IT'S 1993 ALL OVER AGAIN...ISN'T IT?

I WAS NOT PLEASED WITH THE LINER I BOUGHT FOR OUR PANTRY.
It will not go to waste.  After chatting with Hubby about the liner, we decided to use this in Husband's art studio to line some cabinets.

We located a 40% off coupon and went to the COTTAGE to refigure how much I really need to line the Pantry shelves.  Back to JoAnn's to purchase the liner I really wanted.  That is a better choice.

Went to Menards to pick up some supplies going all over the store looking at building materials and day dreaming for future projects.  This is fun to me.

Drove over to the COTTAGE putting some laundry in the dryer.  I carried the newest shelf liner to the Pantry and decided the pole of vinyl that isn't going to be used can be moved to the Utility room.  This is when it happened.  As I was carrying the large pole of vinyl, I did not see a box of floor tile on the floor and tripped.

I landed on my right hip.  I have no idea how I injured my left arm as I don't remember hitting it on anything on the way down.  I sat on the floor making sure I hadn't broken anything.  Twisted my back, wrists hurt and so do my knees.  I will probably be sore.

I guess I am now accident prone.  Since working on the COTTAGE, I have had a huge box come down on my head while I was in the closet, a stack of cabinet door fronts fell on my right foot and now I tripped on a box of tile landing on my right hip.  Please NO MORE accidents.  I need to pray for NO ACCIDENTS.

It was nice to sit in the TV room watching a 1993 WESTERN and shuffling some books and paper.  I needed to sit.  Just sit.  Kenny Rogers was entertaining us as a bounty hunter.

What was funny is that I also went through a box of old CHRISTMAS CARDS and some were from 1993.  29 years ago.  The movie was from 1993 as well.  I had no problem pitching CHRISTMAS CARDS from religious organizations that we had donated money to so long ago. What amazes me is how I no longer support these religious organizations and the reasons I no longer support them has been eye opening to me.  Some religious tapes went into the trash bin also from 1993.

That's a lot of 1993.  I would have been 38 years old, living in a tiny rental house in Marion, Kansas with three growing children, an aggressive dog, having huge debt that followed us around with a serious cut in Husband's salary, struggling to get back on our feet after a layoff in Texas.  I cried me a river over the financial challenges that didn't disappear.  I was working as a Teacher's Aid exhausted from all that was on my mind.  The weight started showing up on my bones.  1993 is a part of my past and I still have some good memories even though there was high drama from the locals that I would have preferred to have not experienced.  I did meet my best friend in Marion in 1993...she'd pass away later in 2008 at the age of 93.  I got to spend more time with my folks.

We recovered and I am amazed that this time in my life was what it was.  God looked out for us. Hubby worked a hard job.  The children got to experience life in a small town.  They learned to drive cars there, be a part of a small Church, play sports, sing and perform on stage.

1993.  I was the mother of three teenagers.  If I could go back in time, I'd change a few things that I wish I had done different.  I would have liked to have had Family Devotions in a relaxed setting and Family prayer together supporting one another more.

I'm not Jewish, but I believe having SHABBAT meals where we spoke words of life over one another and read some scripture would have been huge blessing to all of us.  Light the candles and pray.  Share a delicious meal and have fellowship.  Lord forgive me for not behaving more like I believe I should have in 1993.

May I change my attitude and be blessed
living in 2022,
~d

SATURDAY SWEETNESS

TODAY IS HERE with powder blue skies and a whopping 12 degrees outside.  BITTER COLD.  I am easily fooled when the skies are so blue into thinking it's a SPRING DAY outside until I read the real temp.  12...are you kidding me?  Snow may be here next week.  Still coat weather.  Which reminds me I need to thin out the coat closet soon.

The rest of this month, I'll spend my time decluttering and organizing some more.  I have been up to my eyebrows in messes, but this morning I saw some headway.  More large yellow envelopes are needed... then I can finish up grouping old pictures and place the envelopes in the desk drawer until deciding what can go into albums and frames.  For now, I made a difference placing the individual pics into the envelopes.  Order from chaos.  PTL.

Hubby painted and caulked the Garden Window in the Kitchen.  I'm so glad this is done.  It looks so clean and freshened up.  I had to wait before returning plants to the window, but it was well worth it.  Tiny blossoms are appearing on the schefflera plant that I repotted in a larger pot with new soil.  A welcomed sign the plant likes the pot it's in and the location.  Now to be returned to the window where it'll receive more natural light.

The dining room walls are getting painted with primer.  3 coats later, a sample of the paint has gone on and is drying.  I looked at it this morning and I'm not sure.  It is so different than what I have been looking at for 4 and a half years.

