DARING TO WALK IN THE WIND AS AN OLD WOMAN

I DARED TO WALK IN THE WIND COMING HOME WITH WIND BURN CHEEKS.  I walked to the football field walking only one lap because of the fierce wind and HOME again.  32 mile an hour Kansas Prairie WIND and I was done.  Wind GUST were ferocious.   

I was glad to sit down in my blue wing chair holding a handheld battery operated fan that was blowing in my face.  Hubby was so kind to fix me a tall glass of unsweetened Iced Lusianne Tea. 

Then my kind sir served me a homemade grilled cheese sandwich with a bowl of tomato soup. Crackers to the side.  I had no trouble eating this gourmet meal.  I'll clean up the dishes after my NAP.  I walked about 30 minutes so when I got HOME it was close to lunch time and he was hungry.  I should go walking in the wind around lunch time more often.  grins.

He had hung the chandelier and placed the glass globes on it.  A problem arose that we are trying to figure out.  The chandy now hangs with a terrible slant that it didn't have when hanging without the globes.  Gotta figure this one out.  He did and the chandy looks wonderful.

I have envisioned how the rooms in the COTTAGE will look after we get our hands on them.  I'd like to upgrade the look some instead of having such plain looking rooms.  Each room will be repainted and probably have crown molding.  I'd like to have wainscoting in the Dining room.  Dress it up a bit.  Something significant done to the floors.

The two toughest and expensive rooms to remodel are the kitchen and bathroom.  I'll add a third with the utility room.  Houses with large closets and beautiful rooms are people friendly.

WALKING IN THE WIND

DO I DARE?  When I was a child, I loved playing outside in the backyard when it was incredibly windy.  I need my exercise, so shall I walk in the wind?  I believe I will.  It's still morning and I would like to.  Temps are lovely and adding some breeze to this would be a good combination of the elements to where I would benefit.

I can hear the wind blowing through the trees rustling the leaves causing them to fly away.  Our AUTUMN has been pleasant.  Temps comfortable with blue skies and gentle breezes.  What a beautiful day this is.

One of the trees out front our COTTAGE stands tall and majestic full of leaves that have changed into the yellow hues.

Yesterday's Breakfast with fruit and sprinkled nuts.  No grains.

Last night's Salad was made of Spring Greens, crunchy Croutons, sliced Cucumbers, Garbanzo Beans, Black Beans and Celery with Catalina Salad Dressing.

Hubby working on the Dining room Medallion.  The ceiling fan was taken down and the medallion added.

Chandy up.  

Today, he will repair one of the metal pieces that dangles down, 

then add the glass globes.

Looking forward to having the glass globes on it.

Oh, so pretty.  As we decorate the COTTAGE, I find that we do a little here and a little there as we go.

For now, I must go for my walk in the wind getting some exercise and fresh air.  My hair will be a mess and that's alright.  I can handle messy hair with wind in my face.

When I return, I'll rest, do some paperwork, laundry, fix lunch, probably take a nap to get refreshed to withstand the rest of the day. Not sure about supper yet.  There's a big bag of green beans.  Perhaps that will be the side dish with a turkey patty.

While I walk, I will pray and have communion with the Lord.

DECORATING ON THE PRAIRIE: LET THERE BE LIGHT!

AND THERE WAS!

WHEN WE BOUGHT OUR HOUSE ALMOST FOUR YEARS AGO, there was no ceiling light in the Living room.  Previous owners apparently lit the room with lamps.  Earlier on, the owners had sconces in the room which have disappeared as others modernized the interior of the home.

Our $5 solid brass chandy has been put to good use.  We had decided to install a chandelier that we had.  It was used in our rock house until we got a different chandy.  This Williamsburg chandy went out to the garage for a few years.  We moved in 2017 and the chandy came with us.  

This chandelier has a history with us when we bought it about 9 years ago for $5.  Our thrifty buy was in pieces when we spied it lying in some snow in the yard of a thrift shop. We brought her HOME and my dear talented HUBBY cleaned her up and assembled her.  I was thrilled to have her then and I'm thrilled to have her hanging in our new house. After we moved to this present location, we had a new ceiling put in the living room, Hubby asked that a hole be made so a light could be hung.  It paid off.  We have been living with a hole in the ceiling. Started looking at lights.  Time flew by and here we are.  With this horribly cold weather, our forgotten chandy went up instead of purchasing a different one. 

A medallion was painted 3 coats of Benjamin Moore Cotton Ball paint, then installed.  Chandy went up next.  We are so pleased to have more light in the room!  It makes me really happy to look up at the light and marvel.
