Bedrooms Are To Rest In

It sometimes takes a tad bit of time to make a room presentable for resting in.  At the end of the month we will have been in this house for a year.  WHAT A YEAR.  Still piecing together our HOME from suffering a HOUSE FIRE.

Getting back on the saddle has been exhausting.  Forging ahead and keeping on.  That saying, "STAY CALM and whatever you want to fill in the blank with" speaks volumes to this old Lady here behind the BLOG.

"STAY CALM AND CARRY ON"

My Husband knows full well that I am HIGH STRUNG.  Carrying on isn't the easiest thing in the world for me.  I get tired rather quickly and have to pace myself with loads of breaks and naps in between.  I'm a seasoned LIST MAKER.  Waiting isn't one of my best qualities.  WAITING is truly part of LIFE and I sometimes hesitate to continue on.  

We cleared out what I call the GREY ROOM that was intended to be a Doll room/Office.  If I have learned anything in LIFE it is that we should stay FLEXIBLE.  

Our antique bedroom suite was destroyed a year and a half ago in the house fire.  For sure with our insurance money I wanted to replace this lost furniture.  LAST SUMMER we went looking when we came across this one.  Let it go.  Went back to look at it almost a year later.  It was still in the antique store waiting for us to take her HOME.   

We looked her over and decided this was the one to get in our price range.  Walnut wood.  Old.  1880ish.  Well made.  Interesting.  Just about right.

I had it in my head that I wanted a really ornate Antique Bedroom set with a dark stain.  The hunt was taking place and decided this one was in the neighborhood for easier delivery and in the financial neighborhood.  OKAY.  This is it.  She isn't dark stained, but will make a few concessions.  She is beautiful burled walnut and I think I will be just fine with her sitting in our third bedroom.  

Knowing that a Walnut Antique Bed, Dresser with Washstand would be coming to our HOME we cleared out the Grey room that was full of things to be dealt with.  Rented a small moving truck to load up.  She now sits in the living room waiting to make the climb to the upper floor on our house.  

This week the suite will go upstairs?

Mattress and box springs will have to be ordered in June and delivered this Summer.  Bedding will come.  The little Grey room will be a sweet and cozy.  I have to figure out where to go with with my dolls.  That will take some doing.

May have to set most of the DOLLS up in a closet for now and take a peek at them from time to time.  Leaving a few to sit out in the Bedroom.      

We're morphing right along as furniture is being replaced, items purchased, rearranged to enjoy.  

Ready to have furniture upstairs and in the bedroom to make a Bedroom.  Giving it more thought as to where everything will go.  Dolls, office papers, blankets, etc. etc. etc.

Not sure how this will unfold.

As the messes go away, I will be a happier camper.

Making progress.

I fell asleep in my easy chair once again as I was cooling off from being outside.  We made a trip to Manhattan to the Pharmacist to pick up our meds, fuel the car, grab a Starbucks, walk through the Kansas University Gardens to see more Irises, pop into Dollar Tree, Menards, onward HOME.  I had big ideas about pulling weeds from the flower garden in the cool of the evening.  

I got so far as to put my work gloves on and sat down to cool off.  I nodded off and woke to being just too tired to pull weeds.
