What must one do in order to entertain others when the interior of the home is being remodeled and you don't feel like putting the fellowship off any longer? Besides going to a Tea Room, Restaurant, Church or to their home...do your best to find a comfortable area in your home.
I chose the front porch with a nice table cloth covering the metal bistro table.
The weather is a pleasant 73 degrees with a light breeze blowing that refreshes us as we listen to soft instrumental music in the background.
I'd like to acknowledge Kim for hosting this June 6th Blog Tea Party. Kim, Thank you for this opportunity to have virtual fellowship so we can share our stories and show one another the cups, saucers, teapots, etc. that we'd like to use for this special occasion.
Though the bistro table is rather small, that won't stop us from having a pleasant time and enjoying a hot cup of tea served in white HUTSCHENREUTHER teacups from Germany upon matching saucers. The cups and saucers were purchased from one of my favorite thrift shops.
You will be able to choose from Earl Grey's Mount Olives Treasures with pomegrante, naturally decaffeinated and regular Lipton Tea with protective antioxidants, or Old Fashioned Benner Tea with your choice of cream, sugar and lemon slices. After making your selection, hot water will be poured from a white reproduction teapot that has no markings. I purchased it from a General Store at Wichita, Kansas's Historical Cowtown. I thought the teapot matched very well with the cups and saucers.
We will start our Tea Party by sitting on the porch sipping tea and talking about the weather, the beauty of the day, family tales, decorating details, exchanging cookie recipes, etc. It won't even cross our minds that we shouldn't talk about political policies or our ages. We are way to wise to chatter about weight.
After we have had a little time to chat, I will serve each guest a cucumber sandwich, sugar glazed frozen grapes, and carrot with raisin salad on a glass sandwich dish upon a individual tray that holds silverware wrapped in a linen napkin, a tall glass of ice water and a single light pink rose.
Before dessert is served, I will read a short devotional about Making Memories from Thomas Kinkade's book HEART REFLECTIONS.
My husband gave me this book for Mother's Day one year. I'd like to share from it for my guest.
Perhaps you've noticed the white Coffee Server. This was a Birthday gift from my beloved Parents. I'll be serving a mild flavored coffee after we've had dessert. Dessert today will be dainty cherry covered cheesecakes. Whipped with so much air that you don't have to concern yourself with calories. There weren't any. Absolutely delicious!
