Hubby has been working at stripping paint from the old bathroom door right in the middle of our small KITCHEN. The solid wood door needed cut down to fit because new tile has been laid on the Bathroom floor making it a different height than it was and the door wouldn't swing open. After a couple new coats of paint on the door, he will hang it. Having a door on the NECESSARY ROOM is necessary isn't it? It is to me. I like my PRIVACY especially when tending to business.
He hadn't planned on stripping the paint, but when he took some hardware off of the old door, it pulled paint off which meant if he painted new paint on it, the appearance would be uneven. So he stripped most of the old paint off so the paint job will be smooth.
It seems like when a project is happening that surprises pop up. It's better to be flexible with knowing that there will be surprises so you aren't taken a back when they do happen.
LORD, HELP ME GET THE THINGS DONE THAT NEEDS DONE in my little corner of the world. As a HOMEMAKER, this is my territory to manage. With concentrating at DOWNSIZING, packing, moving small loads of our belongings over to the COTTAGE, unloading, finishing up house projects so the house could be marketed...I am in disbelief how long we have been on this DOWNSIZING PROJECT. I am tired. Started packing in January 2023, but other projects were on going a year or so beforehand. Here it is January 2024. What a ride. This phase of LIFE has been very spread out. It has got to get better and calm down.
Just guessing, I am projecting it will take 4 months to get the interior of the COTTAGE out of all the boxes before we can even begin on the storage units. We left the main house October 27, 2023. SPRING will be here before we get to that place. Just as well as the weather will be easier to work in.
We have already been here at the COTTAGE FULL TIME two months and we are still going through our contents. I cannot work 24/7 on this. There are long breaks that take me away from the house as well as human fatigue that I deal with at times.
Taking this into account, the COTTAGE has many boxes that still need emptied, but I have HOPE that once I start on the DINING ROOM it will go faster because dishes are in these boxes waiting to be put away. I'll be alright once I get started on this room.
Like a snowball rolling down a hill gaining momentum with additional snow layering around the original small snowball, this task of unpacking will speed up as progress appears. I will be able to see the floor with the emptying of boxes that holds precious merchandise. This helps me to keep moving in the right direction with this huge task.
Have mercy. This is a difficult move for me. I run so long then I have to vent some because the chaos gets to me. Know what I mean, Vern?
WITH THE SNOWY weather coming, it gives me a very good excuse to stay indoors working on the house. That is what I must do for now.
If I make it outside after the snow fall, I might make a few snowballs to store in the freezer for next summer. I've done this before. Great fun having real snow during the summer time. Counting down the days until SPRING. I'll keep busy and forget about it for a month or so.
With VALENTINES DAY approaching, I have hearts on my mind. Hubby helped me hang a twig heart in the front window on a suction cup, but it didn't stay put. Will have to wet the suction cup down with water and see if it will stick this time. I had bought a couple of large suction cups for 50% off at Walmart after Christmas. Supposedly they hold large wreaths. Supposedly. Just getting a small task like this done lifts my spirits.
I did wipe with white vinegar the outside of my Mom's drinking glasses she gave to me. It cleaned the glass very well. Then I washed the glasses in very hot soapy water, rinsed and let them air dry. They're sparkling. Tonight as I listen to the television I will do the same with all the pieces of this dish set. That will be four boxes of dishes off the floor. This will help make HOME look more like HOME.
The 2024 season of ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL and MISS SCARLET AND THE DUKE will be on PBS tonight. Looking forward to watching.
It can snow now and I will deliberately watch it fall while sitting in my blue wing chair in the quiet of my HOME.
