Hello Friend! October is off to a good start.Sunday around 5pm, my husband came into the house and said he was finished roofing!
I asked, "You're done?"
He said, "Yes, I'm done."
I asked, "You're done?"
He said, "Yes, I'm done."
I asked again, "You're done?"
He answered again, "Yes, I'm done."
6 thousand pounds of shingles
1 thousand pounds of roofing felt
about 12 thousand nails
300 feet of flashing
4 gallons asphalt cement
300 square feet of rolled asphalt roofing
LATER...he can say he's done.
He's been roofing off and on for 3 months, first the garage and then the two-story house. Much rain had to be dodged and heat absorbed. It was a tough assignment for one guy to accomplish. So for him to say he's done, I'm relieved. During this task he injured one finger and pulled a calf muscle. There's the clean-up of old shingling pieces and mess on the ground that will be bagged up this week. Then the grounds will be back to the norm.
I am thankful he is finished with this project.
Thank you God and thank you Hubby. There was alot of praying going on while up on the roof and alot of praying going on from the ground.
Thank you all who did pray for us!!! Greatly appreciate your sincere prayers. When we bought our old house, the insurance company wouldn't cover 100% replacement cost of the roof due to the condition of it. We knew this at the time.
Have you ever heard of 4 hail storms in one night? I hadn't, but this is what happened and it did our roof in. We would be in a situation where there would be substantial out of pocket expenses, so my sweet hubby rolled up his sleeves and did the labor himself. We should be able to be fully covered now.
Our house and garage have new brown roofs and we are so glad! This makes our house more like a haven in which we can stay dry. New roofs are wonderful to have.
If you drive by or walk by our home, you might just hear the Hallelujah Chorus being sang. Well, at least the hallelujah part.
