Easter) eggs on the television while 5 year old Lil Miss plays with her Strawberry Shortcake figurines on the floor.  Full length feature rated for GENERAL AUDIENCES is the WINNIE THE POOH: Springtime with ROO movie from the Public Library.  Think it is pleasant for viewing.  No overly graphic crime programs here.

Lunch is over and I'm sipping some hot Golden French Toast flavored Mountain Coffee blended with creamer out of a red pottery cup.  This would be a great breakfast beverage.

Lil Miss had Princess Chicken Soup, Strawberries, Cottage Cheese and Apple Juice to drink.  Afternoon snack will be Graham Cracker Cookies with PINK Frosting.  We made these together again today.  After they're placed in the fridge for an hour or so....they taste even better if you ask me.  Sticky fingers and frosting just seem to go together.

CHILDCARE 101:  When tending to little children....there will be messes made and accidents that happen.  No need to have a cow over the messes.  They are just a part of every day life.  Take a deep breath.  Expect them and aim for a gentle spirit.

A load of my husband's work clothes are washing in the machine and another load in the dryer.  Folded some towels already and placed them in the bathroom.

Break time.  Need to freshen up a tad before I go to the Post Office.  The Easter Baskets are completed and brown wrapped packages are ready to mail.  Pat myself on the back.

Enjoying the way area rugs feel under my bare feet that are newly placed on the Dining room floor.  They've been in place for 5 days.
This time next year.......there will be NO FRIDGE in the Dining room.  It will actually be back in the made over Kitchen.  The place where the fridge sits at present will free up space in the Dining room.

This Summer, I hope to take out of storage a dinette set and replace the over sized table that we're using right now.  It feels more like we are newly weds getting a start than marrieds for 37 years.  Staying young at heart.....having a flexible attitude helps.  Help!

Last night, I picked Lilacs from one of our bushes and placed them in a vase on the Dining room table.  The fragrance is refreshing.  Our Lilacs are early this year just like our Spring.  At least 6 weeks early.  Enjoying this time of year and don't mind it coming early.  Figure our Summer will be hot.  HOT.

Looking forward to a Date Night with the Mister.  Fancy Coffee and Conversation.

The week-end is coming.  Heart week-ends.
Have a super day,
d

Home Haven Happy Meal

Spaghetti does it......lots of tomatoes in the meat sauce
adds flavor to savor.

Add a side salad with
croutons plus a refreshing beverage
and you have a decent American Meal
at Home Haven.

Some of my favorite meals are Spaghetti, grilled Hamburgers, Pizza, Tacos, Baked Ham, Pot Roast, and Sandwiches.  Not much for gourmet.........nothing extra fancy, but still wonderful.
Have a delicious day and may your Spring be sweet.
God bless,

Easter Hat

Found this image at Raisingourkids.com

Just about to wrap up all the Easter Baskets for the Grandchildren.  Have plans to get these in the mail on Friday.  Each basket is different...just like the children themselves.  Each one has their own personality.

When my Grandma Anna was alive, she'd hold up her 10 fingers because she had 10 living children at the time and say that each child was loved.  Not one more than the other.

There is room in our hearts to love each child.  No matter how many you have.

Easter isn't so far away.  When my children were young, they would each get new clothing for Easter Day.  A Easter Basket was waiting for them to enjoy.  We'd go to Church to worship and celebrate THE RISEN LORD.  Resurrection Sunday.

I had very little funds to purchase clothing.  We managed.  Money can do alot for people when it's used as a tool to Bless your family, friends, loved ones and those in need.  My children never went to Church or School in dirty, ratty clothing. Praise the Lord and thanks to a working wash machine, running water and electricity.

I remember looking at the little girl's Easter hats at K-Mart and thinking I can't buy a new one for my daughter.  It grieved me somewhat.  At the time I had no hand me downs for her or a Thrift Shop to buy from.  There wasn't a Easter Clothing Ministry known of.  Hummmmm....A Easter Clothing Ministry at a Church would be a good thing.

Looking back...I was young myself and my thoughts could have been more focused on the LIVING GOD.  Hats are important, but one's focus on the Christian meaning of Resurrection Sunday is far more important.  It's alright to wear older clothing at Easter.  Older clothing can wash up rather nicely.  Smiles.

My focus these days is to celebrate the risen LORD.  The new life that people can have while alive through Christ.  Many know about God, but don't know Him.

They've heard about Him, but have never experienced that moment that they have received His forgiveness and His Spirit through accepting Christ as their own Lord and acknowledged that they need Him for their own.  They don't know that without Christ as their personal Saviour they are still in need of regeneration.  It is through Christ that you can get to personally know your heavenly Father God.

