STEPPING OUTSIDE TO LOAD THE BACK OF OUR LITTLE CRUISER REMINDED ME of when we lived in HOUSTON umpteen years ago. The oppressive heat stopped me in my tracks. Breathing is more difficult when it is this hot. I managed to get the back of the car loaded with storage boxes.
On today's agenda, I needed to get my Alaska friend a birthday card. A utility bill needed paid, some letters mailed, some birthday checks cashed. Purchased some $2 BILLS. Salad lunch under a shade tree today.
After running errands, I switched cars and drove over to the COTTAGE across the river. I needed to pay the utility bill in the little community as well. There was no bottle water in the fridge, so I went to the Dollar Store and picked up some tea plus a bag of M&Ms. I've been craving some for weeks now and grabbed some along with a small bottle of orange juice so I could take my iron supplement with OJ. I'd read that when taking an iron supplement you should take it with OJ. I need all the help I can get.
Then I went to the COTTAGE to sit and eat the M&Ms. Right there on the package it mentions the ingredients and I should have avoided eating these little, round, colored chocolates with a crunch. This product contains bioengineered ingredients. Ouch. There's those GMOs. I will have to pay attention to the labels and say NO to the FDA approval of toxins. You are not the people's friend. Are we lab rats? I seem to be willing.
SO very quiet inside the COTTAGE. I feel so comfortable in this small place. Enjoying myself, I cooled off in the living room with the ceiling fan on while drinking a bottle of tea and munching my much lusted after M&Ms. They were gone before I knew it. A second in the mouth...a lifetime on the hips?
Figuring what I needed to do, I made myself a list. Water the house plants and porch flowers first thing. They looked sad as it has been overly hot and I wasn't there to give them a drink for a few days. The large schefflera that I moved from the living room to the dining room a few days ago looked healthy. I planned on moving this very heavy pot to the pink bedroom so the area in front of the window will be freed up.
Carrying the oversized plant container made me sweat. Heavy. She looks good in front of the bedroom window. MY VICTORIAN BEDROOM makes me eager to get moved over to this cozy place. There is much clean-up and painting that will need done. Thinking about our move and remodeling the COTTAGE keeps my mind off of having surgery later in the month. It helps to stay busy and as long as I have strength to do so, I will.
My plans were to shuffle the house so when the mattresses and box springs arrive this week, it will be easy to get these items into the bedrooms without incident. I managed to clear the pink bedroom floor space for the mattress/box. I had to sit down and rest after doing this.
Next, I was going to shuffle boxes in the front bedroom. As I sat, my Husband arrived. He surprised me as he was working on boxing items in the Carriage House at the main house. Instead he came over. We talked about what needs to be done before our movers come this week. I told him I was getting ready to work over the front bedroom making room for the bed. He pitched in and made fast work of it.
This bedroom still had lots of boxes that need gone through and until the floor to ceiling bookshelves are built, the boxes of dolls and books have to stay boxed up. The main thing today was to stack along the walls these things. Both sides of the room are stacked with boxes, but the area in front of the double window is cleared enough for the bed to be set up after the mattress and box arrive. Done. Ready to go.
Next the Dining room needs all the boxes stacked along the walls so there is room to waltz through into the bedroom with ease. Done. Tomorrow I will work on the living room. I have baskets filled with books and magazines that I will move. The two old Morris chairs will be moved into the Dining room so our two blue wing chairs and sofa fit into their new places.
Temporarily I had a metal cart in the Living room to hold silver plated trays and other Kitchen small appliances. This will be moved to the Kitchen after I can make a path for it. I hope to vacuum the carpet so the floor is half way clean.
The COTTAGE is small and I have spent hours thinking about where each piece of furniture should go to where it isn't cramped and to get as much furniture in here as possible without having to not use all of our furniture. It's been a mental work out.
We're almost there. Over the last year, we have slowly moved pieces of furniture into the COTTAGE along with a multitude of creature comforts and things we plan to live with.
The movers this week will have be dealing with what we will not be using inside the COTTAGE and then a few things that we couldn't haul over in the cars that we'll be using.
Going into storage, they'll be loading a sofa,
a dining room table with six chairs,
a dinette table with two chairs,
a four poster bed with heavy mattress and box springs,
a large dresser with mirror,
a piano,
a Highboy,
a Pie Table,
the miniature washing machine,
a Plantation Desk,
another desk,
can't think of what else for the storage unit.
The storage unit will house things for now just so we can get out of the house. These things will be dealt with after we get the house ready to market.
Then the MOVERS will move furniture that will be taken to the cottage.
Two wing chairs and a ottoman,
sofa,
my Mom's China Cabinet,
the Victorian headboard,
two mattresses and boxsprings.
The patio furniture will need to go as well.
When this is done, I will sigh with relief that it is DONE. PTL.
Lots of boxes yet to move. These will be done once again a little at a time using our cars. Our two recliners and the tv will be left behind as this is where I will recover after surgery. We will have a fully functioning Kitchen and Bathrooms. Then the touch ups on the house will take place as I recover. I will work on paperwork, write a book and rest as Hubby does the manual work. It will be a busy time for us and I feel somewhat bad about having to have surgery during this time, but then I have cancer so I have to do what I have to do.
We're getting there and I can see progress. That's a good feeling. Finally there is a coming together that needs to be. This has been a unusual move for us and I will be thankful when it is completed. The getting settled will take some time. I will need to continue walking and lifting light weights after I recover from surgery. Studying up on how to eat and what to eat will be ongoing. No more M&Ms for awhile.
In September, I am suppose to visit with a Gene Counselor. That will be a first. How do I feel about it? Not sure. I received the questionnaire in the mail. There has been very little cancer in my family. Makes me wonder. My thoughts are that when I was a child, I was exposed to too much radiation in the early 1960s from nuclear fallout from when nuclear bombs were tested in Nevada. Who do I blame for this? Our government? Satan?
Then there's the Tubal Ligation I had as a 24 year old woman that I regret having had done as I believe it messed up my hormones big time. So many years with issues. I regret that I was not at a place in my Christian walk where I communicated with my Heavenly Father more in-depth about birth control and children. My suggestion to others considering this surgical procedure is DON'T DO IT! The stats on those who have a Tubal Ligation screams loudly that you will more than likely have to have a Hysterectomy within 10 to 15 years after having this done as you will bleed very heavy to the point that you will go along with a hysterectomy to stop the bleeding.
Fibroids will grow causing issues. Polyps will grow. Thickening of the uterus will take place. I will share DON'T HAVE YOUR TUBES TIED.
Praise the LORD. I have much to do while still here on planet Earth.
No sad thoughts. I need to be thinking about the good things of GOD,
