TEMPS ARE SUPPOSE TO BE IN THE 40s and 50s this week. This is a welcomed temp after being negative whatever. Our heater started to act up yesterday. A part will need replaced, but the store is closed until Monday morning meaning a trip to Manhattan is needed. My dear Hubby is the superintendent around here where something is always needing fixed.
If it gets in the high 40s tomorrow, I'll be out for a walk. It's been awhile since I walked because the cold weather took over. I haven't been disciplined enough to walk the treadmill. Shame on me. It's already been 5 days since I went off the Daniel Diet. A few cookies found their way to my pie hole.
I haven't forgotten to eat my greens. I did have a small steak two days ago which was delicious. Green beans on the side, but I went overboard on the rolls. Not good. Easing back into eating healthier this week. I believe I will work some smoothies in along with large salads and grilled veggies. Ease off the bread and cookies.
Staying physically active is necessary and much needed especially at 69. If I worked on household chores all the time, I would get exercise, but I don't so I have to deliberately go for walks and do stretches. I've been starting my mornings out with Harney and Sons AFRICAN AUTUMN TEA which has no caffeine with a dash of cayenne pepper. The cayenne pepper is to help with blood pressure and I believe it is working as my reading this morning was 123/68 without blood pressure meds. No swelling in my feet at all. It's been about two months since I went off the BP meds with HCTZ. In my opinion the meds were causing the feet swelling. My BP has gone into a manageable range without the meds. PTL. I have to question what medication does to me. Perhaps others. I believe high blood pressure can be caused by having a vitamin and mineral deficiency.
In my case, I believe the HCTZ was flushing out electrolytes such as potassium causing me to have high blood pressure. HCTZ is known to raise blood glucose and cholesterol. I'll have a nice chat with my doc next time I have my cholesterol, blood pressure and glucose checked. Before I was ever checked for lost electrolytes which cause high blood pressure, I was put on meds for hypertension. Shouldn't the electrolytes be checked first before taking meds for high blood pressure? Truly I believe one should be checked before going on BP meds.
I understand that diabetics should not take HCTZ. I'm diabetic and yet my doc continues to prescribe HCTZ.
Diabetics should generally avoid Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) because it can significantly worsen blood sugar control by impairing glucose tolerance and potentially triggering the onset of new diabetes, primarily due to its tendency to deplete potassium levels which are crucial for proper insulin function; this means that even small doses of HCTZ may negatively impact blood sugar levels in diabetic patients.
I understand that HCTZ raises blood glucose, raises cholesterol,
causes skin cancer and raises blood pressure. You know,
I don't believe I should ever take it again.
Can hydrochlorothiazide cause weight gain?
HOW MANY INNOCENT PEOPLE HAVE TAKEN HCTZ WHICH DEPLETES YOU OF
ELECTROLYTES
THEN DEVELOPED HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE, HIGH CHOLESTEROL, BECOMING FATIGUE,
THEN DEVELOPED INSULIN RESISTANCE WHICH LED TO OBESITY, BECOMING DIABETIC???MAYBE SKIN CANCER??? HOW MANY?
How many meds cause additional issues that require additional
medications? TOO MANY. ALSO how many ingredients are in the
meds that causes health issues that you are not aware of?
Having knowledge about medications can help us navigate through
health issues.
MOVING RIGHT ALONG.
MEAL SAMPLES. IF I CAN STICK WITH IT, an easy meal planner for a day goes something like this, Breakfast is HOT TEA or V8 with some toast and eggs. Lunch is a salad. Afternoon Snack are celery sticks with peanut butter or an apple. Supper is baked, steamed or grilled vegetables. Evening Snack is popcorn. Lots of water throughout the day.
Laundry is going. FINALLY getting to the bottom of the large, green rectangular laundry basket, but another basket is filled with dirty clothing. It's over flowing. If the machine holds up, I should be caught up by next week-end. Didn't succeed at being caught up. I'm a week behind.
👀I will stare at the bottom of the baskets when I get that far and praise the LORD. THEN I can organize the Master closet and celebrate the small things in life having the closet in a better place. This will be a weight off my shoulders.
AS I HAVE BEEN DOING LAUNDRY, I'm pulling items to give away. I have a brown paper bag full of clothing sitting by the front door that will be donated to the THRIFT SHOPPE. When we go to Manhattan tomorrow, I'll donate the clothing at the convenient drop off. More things out of the house.
Here's to a wonderful day and even better week. We have another medical appointment this week. I hope we can go to the Art Museum the next day. We went last July and spent the day. I think we will enjoy another day there and take in the sights.
This week, we'll get the medical appointment out of the way, continue doing laundry and cleaning. Seems simple enough for meeting goals. Slow and easy.
