EASTER TIME

I'm so glad you've stopped by. Please tell me what you have been up to. May you have a great day and a very blessed Easter. I hope to get a basket filled with Easter grass and Easter candy to sit on the diningroom table. This sounds like a simple enough task to accomplish!!! Lord, please help me to get this done. I am way over tired and have been in high gear. Need a sabatical rest to feel refreshed. Easter Sunday is in a few days. Resurrection Sunday! What a blessed time of year to be a part of. My Easter cards need to be placed in the mail today. Candy filled bags have been mailed. Hurray...got that much done!!!

I grew up in a town with about 15, ooo people in the southwest corner of Kansas. Liberal, Kansas is what I call my HOME TOWN since I lived there from the time I was about 4 years old til I was 18. Met my husband here and gave birth to my 2 boys here. Came to know Christ in Liberal.

This is the place I had a childhood. My fond memories of the Easter Bunny took place here. New clothes for Easter Sunday were wore to Church. Mom saw to it that our shoes were polished, our hair was clean and styled. Our pastel colored dresses were frilly pretty and my sister and I were dolled up! My brothers wore nice clothes, their hair plastered down to fit their heads and look handsome. I remember my Dad wearing a suit and Mom wearing pretty jewelry with the dress she wore. Bright red lipstick was her favorite and at 77 she still wears it today.

When Easter morning arrived...we'd go looking for that special treat the Easter Bunny left behind for us.

It wasn't fancy, but the paperplate topped off with artificial green grass and candy was something to get excited about. I loved this! Usually the plate would be placed in the house and we had to discover it. There was a race on to be the first to find this Easter Candy treat.

One year, we looked high and low for our paperplates filled with chocolate candy. We couldn't find our treats. Hum....if we were bad did the Easter Bunny forget us? Then a squeal was heard. The treats were in the backyard waiting for us on the lawn.

These are pleasant memories for a little girl to have who loved this time of year. I still look forward to this time of year.

Easter eggs, new clothes, chocolate bunnies, even the artificial grass is admired. Now days the decorating grass comes in a variety of colors and textures. I like the shredded paper type. Easier clean up than the plastic kind.

And I love the Easter Story where we hear about the resurrection of Jesus. JESUS being raised from the dead. The Historical account of Jesus triumphantly leaving the death tomb and overcoming the world. Victoriously alive and no longer dead.

He is my Lord. He is my Savior. He is my God.

The Lord is risen. He is risen indeed.

Jesus once again is the Reason for the Season.

Thank you Lord for being there through out time for mankind. For me and others.

Thank you Lord for being real and ready to give us abundant LIFE. EVERLASTING LIFE.

To God be the Glory...great things He hath done,

Sweet Lambs

There are many in the world that believe there is no God. Many say, "Well, I'm a good person...I haven't killed anyone and I pay my taxes. I will go to heaven because I'm a kind person."

Others see no reason why they need Christ in their lives. They see no need to be religious.

Some say that Heaven is what we make it to be right here on earth today and our God is what we make him to be, whatever we desire him to be. Anything goes.

After you share the Gospel...Some will tell you gently, "Well if that's what you want to believe, okay...if it works for you, that's fine, but it's not for me."

I've heard alot of human reasons why people are not Christian.

How's about... "We are all trying to get to heaven just through different ways."

Some say it doesn't matter what god we worship...all go to heaven.

What about...we're energy and when we die we return to energy.

Reincarnation will happen and whaalah...we are now a bug and have to learn our lesson about how to be a good bug. Also...When we learn our lesson, we raise ourselves to a higher level of consciousness.

Then there's...If I work hard enough at being good...then God is for sure going to let me into heaven when I die.

So many reasons.

I can't tell you how many Christian Ladies Meetings or church services I have been to in my day that failed to share the Gospel. It was never mentioned why we need Christ in our life in the first place.

If I ever am given the opportunity again to share my testimony...I have to tell others why we need to be 'born again'

'why we need Christ to save us'

'why we need a savior'

When we enter into this world as a baby, we are made up of body, soul (mind, will and emotion) and spirit. Our spirit must be born again by receiving regeneration. We have the human spirit in us, but not the spirit of God in us. We are a member of the fallen nature of mankind. Without being born again, we cannot understand the things of God. We have to be born again to be regenerated with the spirit of God in order to be a child of God. We can be a new creature and born again by asking Jesus to become our savior and believing He is who He says He is according to the Bible. He is the Son of God. He is the Messiah. It is not by trying to be good enough that qualifies us to being a child of God.

I'm not an eloquent speaker. I don't even have a pair of wings on my back, but sharing the good news that Jesus is Lord and he prepared the way for us to have a rightful relationship with Almighty God is good information to know. We can have our sins forgiven through accepting him as God's perfect plan of redemption for mankind. If we believe and recieve him as savior. He did the work. He died for our sins. He died to pay a price. He rose from the dead and is alive! ALIVE!!!

