Decorating On The Prairie: POPCORN

I had no HARVEST decorations out.

Simply used POPCORN KERNELS

in crystal vase with candle.

Would be cute using mason jars for THANKSGIVING
table decorations!

This year with all the shuffling going on in our HOME, 

I didn't get my HARVEST/THANKSGIVING 

miniature decorative pumpkins out of storage.  

Maybe next year.

Adding HARVEST colors by adding ceramic or real pumpkins 
would be a sweet touch for this time of year.

POPCORN KERNELS.

 Easy does it.

Only cost a few pennies.

FALL HARVEST

POPCORN.

Soon

WINTER CELEBRATION

CRANBERRIES.

Can't get much easier or cheaper than that.

Economical.

Autumn Is Ending

~AUTUMN CROP OF BLACK WALNUTS~

Waking up around 4:20am this morning 
is very unusual for me.  I am not an early bird.  Watched the dark skies brighten to grey as the sun came up.  It looks like WINTER outside.

IT WOULD BE SAFE TO SAY

that Autumn is coming to an end as cold weather made her presence known this month.  
With THANKSGIVING this week and CHRISTMAS on the horizon, 

I convinced myself that I have to be ready for the HOLIDAYS by accepting the cold months ahead as WINTER says, "SURPRISE!  I'm here."

The CHRISTMAS TREE will be coming out soon.

I'm decorating HOME in my mind.

Yesterday, I thought it best to take advantage of the 

BUY A HAM and get a FREE TURKEY.

I forgot the boxed dressing due to the frenzy in the air with so many SHOPPERS out.

It was frantic and I didn't want to get caught up in it.

My daughter and grand-daughter surprised me while I was checking out.  
They were arriving to shop.

Daughter treated me to a COFFEE and we chatted.

Earlier in the day, I had gone to a THRIFT SHOP to purchase a set of CHINA half off and I left that place with a PINK CAMEL BACK SOFA on hold until I could arrange for transportation to haul her HOME.

AFTER having coffee with Daughter, 

her vehicle would be used to haul the pink sofa HOME.

I didn't really NEED this sofa, but she was so purdee and such a great price that I bought her for my bedroom.

HUBBY was very surprised!

SURPRISE…guess what I found in TOPEKA?

We now have to figure out how to get this treasure up the stairs.

Two weeks ago, HUBBY made a long trip out to the part of the world where his Parents live and moved into an assisted living  environment.  He brought HOME his Grandmother's three piece 1920ish bedroom set.  Will have to take pics after we get the Guest room switched out with what we had up there.

With my going through all the rooms, drawers, cabinets, closets, nooks and crannies…this HOME of ours is a complete MESS.  She looks as if we are MOVING all over again.  I have to get this place whipped into shape before CHRISTMAS.

Having this finished before 

THANKSGIVING isn't happening.

This AUTUMN with Daughter working closer to HOME and needing her auto during the work week caused a challenge for me at HOME with having no auto.  I was trying to figure out what to do in order to have transportation in our small community.  WALKING on ice cold days isn't a good option, so I was kicking it around to possibly get a utility vehicle to putts about.  A UTILITY VEHICLE.  There are people here that use these.  Our neighbor has one and I thought perhaps this is what I could do as well.

For the same price as a utility cart,

we found a great second hand CADILLAC with all kinds of bells and whistles!  
SOoo we bought her.

She's a very good car for going to the post office 

and picking LIL MISS up from school.

PRAISE THE LORD and thank you Hunny.

Yesterday as I was traveling along the Prairie, 
I missed an award winning photo op.  The Buffalo were near the road grazing the field with a grey sky in the distance and fog enveloping them.  One huge Buffalo was up on a hill waiting for someone to notice him.  I did and I sighed.  He was magnificent.
I knew that I messed up and should always carry my camera when I am out and about.   
No camera with my trac-phone.

Perhaps I will learn my lesson.
  

Time to get a crackin'.
I need to shuffle some furniture this fine day.

Cruet Set

~Cruet Set~

So HAPPY you're mine.

I didn't give up on the hopes of having a cruet set one day.  

15 years passed and all is well.

Came across one in a THRIFT STORE that looked awful.  
Whoever had tried to clean it up, left the polish cleaner dried on it 

which gave it a yucky appearance.

Thought I could clean her up.

  

Purchased it, 

brought it HOME, 

cleaned the yuck off 

and have a nice Cruet Set.

THANKFUL.

MADE ME SMILE.

Granny Nanny and Oversized T-shirts

Busy going through our belongings.

Some make quilts out of t-shirts.  

I saved my kids' over the years and unpacked them as we were going through our things.  

Lil Miss wears one of her Momma's.

Sometimes she sleeps in them.

Each t-shirt brings back a lot of memories.

Can't get much better than this,

(That truly means that 13 years ago I laid eyes on this little baby girl for the first time 

and became a Grandma!  I was amazed.  Ones children are special and all kinds of emotions arise, 

but when my grand-baby was born...I was advanced to a level of honor that was so different.  

My baby had a baby.  Know what I mean?)

SERIOUSLY…you have to be HOME to work 

on HOME PROJECTS when you are the HANDYMAN.  

This Autumn, 

we have been gone gone gone on the week-ends.  

So squeezing in some work has been challenging.  

A little here.  A little there. 

Hubby repaired a crack by the window 

and she looks smooth now. 

   

ONTO TILE ABOVE THE SINK.

The back splash.

First Hubby came up with a design 

which became a computer generated drawing 

printed out on paper and taped up for viewing.

Tile purchased and the work continued.

She's coming along.

Decorating On The Prairie continues.

 One of these days…it will be finished.
