MUD PIES and TICKETS

SOMETIMES IT'S FUN TO PLAY IN THE MUD.

THIS PAST WEEK WAS A HARD ONE.  My Mom had surgery on Tuesday.  Blockage in left knee.  I went over on Monday after attending a Medicare Seminar in which my eyes were sagging when I left the meeting.  TMNI...to much new information.

I went HOME to wash my hair and rest before hitting the road to MOM's.

CURLERS IN YOUR HAIR...BLESSINGS TO YOU!!!
Tried AUSSIE's Miracle Curls CREME PUDDING with coconut and Australian Jojoba Oil.  Smells nice.  Will try this again when I can leave hair in curlers longer.

With rollers in my hair, I drove the distance and arrived before dark.  Unpacked and chatted.  Would be getting up very early in the morning to take Mom's dog to doggy-care and then drive to Hillsboro to pick my brother up.  Then onto Wichita to the Heart Hospital.

Checked Mom in and then the wait began.  Sat out in the LOBBY while she was getting dressed for surgery.  Lil brother and his wife would join us in the CAFE where I had free coffee.  We chatted and then went to sit with Mom a while longer until LUNCH TIME.

Returned after lunch and waited.  She was in surgery and did fantastic.   3 stents instead of 1 though.  Later we'd take Mom HOME to rest.  She did so well.   Took brother back to where he lives.

My brother has some issues with his health...diabetic with some mental challenges.  I can never tell how he is going to be emotionally which plays on me.  It wears on my peace of mind.  Always being on eggs is a heck of a way to live, but SOME relationships are this way in my world.  It doesn't matter how seasoned I am...the meal keeps changing.

Spending two nights at my Mom's on an air mattress in which I didn't sleep well on top of being on eggs during surgery made my trip HOME a long one and I was tired.

After I left my Mom's place I drove back to the Senior Center where we had lunch of Chili, Cinnamon roll, Mandarin oranges, Cole slaw and water.  Bought some Tea Towels that were in their CORNER CRAFT section.  These towels were embroidered by my Mom.  These will be a keepsake.

Off to Dorothy's House for a traveling coffee of Pumpkin Spice White Chocolate Mocha and Peppermint.  A mouthful.  The house that this coffee shop is in is a made over redecorated Victorian House.  I loved the place.

Then on the road I went.  Home before dark.
Exhausted.  Exhausted.  Exhausted.

Next day I was on my way to Regional Cross Country and as I drove through ROSSVILLE...well I got a ticket.  Oops.  First one evah!  In 45 years of marriage, this is the first ticket I have ever received.  FROWN.  $150 to the court.  I was too tired to even get nervous when the officer pulled me over.  That's the way it is.

It wasn't for speeding...I had followed this huge vehicle hauling equipment.  Rocks were hitting my car.  When I got to Rossville, I thought I would pass this mammoth and get on down the road.  On the edge of town before the mammoth could speed up, I started to pass him on the left side.  Going fast, I saw a vehicle coming toward me so I really speed up to get around.  Unfortunately, I was in a no passing zone.  Welp...I got a ticket.  A big ticket.  TICKET.  Now I cannot say I never got a ticket in my driving career.  Insurance is bound to go up.

Lil Miss ran and did well for her age group.  It was wonderful to get to see her run.  SHE RUNS LIKE THE WIND.  She was running before she walked.  I know.  I was there to see her do this as I was the full time Granny Nanny that did childcare from age one to five and a half.

The countryside was gorgeous and relaxing to see.  I did sink in some mud while crossing the course.  Sank and gave my feet a mud bath.  Kind of like a SPA TREATMENT after getting a ticket.  Time to relax in the MUD!  Ruined my shoes.  Time for some new ones even though I liked these suede ones.  sigh.

IF ONLY THIS MUD WOULD HAVE HEALED MY ACHING FEET.  I wouldn't have minded.  It didn't do the trick.  They still ache and walking is difficult.  Slow to get around.  Still have hopes of improving.  Please LORD, heal my feet.

Afterwards, we went to TOPEKA to the THRIFT STORE with my dirty feet and mud trimmed jeans.  A gorgeous silver plated serving tray caught my eye for $15.  She was mine.  I'll polish her and use her for the HOLIDAYS to hold seasonal stuff.  I can see her with AUTUMN leaves and pumpkins resting on her.

CRISPY BRUSSELS SPROUTS

HUBBY got his way and we went to LONGHORN for supper, but I didn't complain.  They always have a delicious hand cut salad with bread and butter.  Small steak, loaded baked potato and Brussels Sprouts.  Mushrooms on the side.  Skipped the dessert.  Good girl.  I left the restaurant contented.  HOME we went.

MUSHROOMS

Icing my heels the next day did not help my heels.  It's not going well.  I did REST.  That will have to do while I went through paperwork.

WATCHED Agatha Christie's movie CROOKED HOUSE.  Ummmm.  It was very slow paced and lacked something.  Not sure what, but it was lacking.  Maybe too slow for an already tired soul.  Liked the time era this was staged in and that's about it.  Glenn Close talented as ever sporting an English accent shooting a rifle.  Still I think the movie lacked something.  Tally-Ho.  She was hunting moles in the yard.  A murder mystery with a surprising ending.  Ka-boom.

Today, I continue to rest.  Perhaps I will spring back in a few days.  This sometimes takes a while to get to where I am going.

ON THE OTHER HAND, my oldest SON is running a HUNDRED Miler today.  Not sure how he does this or why he does it, but he does this at 44 years of age.  The clock is ticking.

Looking forward to the week-end,
d

DECORATING

I knew a very frugal Lady named Edith that shared with me a excellent guideline for decorating. She said with ease, "If your room has clean ceilings, floors, and walls, and the windows have nice curtains, you'll have an attractive room."

John 3:7

“Marvel not that I said unto thee,

Ye must be born again.”

King James Version (KJV)

PSALM 118:17

I shall not die,
but live, and declare
the works of the Lord.

PROVERBS 24:3-4

By wisdom
a house is built,
and through understanding

it is established;
through
knowledge

its rooms are filled with rare

and beautiful treasures.

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS
SELECTING THE CORRECT SIZE CHANDY TO USE IN A ROOM MADE EASY. FORMULA MEASUREMENTS: Measure the room's height and width. Add together the numbers. Example: 8' x 10' room is 8 plus 10= 18" Use a 18" wide chandy. OR Take width of room calculating 2" for every foot. Example: 15' wide room. Take 15 times 2 = 30. Room needs 30" wide chandy. Standard distance between the bottom of the chandelier to the top of the table is 30 inches. When hanging the chandelier, make sure to hang it at the proper height. The bottom of a chandelier over a dining table or kitchen island should hang 30 to 32 inches above the top of the table or island. Most rooms call for at least 7 feet of space between the bottom of the chandelier and the floor.

WISHES

NO MATTER HOW BADLY YOU WISH with all your might that the something devastating that happened in your life hadn't happened and want so badly to go back in time to prevent it from happening...it isn't humanly possible to do this. You can't change the fact that it happened. IT DID. But JESUS can change the MEANING of what happened to you and give you PEACE. He can show you the way in which you are to go. God richly BLESS you. ~Deanna