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life...he is the lamb of God. It is through Jesus that we can have abundant and everlasting life. He is yours for the taking, by believing and accepting him for who he is. You can enter into the heavenly throne room and be heard before God your petitions, your prayers. You are a somebody...you are family...God is now your heavenly Father and He cares for you. He wants to share His wisdom and truths with you.

People are like sheep who have gone astray. Have you ever watched sheep? They need guidance, protection, led.

We need the good sheperd, Jesus. We need help and guidance to live the right way. To be shown the way to go.

When I opened my Bible, it opened up to high lighted scripture. Let me share this scripture about Jesus with you.

Found in the Bible's Old Testament in the book of Isaiah,
chapter 53,
verses 5 and 6 please read:

But he was wounded for our transgressions,

he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him;

and with his stripes we are healed.

All we like sheep have gone astray;

we have turned every one to his own way;

and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Are you living life without the spirit of the living God in you?

Have you ever wondered what this faith walk is all about?

Why you were born in the first place?

What is sin anyways?

Why do I need Jesus?

Why do I even need God for that matter?

Who says I am lost and going to a place called hell?

Why do I care if I die and will spend an eternity out of the presence of a loving God?

What difference does it make if I live in sin?

Why should I be concerned that I be saved? Saved from what?
Was I ever lost?

Who needs eternal life and rest?

Are you kidding, I am a fool?

This week will lead up to Easter/Resurrection Sunday. May we all be refreshed.

God Bless and may the Holy Spirit of the LIVING GOD fall a fresh on you,

~Deanna~

PS
Later this week, I want to share the sinners prayer. If you don't know what that is...perhaps you'd like to read about it.

Knock Knock...Who's There?

A few days ago I shared HomeHaven's old staircase. Squeaks and all. Glad you've stopped by today to take another peek into our old house we call HOME these days. As I continue to share some other features I like about our haven maybe you'll use your imagination to focus these slightly blurry pics.

Let's start with this oak door. This particular door is on the part of the house built in the early 1900's. A few years ago, we bought a similar looking door that will be used for the entrance door on the 1885 part of the house. What's on there now is a newer door from (I'm guessing) the 1960's??? After the door is worked over and installed, we'll have almost a matching pair from the same time era. Can't wait...but have to!

I bought some Brasso to clean the brass door knobs this Spring. I'll do a BEFORE and AFTER pic and hope for the best. Can you imagine how many people have turned this door knob? Brass is suppose to be a substance that helps to kill germs. Still this old knob needs a good polishing. The details the designer put into his creation is appreciated.

This wood trim with the rosette on the corners that frames the door is seen from inside the Diningroom. Wanted to show you the depth of the door well. I don't have a tape measure handy so I'm guessing that the depth is about 18" deep. So from the door to the screen door is about an 18" stretch of hard wood with more trim on it.

This wood trim with rosette frames the doorway between the Diningroom into the Family Room. It's at this place that one leaves the newer part of the house and goes into the older part. It's really deep...more so than the door wells on front of the house. The Family Room Ceiling Fan with amber colored glass globe was a new addition and has come in very handy to cool the summer heat.

These Hallmark Christmas ornaments were sitting on top of the Family Room knotty yellow pine trim that's framing the doorway from the Family Room looking into the Diningroom.

Between the Family Room and Formal Parlour is this pretty Knotty Yellow Pine Ball and Stick Grille with scroll work. Still in very good shape with a 125 year patina. Wish there was more of this about the house. There are some really pretty grilles available on the market that could be used elsewhere in the house and we might just get a few more to doll up some rooms. Also at old house salvage stores one can find some beauties to enhance areas.

The wood floors in the Family Room and Formal Parlour is good ole hardwood Maple. True to form the floors are old and there is wear and tear with some scratches. Perhaps we will strip and stain these some where down the line.

More hardwood floors can be found upstairs.

Have you heard the Knock-Knock joke of 'knock-knock'...who's there?
'knock-knock'...who's there??
'knock-knock'...who's there???
'knock-knock'...oh come on...who's there????
This has gone on for so long I don't remember.
That's all for today...Thank you for visiting!
Have a super week-end and God Bless,
~Deanna all the way from the Prairie~

Blessings Dish

HomeHaven is enjoying this lovely gift from my sweet and thoughtful Parents. Since the walls in the Diningroom are plaster, I am using a wooden easel to display this dish with these red words on it:

Gather Together
and Share our
BLESSINGS
with Family
and Friends

Dishes and I are inseparable!
I INHERITED MY MOMMA'S LOVE FOR DISHES.

Dear Lord, I'm so glad that you allow dishes in my life! (and more importantly...my momma and daddy) Thank you.

