MEETING MY GREAT GRANDBABY AT EASTER TIME

2026 EASTER SERVICES WERE EXPERIENCED AT LIFE CHURCH IN BROKEN ARROW, OKLAHOMA with my Hubby, Oldest Son and Daughter-in-Law, grandson M, granddaughter A, her Hubby and their new baby MY GREAT GRANDDAUGHTER.  

Hubby and I drove in from Kansas and met the family at the church for a Saturday evening service.  As I walked into their facility, I said out loud that this is a religious factory.  The lobby was very open with high ceilings.  A refreshment station was conveniently present to provide iced water and tea for everyone.  Bags of small snack chips were available.  It was a nice way to enter a modern, christian place of worship.

We ushered into the sanctuary to sit in comfortable chairs and then the service began with dimming of the lights, pumping up the smoke, white and blue spot lights were surveying the room and with oversized screens up front displaying the lyrics to the rock band JOURNEY's song DON'T STOP BELIEVING before the loud music was cranked up playing.  I paused in my seat and laughed.  Don't stop believing is about two strangers smiling at each other to spend the night.  humph.  Ungodly beginning to an easter service.

The music was entirely too loud that I could feel it in my chest knowing this was not the HOLY SPIRIT, but a manmade creation used as a drawing card to entice others to join in the fun before the christian message be given.

I hunger for a service delivery where the preacher explains why we need Christ as our savior. Why we as humans need Christ when we are not humanly born with the spirit of God in us and we cannot understand the things of GOD until we are born again and filled with HIS Holy Spirit.  Share what happens when we have the spiritual birth and we are BORN AGAIN through Christ.  Share and explain why. 

I left the service and decided what it was missing.  

If you don't have hearing problems when you got there, you will when you left.  GOD ISN'T DEAF and HE can hear us just fine.  Praise music to me is on a different scale than DON'T STOP BELIEVING.  This musical program lacked peace and wasn't soothing to me.  I experienced a new kind of gathering in the name of the LORD, but I disliked the loud music where the sound is in a decimal that hurts people's ears.  God gave me hearing and I don't care to damage it.  There I spoke my piece.  Others may not understand.  I do.  BE STILL AND KNOW HE IS GOD.  How can you hear HIS quiet voice amongst the electric instruments that are blaring?  HOW?  

JESUS IS RISEN.  HE is risen indeed.  Death couldn't hold HIM down.  He's alive forever more.  He's the same yesterday, today and forever.  He is the LIVING GOD.  He is real and I love HIM.

It was wonderful to see family, to sit with them and to have some photos taken afterwards.  I got to meet my GREAT GRANDDAUGHTER.  Praise the LORD.  She is sweet.

We stayed with my Son and Daughter-in-law overnight.  Shell prepared a delicious Easter feast. Again, I know I ate way too much.  Pleasant visit with family.  I held the baby for about an hour as she slept on me.  To think my granddaughter has had a baby of her own is magical.  Life goes on and I'm so thankful it does.

We traveled HoME on Monday in time to rest to get ready for more medical appointments this week.  In the last ten days, we've had 5 medical appointments.  I am feeling it.  Next week is another one.

TODAY, I visited the orthopedic surgeon to tell me what my MRI and X-ray are saying.  I have a good hip with moderate arthritis.  I can get a shot to see if it helps with hip discomfort.  If it doesn't then he's talking a hip replacement.  I decided I will visit my Chiropractor and get an adjustment.  I'll get some better walking shoes, use an infrared blanket and stretch before I ever consider hip replacement.

I am praying for continued healing with my hip and Husband's knee.  I am a praying wife and mother.  BOTH SON's situations are better.  Praise the LORD.  Our COTTAGE situation is a growing time for me.  I am still turning loose of belongings.  Wish the weight came off as easy.

EASTER TREATS COUNT

YET ANOTHER OUT OF TOWN MEDICAL APPOINTMENT.  sigh.  That's three this week.  Shazam.  With the week-end coming, I will hopefully get a nice break.  I got up early, cleaned up and got ready for appointment.  Off we went out the door around 11.

Appointment went well and afterwards, I treated myself to the thrift store and left with a beautiful African Violet, a couple of books and movies.  Thrifty THURSDAY.  When we got HoME, a nap happened.  Imagine that.  Afterwards I fixed a EASTER BASKET for daughter and son-in-law plus an easter plate for my youngest grandson.  Took these over to them before supper.

My grandson's nick name is BUGG.  He was wired about the easter treat.  Earlier, he let it be known he wanted a chocolate bunny for easter, so he got two and a coloring book.  grins.  It was great fun seeing him so excited about the treat.

I gave my daughter a couples treat, plus her birthday card/gift early.  For once I am early.  

