TUESDAY. Tis a nice day outside as I sit here typing out plans for the day. I was trying intermittent fasting this morning. I'll have lunch in a few minutes. A large salad with kale and spring greens, chick peas, three bean salad, some cottage cheese and what ever else veggie I can find in the fridge. Hope there are some cherry tomatoes. Avocado. Some nuts. Some black beans.
This might become a salad higher in calories than I thought, but be nutritionally dense.
I have done a great deal of reading the last few days about type 2 diabetes and intermittent fasting for diabetics. Apple cider vinegar may help me out. It's been a week since my physical where I was told that I am now diabetic and have a degenerative disc in my back. I have three months and three weeks until more blood work will be done to see how I'm progressing. Working at getting my numbers down and some weight off me bones. Keeping in mind that 4 months is a third of a year. There's HOPE. It's called change. I have to change me. I have to believe I can do this and then do it.
According to Mayo Clinic:
Overview
Type 2 diabetes is an impairment in the way the body regulates and uses sugar (glucose) as a fuel. This long-term (chronic) condition results in too much sugar circulating in the bloodstream. Eventually, high blood sugar levels can lead to disorders of the circulatory, nervous and immune systems.
In type 2 diabetes, there are primarily two interrelated problems at work. Your pancreas does not produce enough insulin — a hormone that regulates the movement of sugar into your cells — and cells respond poorly to insulin and take in less sugar.
Type 2 diabetes used to be known as adult-onset diabetes, but both type 1 and type 2 diabetes can begin during childhood and adulthood. Type 2 is more common in older adults, but the increase in the number of children with obesity has led to more cases of type 2 diabetes in younger people.
There's no cure for type 2 diabetes, but losing weight, eating well and exercising can help you manage the disease. If diet and exercise aren't enough to manage your blood sugar, you may also need diabetes medications or insulin therapy.

It has been sobering to find out that I crossed over to being diabetic. I had been over weight for years, but seemed to have leveled off and stayed steady at the weight I was, but then the weight began to rise again after thyroid removal due to cancer almost 11 years ago. As much as I have tried to destress my life, I have not been successful at eliminating what is causing high stress in my life. I have not been able to not care about much. It's not in me to not care. Shifting gears isn't possible. I don't want to drink my problems away with alcohol or drugs. Disassociating myself from certain people is more trying than I can talk about. So my lifestyle change has to be in the eating department, embracing nutrition and health, motion in my body, finding things to do that bring me joy, take care of myself and pray. The ME Department has to be a focus.
Today, I will do some laundry which means I have to dry the load at the cottage and while I'm there I will work at cleaning the kitchen. She's needing some attention. I'll work some and rest some. Repeat. I can sit over there and think about remodeling her and what to do to achieve this. Rearranging furniture and hanging pictures is one of the most economical ways to change the feel of a room. Simplest form of giving a room a facelift is to paint it. Economical also. When it's the kitchen, a thorough cleaning brightens the place.
SO I will begin in the kitchen and refreshen it by a thorough cleaning. I'll open the window and wash the glass and trim while fresh air comes into the room. The waste can will be emptied and then I can give the can a bath. The countertops cleared off and sanitized. All of the wood cabinets polished. The fridge and stove polished. Items sitting around gathered and grouped together until I figure out what to do with the goods. Floor swept, washed and scoured. If I can get this far, I will be a happy camper. I'll have to rest my back throughout the day. Then it will time to head HOME and prepare supper. I'll shower, shampoo my hair and curl it. Put some laundry in. Read and rest. Tuesday will be a productive day I hope.
