~Autumn Parlour~
When walking into the Parlour, it gives me a sense of satisfaction knowing that the Parlour is clean and in order.
Daughter said she'd help clean the two Parlour chandies before Halloween. The dust has settled and they need serious attention. Need drop clothes to cover the big pieces of furniture. Then move the furniture to the other side of the room to when cleaning the chandies. They'll surely sparkle. Oh so purdee. Beautiful chandies. Nothing like them when it comes to the world of luminaries.
The spiders around here are very HAPPY to reside at Home Haven. Very comfortable spinning webs to catch their daily bread. Industrious creatures.
With cold weather moving this way, the radiators will need wiped down and readied for use. Not excited about the snow blowing. Slowing down to enjoy the FALL is a given. I must do this.
There are times that I cannot get enthused about basic cleaning. I'd rather be out laying on my back in a lush green field staring up at the fluffy clouds floating by (No bugs in this fantasy). I haven't laid on my back to watch the clouds since I was a young girl. Tis time. Lord, help me to get back up when needed. What a sight. grins.
The large yellow mums on the porch need replanted. They will be potted into the two tall urns that hold geraniums for now. My geraniums didn't do the best this past Summer. They seem to love the round containers that were used for Patio Garden this past year. Next Spring, I'll return to using the round containers for geraniums. Got a plan.
So today I need to:
1) finish cleaning the Parlour.
2) do two loads of laundry.3) start deep cleaning the Family room by moving books to upstairs.
4) replant the mums.
5) write out grocery list.
6) attend to some medical bills.
7) take a soaking bath.
OVER THE WEEK-END Wamego had their ANNUAL CITY WIDE GARAGE SALE and we 3 girls went SHOPPING. If I spent $20s that would be stretching it. I spent very little! That's a disciplined woman for ya.
Bought a hard back Methodist Church 2000 Cook Book from Arkansas FOR ONE DOLLAR. Meatloaf recipes and Deviled Eggs are a interest to me. Bought Hubby two old tools with wooden handles for 75 cents. A Tupperware spice shaker with black lid. Some jewelry for little of nothing and I think some of it is silver.
It is at events like this that if you needed to furnish a home, you could for little of nothing. If the styles don't offend you, you can buy everything from towels, to dishes, tables and chairs, sofas, television sets, to lamps and pictures, pots 'n pans to clothing to dolls and toys to curtains and blankets to beds and dressers, etc. Enough Christmas decorations to deck out a place and call it gorgeous.
We hit it big.
As we were driving by one of my favorite houses in town...there was a sewing cabinet sitting with a FREE sign on it along with a Singer Sewing machine. We stopped and said HEY! Daughter loaded these up in her auto. She wanted the sewing cabinet and I know she will be able to do something with the sewing machine. She bought the cutest miniature lamp with glass globe for 75 cents and a old fashioned telephone for 50 cents. Blessed by these finds.
KITCHEN DETAILS.
Hubby laid 36 tiles in our kitchen over the week-end. He said there are 17 more that need to be cut to fit and then he will can finish laying floor tile. Grouting takes place. The tile behind the sink and stove come later. If I can get my act together, I'll prime and paint the beaded board wall behind where the fridge will rest. Oh Happy Day when the fridge is actually in the Kitchen and not in the Dining room.
So much work has been done to the Kitchen. It is one of the most difficult, time consuming and expensive rooms to fix up. That and the modern day Bathroom and Utility room. All with plumbing and running water. Drainage and storage. Not just another pretty space.
The First Day Of AUTUMN began with us sitting around a round table in the shade while drinking coffee at 3:35PM and chatting with our oldest Son that was in the neighborhood. He was in the neighborhood attending the TOUGH MUDDER RUN event that was to assist the wounded Vets. On his way back to Oklahoma he stopped by to visit his Sister and Niece. He didn't know that his Dad and Momma would be there. Was good to see him.
THIS WEEK Husband goes to visit with a Surgeon about having a large mass removed from his Thyroid. Am praying. Appreciate prayers. Not sure if it is cancerous or not. A biopsy from almost two years ago said it wasn't, but since then the mass has doubled in size and is pushing his windpipe over. Another biopsy has been requested, but believe the best way to deal with this mass is to take it out and then have it biopsied to see if it is cancerous. The mass has taken up so much of the right lobe that it is painful.
I love this man. Need him and want him well.