Tonight and early tomorrow, I will make some more treat plates for grands and hand them out in person.

A spring-green colored paper plate receives some easter grass then a boxed chocolate bunny is placed on it, a marshmallow treat, three plastic colored eggs with jelly beans inside the eggs. Cellophane wrap the treat and call it good.  A simple treat can go along ways.  At least I'm thinking about them. 🐇🐰🐇🐰🐇🐰🐇🐰

Easter snuck up early this year.  Wham.  I can rejoice that I serve the risen LORD everyday, so I am part of the remnant that loves the LORD and celebrates HIS goodness each and everyday. NOT a one day celebration.  All the time.  My redeemer lives.  Amen.

Supper tonight was a hamburger patty with ketch-up, mashed potatoes with butter, asparagus and onions with bell peppers.  Very filling.

As I type, I am sitting here with a very full stomach.  I think it would be better to have our large meal at lunch time so our body has time to burn the calories.  I'll be working on that.

DAY AFTER EASTER

MONDAY.  Rested well during the night.  A great feeling especially when I hadn't slept well for a few NIGHTS.  

Did a few chores in the morning and got ready to go to TOPEKA for Hubby's medical appointment.  Paid the utility bill before leaving town, fueled the little PT CRUISER and off we went to the Cardiologist.  Our old Cadillac is acting up again and will have to be looked over later this week.

The Cruiser it was.  PETE is the Cruiser's nick name.   

AFTERWARDS we went to FIRST WATCH for BRUNCH.  I was aiming for more veggies and got the 2 for ONE meal.  I had a delicious salad and half a sandwich.  Heavy on the veggies.  BEST meal I've had for a while.  I'd do this again.  Enjoyed it.

Good appointment with new doc.  Liked him.  Bloodwork in the morning.  I have a dental appointment as well coming up.  A tooth has cracked and is chipping.  Not looking forward to this appointment.  Will I lose a tooth or what?

Medical this and medical that. 

HOME we went.  Pleasant and quick trip. 

 

WALKED ABOUT our yard figuring what we need to do.  A Star of Bethlehem is growing in the front lawn, but needs moved as the lawn mower will plow it over.  It needs to be transplanted to the base of one of the large trees in the yard.  It's gorgeous this year and oversized. There's a bundle of Phlox in the backyard that can be dug up and transplanted to the front yard.  If a large enough patch can be dug up I believe it will transplant well and survive.   Same with the PHLOX.

In the evening, we delivered Grandson's Easter Treat to him and he seemed to be interested and excited to get something from us.  We visited and ate supper.  Afterwards, I walked HOME so I made my mile for the day.  It's been about 3 days since I walked.  By the time I got HOME, I was overheated.  Rested and watched WOLF HALL on PBS.  

DAY AFTER EASTER TREAT...

TUESDAY.  I think it will be a good time to get caught up on laundry.  I'll need to get it sorted and loaded into the car so I can journey to the laundry-mat.  I've got my quarters in hand. 

Cleaned out the fridge.  Need to replace what went sour.  Some avocados, grapes, tomatoes, peppers, broccoli, cauliflower, raspberries, strawberries, blueberries and brussels sprouts are needed.

APRIL FIRST DOINGS

APRIL FOOL's DAY today and I am taking it easy. I'll not be a FOOL. April 1st.  I've been waiting for today for a couple of months now so ready for it to show on the calendar. Finally here.  There will be a Tulip Festival in a nearby community April 12th and 13th.  Each year I predict how beautiful the tulips will look as tourist take in the sights. 

I think I need to plant a bunch of tulip bulbs about the trees in our front yard for spring 2026. I'll have to wait until Fall to plant them, but then I have something to look forward to.  Pink and white lovely Spring Tulips to enjoy.

WEATHER MAY BE DANGEROUS THIS AFTERNOON and evening.  I've got some running about that I need to get done today before taking cover from possible tornado and hail.  Shampooing my hair this morning and air drying it is on the schedule.  A nice lunch with hubby and getting a vitamin B12 shot before husband's haircut.  A few items from the grocery store are needed.  No Topeka trip today.

I think it is for the best to keep the shopping trip very short today due to weather as well as health issues.  I am feeling so much better with the rest I have received and supplements.  The DayQuil and NyQuil have done wonders for this asthma/cold hiccup episode I have been battling.  The cough has been horrible to say the least.

Natural remedies are a life saver.  I have time to think about what triggers these asthma episodes and truthfully it isn't good for me to be around the Flint Hills when ordered burns are taking place.  Perhaps during the month of March and April I should travel to areas of the U.S. where burning is not taking place.