After I get use to it perhaps it will grow on me.  It'll be a very nice switch from what has been there.  By the end of February, I'm hoping the room will be put back in order and look like a dining room again.

I am planning on a Home-made Chicken Dinner to celebrate the completion of this long drawn out project.

I pray my fried chicken turns out.  My fried chicken never turns out quite like it ought to.  Perhaps this time it will.

He works so hard.

Valentine's Day is on Monday
, so I have some preparations to make for my Sweetheart.  He's planning on fixing a gourmet Steak meal for us where I will decorate the Living room with the Tea Table and chairs in front of the fireplace.  Candles, table cloth, nice dishes and delicious food.  Some classical music will be floating in the background.  He'll receive a Valentine's Card and we'll kiss.

After a very nice meal, I'll prepare his coffee served in the newly polished Silver-plated Service Set.  Real china will be used and real sugar-free chocolates served for dessert.  I pray for a quiet meal with my Sweetheart on Monday.

The sweetness of the week-end is here where LIFE is slow paced and casual.  I love Fridays which lead into the week-end.  Usually our movie night and staying up late...sleeping in waking to a slow start in which I read the newspaper, go through the mail and figure out the rest of my day planning on what needs to be done.

Breakfast: 2 hard boiled eggs with hot tea.
Lunch: 2 cups of cottage cheese sprinkled with blueberries and chopped walnuts.

Planning on baked chicken, asparagus and baked beets for supper tonight.

I have a hair appointment this afternoon and my nails need polished.  A load of towels should be laundered.

Have you ever longed for more intimacy at meal time with soft music playing in the background and candles flickering so the lighting is muted?

Yesterday, I returned to reading about Shabbat on Friday evening.  There is just something so right about starting the evening meal with saying prayers and breaking bread together.  Loving words are spoken over the wife and the husband.  Are you starved for loving words?

If children are present, they hear the words of life spoke over their parents and words of life can be spoken over the children who are hungry for affirmation.

The adults are hungry as well and need nourishment to feed the souls/spirits and body.  When a healthy meal is shared and eaten, the body receives nourishment.  The soul, spirit and body are ministered to at a Shabbat meal.

A special meal time at the end of a very busy week could refresh and revive you spiritually.

How often do other activities tear the family a part?  Too many and it is so easy to get over committed.
Slowing down is healthy for a weary soul.  Spending time together as a family focussing on a loving God creates a peaceful environment.  Amen.

The bananas on the counter were ripe and ready to become cookies.
A very simple and easy cookie to make with only three ingredients becomes a nutritional cookie to devour.

3 Ingredient Banana Oatmeal Breakfast Cookies

1 cup of mashed bananas (2 medium)
1 and half cups quick oats
1/2 cup chocolate chips

1/4 cup of chopped walnuts were added

Mix well and dollop spoonful of cookie dough onto cookie sheet.
Bake on 350 degrees for 15 minutes

Super good after they have completely cooled.

Oh, Baby LOVE comes through the phone.

This is one sweet smile!
I am willing to have more sweet Saturdays
like this one,

DECORATING

I knew a very frugal Lady named Edith that shared with me a excellent guideline for decorating. She said with ease, "If your room has clean ceilings, floors, and walls, and the windows have nice curtains, you'll have an attractive room."

John 3:7

“Marvel not that I said unto thee,

Ye must be born again.”

King James Version (KJV)

PSALM 118:17

I shall not die,
but live, and declare
the works of the Lord.

PROVERBS 24:3-4

By wisdom
a house is built,
and through understanding

it is established;
through
knowledge

its rooms are filled with rare

and beautiful treasures.

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS
SELECTING THE CORRECT SIZE CHANDY TO USE IN A ROOM MADE EASY. FORMULA MEASUREMENTS: Measure the room's height and width. Add together the numbers. Example: 8' x 10' room is 8 plus 10= 18" Use a 18" wide chandy. OR Take width of room calculating 2" for every foot. Example: 15' wide room. Take 15 times 2 = 30. Room needs 30" wide chandy. Standard distance between the bottom of the chandelier to the top of the table is 30 inches. When hanging the chandelier, make sure to hang it at the proper height. The bottom of a chandelier over a dining table or kitchen island should hang 30 to 32 inches above the top of the table or island. Most rooms call for at least 7 feet of space between the bottom of the chandelier and the floor.

WISHES

NO MATTER HOW BADLY YOU WISH with all your might that the something devastating that happened in your life hadn't happened and want so badly to go back in time to prevent it from happening...it isn't humanly possible to do this. You can't change the fact that it happened. IT DID. But JESUS can change the MEANING of what happened to you and give you PEACE. He can show you the way in which you are to go. God richly BLESS you. ~Deanna
