THREE MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS THIS PAST WEEK. Tired of going. Need to rest and get things done around our estate. Tis true. Our Social Calendar is speckled with medical appointments. I try to make the best of each event because eating out and sometimes Motel stays are included. If we're in a community where there are fun things to do, it may be included.
WEDNESDAY morning we drove to TOPEKA for a special eye check up for my HUBBY. Come to find out that he had a tear inside the eyeball and had emergency laser surgery. Surprise. His eyes were dilated so afterwards I drove the car to WAMEGO for my follow-up cataract surgery on my eyes. I'm having some issues that hopefully will clear up in a month or so. Cloudiness and floaters that I wasn't expecting. Come back in 6 months unless something drastic takes place then call. I'll have to return to get fitted for reading glasses when I am rested. Medicare will pay for standard glasses after cataract surgeries. I'll take advantage of this.
Drove HOME and packed for Kansas City medical appointment for Cancer follow-up on Thursday. Drove to KC. We ate a delicious meal at STROUDS. Hubby requested it and I agreed. The GRAVY could be a meal all by itself. I mean it.
Stopped in to look around at the at home STORE. Huge HOME store. I think it would be a temptation to have access to this hunk of merchandise.

Drove to the Motel that was waiting. Nothing fancy, but the bed was heavenly. Spent the night. Sealy Tempur-Pedic 11" mattress soft and comfy.
I checked out alright at the cancer exam and was told that I more then likely DO NOT carry the DNA gene for uterine cancer as the cancer was hormone driven. Come back in 6 months. You're on the calendar. Check. The lobby was full to the brim. All these women have some kind of CANCER. Each day, I'm sure the lobby is full throughout the day. One woman at a time. Too many people are affected by CANCER. Tis horrible.
When the nurse weighed me, I had put 10 pounds on which is common with hysterectomies. The nurse said something about the weight struggle. I added that I don't feel like I'm struggling, but it is an on going challenge. I don't entertain the word STRUGGLE. Imagine that.
I will be making a list of places I want to go next time we go to Kansas City! Hopefully the weather will be mild mannered.
Nothing like a real BAGEL for brunch so we deliberately stopped at a Bagel Shoppe.
We went to Meshuggah Bagels, a Jewish bagel shoppe. Meshuggah in Yiddish means crazy. The interior of the shop was pleasantly decorated in a primitive American Colonial style. The bagel was delicious and the atmosphere delightful.https://www.meshuggahbagels.com

We checked out a huge grocery store called the Hen House. Oh my...it was outstanding. I'd shop there if I lived in the area. Now, this is some kind of grocery store.
We knew a storm was scheduled to roll in around 3 PM so we headed HOME before that arrived running into stormy weather on the way HOME. RAIN rain rain. By the time we pulled up to our house, I was exhausted. Unloaded some things and took a break. Thunder and lightning took place and the wind blew hard with rain. I drove as Hubby rested his eye that had laser surgery. We're a pair. It's a blessing that we can help one another.
FRIDAY, I was taking it easy in my housecoat. Did some laundry, cleaned out an ice chest, did a great deal of paperwork and cleaned up our calendar. Looking at it, it's kind of difficult to keep all the appointments straight. The laundry pile grew some and I will continue whittling it down. As I work about the house, I am remodeling it in my head. This helps me to keep going.
I haven't cleared off the metal kitchen rack full of baking ware yet that will go onto a metal rack in the Utility room. Aiming to get this done this week-end. Gotta make it happen, but I have to be HOME full of energy in order to make that happen.
With actively going to medical appointments and the rainy weather, I will begin walking this week-end as well. Determined to do this. Amen.
We found ourselves going to St. Marys to watch a Track and Field Meet that Lil Miss was running in. Went early enough to get a Rachel Salad at SUGAR CREEK and an almond milk steamer at MJs. Off to the track. The WIND was awful and I was beginning to think it would get rained out with tornadoes. Prayed. The wind calmed down and the storm clouds blew away. The weather was alright for running. A complete change of atmosphere as the evening went on. Two years ago at the St. Marys Track Meet, it was tornadic weather. This year it calmed down.They flew. Lil Miss ran in two relays which both took first and ran the one mile taking second. It is amazing to see the kids run as fast as they do. Amazing. Such athletes. I think I walked about 1/2 mile going from one stand over to the other side and back and then doing this a second time. Safe to say I got some walking in for the day.
I started a walking journal to keep track of the walking I will get done and to encourage myself to keep it up.
This week-end I AM VERY TIRED. Woke at 7 and went back to bed around 9. Needed more rest. Stormy weather has blown in. Went outside to check on our Irises and make plans for future landscaping. A work in progress. A long work in progress.
The flowerbed by the cellar door has several different Iris types with some white Immortality Reblooming German Irises, some white with yellow beards, Wedding Party, Maraposal Skies which are purple with white, pale lavender which are Song of Norway and some purple heirloom.
The Iris Flowerbed next to a chainlink fence on the left side of the backyard have a variety of different colors which are starting to open and display beautiful blooms. Each day more varieties will open. Waiting for their splashes of color to show up.
This flowerbed by the sidewalk is full of Heirloom Purple Irises which will bloom in a few days. Can't wait. This is the bed that we're thinking about thinning out and placing rows of flowers on the other side of the walk as well. The old garage in the background will be painted in the next 5 years or so. Right now it looks very FARMHOUSE FRIENDLY.

Things on the Prairie are what they are. As I looked through the local newspaper, I tell myself that I have to get more involved with the community. I have shied away from this as when we first moved here in December 2006. Then in 2007, I was babysitting lil Miss and was very isolated from the community. I laid low. Made a few friends.
We moved to a different COMMUNITY IN 2017. ILLNESS AND
C O V I D hit. Still isolated. Busy with family issues, remodeling projects, ill health and infamous fatigue, I declined to be very social. NOW, we relocated to our small COTTAGE with a ton of remodeling projects, medical appointments and more fatigue, BUT I will see about getting more active in our COMMUNITY.
Hubby comes first and then the rest will follow. I think I will slow the pace down and simplify my LIFE for the time being. Here I go.
