Gradually I'd learn that I don't have to have others permission for being who I am and for doing what I do. Thank you, LORD. You gave me meaning and purpose. You showed me the way and gave me understanding.
In the past before the LORD opened my eyes,
I was hyper~sensitive when others would degrade my position as a stay-at-home woman. I didn't process very well their lack of enthusiasm for what I was doing. I didn't know any better.
It would take a Godly touch to help me wake up and take notice that I wasn't placed on this planet to be a humanistic puppet to please them because they didn't agree with my stay-at-home lifestyle. A Godly touch. Then I knew better.
I've noticed the push of some that are into humanism (and other isms) to campaign and promote to not be a couple, to not be a homemaker, wife and momma. It is a selfish world and they will campaign that you should go it alone. That you don't need anyone else. All that you need is already within you. Get whatever you can without asking. Answer to no one. It's alright to lie and cheat another as long as you get what you WANT. They will suggest to you to do your personal best and be a so-called team player...until you announce you want to get married and stay at home to take care of a husband, family, home and estate. Now somehow this just isn't good enough. What about your education and contributing good works back to society?
Oh if only they knew..........
Remember that 1963 song by Bill and Gloria Gaither,
HE TOUCHED ME?
HE TOUCHED ME
Shackled by a heavy burden,
'Neath a load of guilt and shame.
Then the hand of JESUS touched me,
And now I am no longer the same.
He touched me, oh He touched me,
And oh the joy that floods my soul!
Something happened and now I know,
He touched me and made me whole.
Since I met this blessed Savior,
Since He cleansed and made me whole,
I will never cease to praise Him,
I'll shout it while eternity rolls.
He touched me, oh He touched me,
And oh the joy that floods my soul!
Something happened and I now I know,
He touched me and made me whole.
I no longer have to do a broadway production with back flips while holding sparklers as I sing and dance to give myself meaning as to why I am a Child of God, A Homemaker, Wife or Momma. Jesus touched me and gave me meaning. HE made me whole. HE opened my eyes and called me HIS own.
May we have godly peace as we tend to our family and home.
God bless and heavenly days,
d
PS
If you know of a stay-at-home Lady...even if children are not in the house...would you give her an encouraging word that might lift her spirits for being a KEEPER OF THE HOME? Encouraging word to you is that you are making a difference that has great value and meaning. Pat yourself on the back. If you'd like to be a stay-at-home Lady...my prayers are with you and I'll stand in agreement with you that this come to pass. To those neat husbands that allow us to be HOME BODIES....hows about telling them good job. They're doing the LORD'S WORK by allowing the wife to stay at home.

AMEN! That will preach momma! Love you!
Been there done that!
I always felt put down when someone asked..."And what do you do?" (Most often at social gatherings from ladies who worked outsider the home.)
I was content with my "job"...I LOVED being a wife, mother and HOMEMAKER! It was what I always wanted to be. But I let others make me feel...inferior. I was young and I wasn't bold enough to stand my ground back then.
But as years went by I tried to express to "them" the joy that homemaking brought me. And I started to hear them say they wished they could be able to be a stay at home mom too.
"Godliness with contentment is great gain." I learned how to share that with others. I learned how to share the joy of knowing Jesus!
Now I am an old granny with 14 grandkids and THAT is my passion...along with my hubby we adore being grandparents. And we are enjoying "our" retirement together!
I loved this post Deanna!
Love you,
Linda
This was timely for me. I needed this. Thank you!
Great post Deanna!

Oh dear Dee, I have know so may woman who did go through that. I worked all my life and thought I had not other choice. We could have done with less but educating 6 children is one of the biggest financial hurdles a family must climb over. That is why I feel so blessed to be a homemaker these days. Wonderful wide words.

Good for you! It seems like no matter what you do, there is always somebody there to criticize. But we only need the Lord's and our family's approval, that's all.
I always hated the What Do You Do All Day??? One hairdresser even said, "And You're Not Overweight??" How rude. Ha-ha, Deanna, I actually have to type in "dense," for word verification!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so glad you all shared a comment or two. I enjoy the feed back from friends and family.
Mary, Aren't these word verifications a hoot from time to time?
As I look backwards into my past...I pause and know God knew what He was doing with me and my life. God has a good plan for His children.

I always loved being home and being a homemaker. When I was a young mother, I too felt intimidated by working women/mothers---I felt stupid that 'all' I did was taking care of children, my husband, and home. Actually, I don't think my (then) husband even appreciated me! The children are long gone, and now I work part-time, leaving me some (not as much as I'd like!) time to take care of my home. My 'new' husband enjoys coming home to a warm house with the good smells of food, laundry done, grocery shopping done, errands run, paperwork and filing done, and some creative and useful project being worked on. Home is the BEST, ladies, just in case someone was wavering and not quite sure that homemaking is a blessing for the family. Praise God!