Have a Happy and Healthy Home Life.
God Bless you real good,

CROSS

Dear Ones, I hesitated posting this picture of this metal cross hanging on the Family Room wall because of the botched up wallpaper. IT AINT PRETTY!

The decorative cross is pretty, but the wall behind it isn't. Until the walls get repapered I need to focus on the cross and look past all the ugly behind it.

Easter will soon be here. The walls will still be ugly. In just a few days Resurrection Sunday will be celebrated. Jesus is alive and well.

Life sometimes has alot of ugly in it....may we focus on the lovely.

May Jesus's presence in our lives be alive and well. May He be our Lord and Savior.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow. Focus on Him. Amen and Amen.

Granny Nanny Chronicles

HomeHaven Howdy to you! Recalling the snow this past Winter with some fond memories...Granny Nanny here. I am beyond ready for warmer temperatures with Spring officially on the calendar and some pretty flowers shooting up through the soil.

The snowsuit pictures were taken around Christmas.

Toddler has turned into a Lil Junior Miss. She wants to do alot 'all by herself' and I know this is a healthy thing for a young child. Her Momma bundled her up during the cold Winter before playing in the snow. It's a common thing for Jr. Ms. to say,
" I wanna do it myself! "

We had SNOW this past week-end on the first day of Spring. Bringing some of the snow inside was great fun. Jr. Ms. plays with it in the sink. Easy clean-up and such fun for early Childhood Developement.

Lemons, AMERICAN Cheese Slices and Baby Carrots..."Perfect stuff for a picnic!" Jr. Ms. has a habit of getting into the fridge 'all by myself' and she told me that this was "Perfect stuff for a picnic!"
Granny Nanny thought this was sweet...but I'm sure if we ate the lemons at our picnic it would be sour...grins.

Love you and God Bless,
Granny Nanny

Corner Hutch

Do you like white stoneware??? I do! My collection is growing...like overnight. This collection started with a few pieces...a few white ceramic pieces. Some porcelain pitchers and a tall white coffee pot. Then I hit the JaCkPoT a few weeks ago. At one Thrift Shop was a tabletop of white glazed pieces. This made me smile. The prices were right.

Recently, I cleared out a corner hutch that sits in a cubby area off the Family Room. This area is beside a door that leads to the cellar. I filled it with my white collection. Originally the Family Room was the 1885 Diningroom. I have kicked this around til it hurt. I wanted to turn the Family Room back into a Formal Diningroom, but I love having a Formal Parlour and I don't wanna turn it into a casual room nor have a Family Room Upstairs soooooooo the Diningroom that is in the newer part of the house built in 1901 will stay a Diningroom and this Family Room will stay a Fam Room.

The Corner Hutch was in the upstairs Nursery when we bought this house. Saw a picture of the cubby with the Hutch in it and thought it otta return to the cubby. Like it here!

Now I know this isn't white, but thought the PINK was sweet! God Bless and may you have a wonderful day,

~Deanna~

PS The things I bring home usually come home in a BAG.

I pray that the LORD help me decorate and doll this place up.

DECORATING

I knew a very frugal Lady named Edith that shared with me a excellent guideline for decorating. She said with ease, "If your room has clean ceilings, floors, and walls, and the windows have nice curtains, you'll have an attractive room."

John 3:7

“Marvel not that I said unto thee,

Ye must be born again.”

King James Version (KJV)

PSALM 118:17

I shall not die,
but live, and declare
the works of the Lord.

PROVERBS 24:3-4

By wisdom
a house is built,
and through understanding

it is established;
through
knowledge

its rooms are filled with rare

and beautiful treasures.

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS
SELECTING THE CORRECT SIZE CHANDY TO USE IN A ROOM MADE EASY. FORMULA MEASUREMENTS: Measure the room's height and width. Add together the numbers. Example: 8' x 10' room is 8 plus 10= 18" Use a 18" wide chandy. OR Take width of room calculating 2" for every foot. Example: 15' wide room. Take 15 times 2 = 30. Room needs 30" wide chandy. Standard distance between the bottom of the chandelier to the top of the table is 30 inches. When hanging the chandelier, make sure to hang it at the proper height. The bottom of a chandelier over a dining table or kitchen island should hang 30 to 32 inches above the top of the table or island. Most rooms call for at least 7 feet of space between the bottom of the chandelier and the floor.

WISHES

NO MATTER HOW BADLY YOU WISH with all your might that the something devastating that happened in your life hadn't happened and want so badly to go back in time to prevent it from happening...it isn't humanly possible to do this. You can't change the fact that it happened. IT DID. But JESUS can change the MEANING of what happened to you and give you PEACE. He can show you the way in which you are to go. God richly BLESS you. ~Deanna