They don't know that they can personally know Him for themselves.  They don't know that they can spend time with Him in personal prayer and be in His presence right now.

Some get irritated with believers.  It's because their hearts aren't right with God.  That part of their heart that doesn't believe truth gets so angry.  That part of their heart that doesn't want God to be God gets mad.  That part of them that rebels against a Holy God and wants to still have it their own way gets angry. That part of their soul that hasn't bowed their knee to His Lordship gets irritated.

They may mock you and your faith.

MOCK.....mock.......mock......mock.....mock.  Sounds like a chicken, doesn't it?

I was once there and I know.  Some just don't believe the truth.  Jesus is THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE....no one comes to the Father, but through Jesus.  No one.

Your prayers won't be heard.  You'll continue to live in darkness and not understand the things of God.  You'll suffer.  Calamity will come.  And you'll continue to not understand.

Ye must be born again.  Through Christ.  He is who He says He is.  Yes, He is a holier God....He is the LIVING GOD.  You have to embrace Him for yourself and believe.  Until you've been born anew, you'll never be able to walk uprightly before the LORD.  Never.  Until you surrender and lay it all down at the foot of the cross you are the walking dead.  Dead.

If this information has irritated you....perhaps your heart isn't right with God.

As Jesus said Himself,
It is difficult to kick against the pricks.

1 JOHN 5:11-13
11) And the witness is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
12) He who has the Son has life, he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
13) These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, in order that you may know that you have eternal lives.

up before the sun came up

Woke before the sun came out this morning.  Fixed some coffee and listened to distant thunder rumble.  Walked about the home leaving the lights off and took a few pictures of the Parlor and newly arranged Dining room that will get downladed later. As I sat and cruised the internet the rain started.

Very shortly lived.  I wrote out on paper what I hope to get accomplished today.  Laundry will have to wait till WASH WEDNESDAY.  It feels like Monday to me.  Hubby was home yesterday and in my head it's just now Monday.  We worked together on Spring cleaning.  Not done, but we got a lot accomplished.  Hope to finish tidying our Bedroom in the evenings this week.

Like the rearranged Dining room.  The two area rugs made their way there.  Eventually the Dinette we have in storage will be revamped and the large HEAVY table will go away to where the room will welcome a smaller table with four chairs.

The walls need worked over.  May take the old wallpaper down, repair some cracks and paint the room.  Something bright!

This week-end we had the house to ourselves.  Daughter and Grand went to Saint Louis this past week-end to visit our son who recently separated from his wife.  Much to say about this as time passes.

This morning I actually had some quiet time before childcare duties start.  Lil Miss will be bouncing about in a few minutes.  I heard her footsteps echo down the hall.

The rain stopped and the birds are chirping.  I love it when the doves coo and the sound can be heard coming through the window.

Have a pleasant Spring day.
I hope to,
d

Spring Cleaning

The weather is lovely and the windows are open letting fresh air into our old stone house.  What a glorious week-end we have had.

Spring cleaning has started with the rearranging of the dining room and major deep cleaning in the master bedroom.  Thinking about removing the matching area rugs from the bedrooms and placing them in the dining room for the time being.  The linoleum floor in the dining room will eventually be replaced, but until that time, the rugs would dress up the room and add to the formality.

At present time, the dining room table is being cleared off!!!  She's my staging place that catches everything from thrift buys, to a place for the makings of Easter baskets.  You can actually see wood.  Grins and double grins.  I placed a crystal vase with yellow daffodils and purple irises on the table and then moved them to the sideboard that is now sitting in natural lighting by the oversized window.  Like it there.

The baskets for the Grandchildren are close to being completed and in the mail.

Yard work will begin in April.

For today, my sweet hubby is my sidekick.  He's the muscle around here!  I only partially have a heave ho in me to shuffle and lift heavy items.  Thank you Sweetheart for all the help.

Better go sip some coffee and then onto today's cleaning.

God bless and thanks for stopping by.
Now I must get back to the heave ho,

THE SONG OF SOLOMON Chapter 2: verses 11, 12 and 13
11) For lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone;
12) The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land;
13) The fig tree putteth forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grape give a good smell.  Arise my love, my fair one, and come away.

Decorating On The Prairie: Roses For The Day

SWEET AND SIMPLE!

Decorating On The Prairie
wouldn't be the same without roses.
They naturally sweeten the air you breathe, but in the dead of winter good smelling roses are hard to come by.

So HOME HAVEN embraces artificial ones and looks at them like they're eye candy.
This was one of those THRIFTY buys, I picked up during the cold months and placed in the Powder Room.