This year I need to be HOME because of Grandchildren's High School Graduations.  If I travel in the months of March and April, I could possible stay with relatives in various states.  Iowa, Missouri, Oklahoma, Arizona.  I believe I had better check into this as the burning is not going to stop because I have asthma issues.  

I am feeling better, but not a hundred percent.  Much deep coughing, asthmatic breathing, drainage, fatigue, stuffed up nose, runny nose, sneezing, tickling in throat and nose.  This was a rough going as it was two years ago.  In a day or two I will ease back into regular walking pattern for exercise.  The diet is ongoing.  A lifestyle.  

As Spring is here so I continue with SPRING CLEANING and tidying.  The food pantry is done. Praise the Lord.  Now I have some things still sitting out that need a new HOME.  When I get these things dealt with, I'll move on to clearing the area in the bathroom for a linen closet. Hubby will get on board to finish it as he stalled on the task after I asked him to help with tidying up the cottage for Christmas company.  

He has become the gardener cleaning out the flowerbeds for SPRING.  He moved the one daffodil we have in the backyard to the front yard about the base of the tree.  Looks wonderful.

This week I will do my best to have a CRAFT DAY decorating wreaths for the front doors.  I have the goods to decorate now to just hot glue the things on the wreath.  This should be fun.  

Putting together Easter treats.  Easter treats for my grand babies is on the agenda.  Going easy on the sweets.  Maybe a few sweets, faux eggs and cash on a paper plate topped with Easter grass all sealed in cellophane with curly ribbons.   Proms are this month along with track meets.  Next month are graduations.  

This time of the year I begin to think of sewing spring clothing and being on the look out for pretty spring clothing.  Something about this time of year to do such.  

Fresh beginnings as EASTER/Resurrection Sunday approaches.  This Spring I will rejoice that Jesus is risen and gives new life to those who are truly saved.  Believing in HIM as the son of God who took the sins of the world upon himself, died and rose again offering salvation to those who truly believe in HIM.  Magnificent Jesus.  Lover of our souls.  The author of our faith.  I believe.

Off to a better day as I am healing from this ailment that has hit me hard.

EASTER BASKETS, BUCKETS AND PLATES

IT'S A BEAUTIFUL DAY HERE ON THE KANSAS PRAIRIE.  Blue skies with some wind.  Temps where I like them.  Perhaps SPRING has returned and will stay awhile.  Hope so.  

We started a new tradition for Good Friday.  Egg A la Goldenrod for LUNCH.  Haven't had this meal in years.  Sounded good to me for a hearty and economical meal and we delivered the local GRANDS their Easter treats.  I got to see their smiling faces in person.  The littlest Grandson squealed when he saw the bucket for him.  It was a tender moment for me as a Granny.  

I decided to not go over board on the candy this year.  Tis easy to do so I disciplined myself.  The baby got more items in his bucket than the older kiddos did on their plates.  Only right as he has only had three Easter treats from us verses the older kids.

I know that my Missouri Grandson received his treat yesterday and my Oklahoma Grandsons did as well by the miracle of tracking mail via computer.  

My 22 year old Granddaughter didn't receive a Easter Basket from us this year.  Figure she is a grown woman and that's behind her.  I have to stop some time.  I did Easter treats for her for 21 years.  Wished I had kept a photo book.  So a greeting card will do.  I hope she liked the treats through time.  Her passage into adulthood is something I have been blessed to watch.  All the children and grandchildren are a blessing to see grow up. 

Though the years, I have fixed the GRANDS Easter BASKETS with actual baskets, Easter Plates and some Easter BUCKETS.  Tis fun to fix these.  Always lots of candy and sometimes a toy. When I was a child, we'd wake up on Easter morning to a treat.  One year I remember I couldn't find my Easter Basket.  I thought the Easter Bunny had forgotten me.  It was a beautiful day so Mom put the treat outside in the back yard.  I was relieved to find it.  It was a magical moment.

I handed my grown daughter a sage green gift bag topped with tissue paper.  When she saw the blue in the bag, she asked if it was her Prom Dress?  Yes, it is.  She THANKED me.  I remember how pretty she looked in her Prom dress.  I wasn't sure if she'd even want the dress.

My daughter's High School Prom Dress was given to her to do what she wants with it.  It's been hanging the closet since 1998.  26 years!!!  It hits HOME with me that time has passed and I mustn't be stuck in the past, but alright to have sweet memories.  Seems like yesterday that she went to the PROM and now the older Grands are doing the same.    

  BACK TO THE TREATS.  

He was enjoying the chocolate bunny so much that he cried when his mom took it away because lunch was being served, so Grandpa started to read him his new book about Easter and he stopped crying.  He likes being read to which I think is a wonderful thing.
