Immortality German Iris

AFTER A BUSY DAY, I'm sitting in my blue wing chair surfing the net.  The front door is open with the storm door's window open letting fresh air inside.  Thunder just started in the distance and the sound of pitter pat rain is pinging off the windows.  Not sure if this will turn into a heavy storm or not.  Hope it stays away.

We managed to get some landscaping done plus four small geraniums planted in the urns.  I have a metal patio basket that was fixed to hold 6 Begonia plants.  Hubby dug deep holes in the ground for four Little Gem Boxwoods in the front flowerbed.  I love this.  We were working outside at the same time.  Hopefully tomorrow the other five Boxwoods will be planted in the other flowerbed.

Our tiny fixer-upper COTTAGE needs a great deal of work done to her, but for now some shrubs are going in to freshen up the front of the house.  We purchased eight Boxwoods the day before realizing that two more were needed so today when we journeyed back to Topeka for labs, we stopped by to purchase two more.  When we returned to Bomgaars for the Boxwoods, I went ahead and gathered four small white Geraniums for the porch urns and a basket of Begonias.  The Geraniums were cheap enough at $1.99 each.

Just for grins I went looking at Walmart plants.  No white Geraniums.  I priced their Boxwoods.  They were pricier than Bomgaars so I was pleased we got ours at Bomgaars with a Senior Discount.  Drove past Loews and Menards.  No white Geraniums.  Felt good about getting the Geraniums at Bomgaars.

After we got HOME from our quick trip to Topeka, we unloaded our plants, took a breather and started working on our landscaping.  I actually drove our car home from Topeka.  It's been five weeks since I last drove the car.  It was fun to be behind the wheel again.

I LOVE THE PLANTS IN FRONT OF OUR PORCH.  Our COTTAGE being a FIXER-UPPER easily shows that much needs to be done to her.  The proof is in the pudding as some say.  For now, we will do projects as we go.  Making some progress, I know it will be a slow transformation.  No fast fix for us.  The siding on the COTTAGE is in rough shape and will have to be replaced later as we go.  The stone foundation was covered with concrete by someone years ago and we know this will have to be removed later, but for now it is what it is.  ROUGH.  Shabby CHIC galore for real.

I looked at our white Irises along the side of the house which are in a small flowerbed.  I wait all year to see the Irises BLOOM.  Take some pics and admire.  Quite a few of the white Irises have bloomed!  Makes my heart sing. 💖  Lovely to see the flowers open up and grace the property.  Reblooming German Iris Immortality.  A write up about these is as follows.

I managed to plant white Geraniums in urns and deck out the metal basket with small Begonias.

A Large Fern is now sitting on the parlour table on the porch.  
I was going to hang it, but Hubby suggest that it just sit on the table.  Liking the idea, she stayed put.

BEAUTIFUL LANDSCAPING IDEAS

NOT ALL PLACES ON THE PRARIE ARE LOADED WITH BEAUTIFUL PLANTS, FLOWERS, TREES AND SHRUBS.  There's a lot of dirt with nothing else on it.  Some areas have very little growth at all.  Attention to this has to be added although I still like the wide open spaces with grass alone where I can see for miles on end.

Some have compared the open prairie similar to the ocean.  When there is a gentle breeze where the native grasses move like waves I can see what they are talking about.  

The NURSERIES are starting to place plants outside to sell.  

I could spend hours just looking at the pretties.  

I can always go to a City Park and see some landscaping, but it's not the same as when one's yard is decorated with NATURE.  You can step outside anytime and observe it if you so like.

For someone who LOVES the colorful plants and splashes of color,

The landscaping becomes an art form.

My thumb isn't very green, but my appreciation of the beauty is there.

THE MAKINGS OF A BEAUTIFUL YARD requires time and effort to have a manicured look.  Lovely.

The week-end is here and the weather is warming a tad.  
Time to get outside and play in the yard.

I'll be placing the geraniums I have wintered indoors out on the porch later this month.  They need the out of doors with sunshine.