For a decorating idea, this wouldn't be too difficult to copy.

Nothing beats God's NATURAL beauty, but artificial flowers are still one of my favorite manmade things.

Have a BLESSED LIFE.
GOD is good and HIS mercies are new every morning.
And that's not artificial.
d

LAMENTATIONS 3:22-23
It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed,
because his compassions fail not.
They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Home Haven Homemaking Lesson with Soups

It's been right at a year since I've posted from the book
THE ART OF COOKING AND SERVING
by Sarah Field Splint.

This book is nearly 86 years old and filled with wonderful information and recipes.
Some things are worth hanging onto.

Wish I had shared earlier when the weather was colder,
but soups are delicious anytime.

God Bless your meal times

deception 101

Why do people lie?
If you're talking about lying to others or self....in a nutshell the answer would be TO DECEIVE.

PROVERBS 6:16-19
lists a "lying tongue" and "a false witness who pours out lies" as 2 of the 7 abominations to the LORD.

PROVERBS 12:22
Lying lips are an abomination to the LORD, but they that deal truly are his delight.

PROVERBS 19:5
A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.

An ABOMINATION is anything greatly disliked or abhorred.  Intense aversion or loathing; detestation.  A vile, shameful, or detestable action, condition, habit.  Hatred, corruption, depravity.

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet,

Lustron Houses

Made of steel, coated with porcelain enamel, Lustron Homes were manufactered like cars and transported across the USA.

internet picture

The first Lustron house was produced in March 1948 and over the next two years 2,498 Lustron Homes were manufactured.  In Columbus, Ohio the steel houses were made like cars on conveyor belts in a former aircraft plant.

The completed house cost between $7,000.oo and $10,000.oo not including the foundation and the lot.  Assembled in about 2 weeks on concrete slats using nuts and bolts.

At the end of World War II, President Harry Truman pressured builders and suppliers to construct affordable housing because the US didn't have enough housing for twelve million soldiers returning home.  Inventor Carl Strandlund vowed to mass produce steel houses at the rate of 100 a day and landed $37 million in government loans.

Order for some 20,000 Lustron Homes poured in, but by 1950 the Lustron Corporation was bankrupt.

There is one of these Lustron Houses down the street from us.  Have you seen one of these in person?  I'd like to see the interior of one.

day one of spring

Hope I learn my lesson SOON and never leave home without my camera.  My trac phone doesn't have a camera so I'll have to carry one in my handbag.

Had a Salad for LUNCH with my Hubby.  Last night I decided....yes....it's time for salads.  Lord willing I will eat lots of salad before my July Birthday.  Lord willing....i will survive!!!

It's the first day of SPRING and a gentle rain sprinkles the earth here on the Prairie.  As I unloaded some groceries, I noticed the flower bed and stood amazed at how fast the plants have grown from just a week ago.  Tulips are opening up.  Better get out there and snap some pics before the sun goes down.

Can't.....it's raining.  Will later.  Maybe tomorrow.

Since it's raining, I'll thumb through some books.

Off to pleasant start and SPRING HAS SPRUNG,
God bless and may you be refreshed,

Spring 2012

SPRING HAS SPRUNG!

Spring is a favorite of mine as nature comes to life with splashes of colors in plants blooming forth, trees starting to sprout with tender leaves, flowers popping out and milder temperatures in the air.  With Spring comes tornadic storms, winds and thunderous rains that pass through the atmosphere that quiet down and go away while a beautiful day awakens.  Kind of like LIFE.  Sometimes there are storms that subside and better days are ahead.

Can it be true......SPRING is truly here.

Have a pleasant Spring!

Recipe For A Happy Home

image found on internet

Sweet blessings to you.
I came across this image and thought it would be great to share for a MARRIAGE MONDAY post.

Something I think would enhance this recipe towel would be the reminder to pray together as Husband and Wife.  Also as a Family.  Saying I love you and need you.  Don't go to bed angry.  Don't let the sun go down on your anger.  Ephesians 4:26 and 27 states BE YE ANGRY, AND SIN NOT; let not the sun go down upon your wrath:  Neither give place to the devil.

May we have HAPPY HOMES that are a special place away from the world.  A SAFE HAVEN to call our own and warm our hearts.

Decorating On The Prairie: Green Bling

Bling * Bling * Bling

Decorating On The Prairie wouldn't be complete without wearing some BLING!!!

St. Patrick's Day has come and gone.

My day was quiet.
Somewhat refreshing.
Suppose to wear GREEN on St. Pat's DAY?
I've sported a little green
for this special day.

GREEN BLING was a THRIFTY buy.
$12 is all.

