Hello from Home Haven. Welcome to my Utility Room. This is my first attempt at Metamorphosis Monday sponsored by Susan at BNOTP. I've been following along for months and have enjoyed all the wonderful projects that so many share. This is such a fun way to get ideas and share with others.

And away we go...
This is the oldest house we have ever lived in.
We purchased our 124 year old 2 story native limestone rock house in December 2006. Originally the 1885 house had 4 rooms with a Formal Parlor and Diningroom on the main floor with stairwell also 2 rooms upstairs. The newer part of the house was added on in 1901 with another Diningroom, Kitchen and Pantry. Upstairs 2 more bedrooms with closets were added along with a walk-in closet for extra storage. Somewhere along the way a Utility Room was added beside the kitchen, the Pantry became a Powder Room, the upstairs closet with a stained glass window became a narrow Bathroom.
We liked the old stone house's 22" thick walls that curve into the window sills, the 9' ceilings, and the original wood floors. We knew that the kitchen would need a face lift, one of the bedrooms turned into a larger bathroom and the roof reshingled. We started out by remodeling the Utility Room to house our new appliances.
The former owners had their washer and dryer along the wall where the little window was. I wanted my washer and dryer sitting closer together so we would put them to the right of the door. Here is what the former owners Utility room looked like.
We moved the units out and proceeded to change the room.
Removed 2 small wall cabinets.
What a mess...it would get messier as we went,
but that's just part of getting from point A to point B.
The labor continues.
The work continued.
With under the house plumbing required to relocate the hook ups
and wiring completed to place a new heater board,
it took longer than we thought.
More detailed work than anticipated.
This is my sweet husband under the house.
Not an easy thing to do.

New hook ups in place along the different wall.
Beaded board was placed on the sheetrock walls. New tile laid.
New heater board installed. Beaded board primed and painted.
She's taking shape.
Ceiling is retextured and painted. New light fixture installed.
This is when we came across a magazine picture
that led us to want a built in coat rack beside the back door.
Some plans were sketched out.
Since the rock wall was the original outside wall of the house before the Utility Room went in, the beaded board that went on the sheetrock had to be custom fitted to meet the rock wall just so so.
This will be the wall that the washer and dryer sit against.
It's been alot of hard work.
So glad we've come this far. We still want to add a shelf above the washer and dryer. If you want more details about the projects, my hubby has a site called: Thisoldstonehouse.blogspot.com
After the shelf is built and ready to go, I want to put this old laundry basket on the shelf where it would be in its rightful place. I've enjoyed this old basket for over 20 years.
I paid $12 for it at an auction and was shaking with delight that I won the top bid! One of my Aunts said that she slept in this basket as an infant and Aunt Carol is now way into her 80s.
