THIS IS A NEW ONE FOR ME. Coined in 2006, this is the first I've ever heard this term. I was surfing asking google if the chemicals in highly processed foods stay in the human fat. This word came up and I thought they were JOKING.
Nope. It's a real word representing chemicals that disrupt the body's normal homeostatic controls in such a way as to promote adipogenesis and lipid accumulation. They are chemicals to which individuals are exposed on an almost continuous basis in foods and beverages they consume and the products they use.
That about says it all. Still I didn't fully understand so I did some reading since I had this new word to look up.