St. Patrick's Day is probably the most widely celebrated saints day in the world.
"The wearing of the green",
meaning to wear a shamrock on one's clothing derives from a song of the same name.

In a nutshell,
16 year old Patrick from Britain
was kidnapped by Irish raiders and taken to Ireland.  He'd escape from captivity after God spoke to him in a dream and return to Britain to study.

He'd return to Ireland to preach
the Gospel, the GOOD NEWS of Jesus Christ.
It isn't by your personal works that you enter into a rightful relationship with God, or inherit salvation and eternal life...it is by accepting the deity of Christ and what HE did on the cross for mankind
as your Saviour.  He's the one that paid the price so we can be a child of God when we ask Christ to forgive us of our sins and be our Saviour.

He did the work and like He said, "It is finished!"
THE BEST NEWS OF ALL.

I enjoy wearing bling.
Don't you?
Have a blessed life,
d

EASTER GARDEN

Hello Beloved.
May you have a sweet week-end that's refreshing and up lifting.

This EASTER GARDEN is a nice way to focus on EASTER with the empty tomb remembered because JESUS rose from the grave.

HE isn't dead.  The grave couldn't keep HIM.
HE's alive!!!

Starting to get my bunnies out to represent SPRING and EASTER.

With Jesus as your personal Saviour and LORD......you're a winner.

God Bless and shine on,

Home Happenings

Mid-week has been heavenly with the weather being in the low 80s.  Blue skies and gentle breeze.  Time to hang the Spring Wreaths on the front doors and open some windows to where the fresh air comes in.

I felt a sense of satisfaction finding what was stinking in our fridge.  Took everything out and washed all of the inside of the fridge.  Lil Miss helped me and she sure liked the washing part.  The fridge smelled like a brand NEW one.  Nice.  It won't last, but for now the fridge is superly in order.  Like it that way.

Later in the day, we went to the Post Office.  Picked up our mail then took a leisurely drive.  I LOVE this time of year where there are splashes of color as if it all happened over night.

We did a little Yard Work and admired the Flowerbed Flowers blooming.  Took time to DAY DREAM about what to do to the Flowerbed in April and May.  Lil Miss played Dinosaurs in the dirt.

As we waited for Hubby and Daughter to come Home from Work, we sat in the car with the windows down as the Beach Boys sang away.  I exercised as I sat.  Felt great and think it's a nice way to ease into old lady exercise.  Then I made a conscious decision to sit on the porch to drink in the pleasant weather.  Sweet happenings.

Today, Lil Miss had to get a shot.......so ahead of time I told her that we'd go looking for sticky earrings for little girls and little girl Perfume.  We found HELLO KITTY Perfume for her and Heidi Klum's SHINE for meeeee.

We shopped at ALDI's for a few needed items.  Drove to one of our THRIFT SHOPS and picked up a few things.  The Disney Movie SLEEPING BEAUTY cost a quarter.  Picked up a Boyds Collection LIL PETEY Bunny for a quarter!  What a deal.

A few weeks ago, when I stopped off at the ETC. Shop in Hillsboro, Kansas.....the bunnies were everywhere.  I wish now I had bought some.  They look sweet popping up in the house.

This evening......think I'll rest a bit and watch a movie.  Friday isn't very far off.

SPRING IS SO CLOSE I can smell it.

DECORATING

I knew a very frugal Lady named Edith that shared with me a excellent guideline for decorating. She said with ease, "If your room has clean ceilings, floors, and walls, and the windows have nice curtains, you'll have an attractive room."

Marvel not that I said unto thee,

Ye must be born again.

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS
SELECTING THE CORRECT SIZE CHANDY TO USE IN A ROOM MADE EASY. FORMULA MEASUREMENTS: Measure the room's height and width. Add together the numbers. Example: 8' x 10' room is 8 plus 10= 18" Use a 18" wide chandy. OR Take width of room calculating 2" for every foot. Example: 15' wide room. Take 15 times 2 = 30. Room needs 30" wide chandy. Standard distance between the bottom of the chandelier to the top of the table is 30 inches. When hanging the chandelier, make sure to hang it at the proper height. The bottom of a chandelier over a dining table or kitchen island should hang 30 to 32 inches above the top of the table or island. Most rooms call for at least 7 feet of space between the bottom of the chandelier and the floor.

WISHES

NO MATTER HOW BADLY YOU WISH with all your might that the something devastating that happened in your life hadn't happened and want so badly to go back in time to prevent it from happening...it isn't humanly possible to do this. You can't change the fact that it happened. IT DID. But JESUS can change the MEANING of what happened to you and give you PEACE. He can show you the way in which you are to go. God richly BLESS you. ~Deanna
