THRIFTY THURSDAY WAS A THRILL

TIS THURSDAY AND I WENT THRIFTING.  What a thrill!  My mouth with stitches is tender and I pretty much have to take the day easy.  No debate about that.  Last week I came across a nearby shop shared on FACEBOOK in which I spied Alfred Meakin Copper Lustre Tea-Leaf Ironstone china.  My thoughts were 'come next Thursday when they're open I'll venture there.'

Even with the sore mouth, I mustered up some gumption to go.  Hubby came with me to the shop in Wamego, Kansas.  The shoppe was charming inside.  I told the clerk I saw some Tea Leaf dishes on Facebook, but didn't know which booth the dishes were in.  She knew right away and said that these pieces are across the shop.

She took me straight to the booth with the coffee pot I had seen.  Bingo.  I'll take it.  Some bowls and dishes were to follow.  This afternoon I'll take the stickers off and wash the pieces then play at placing them in the Library case that holds my COLLECTION.  Tis growing.  This shoppe had the most Tea Leaf pieces I have ever seen in one place.  I look when we go on the road and stop at antique stores.

The Alfred Meakin Tea Leaf Ironstone are on my radar these days.  I've got to read up on these again as my recall dims.  I'll snap some pics later of what I snagged to share.

I've got some reading to do to get better educated about Tea Leaf.

IGNORANT AND UNEDITED

TOO OFTEN MY POST ARE TYPED UP LATE AT NIGHT OR WHEN I AM EXHAUSTED, which seems to be often as I suffer with constant fatigue due to not having a thyroid.  Coping with fatigue is difficult and when other illnesses visit an already tired temple, it is a different world to comprehend.  Until you walk a mile in someone else's shoes, you may not fully understand the way it is.

SO many times after I have posted an article and gone back at a later date, I find spelling errors. Not the end of the world or trying to make an A in school, but still there they are.  A chuckle and a grin later, I try to correct the mistake.  Too late.  The post has been read.  Ignorant and unschooled, the mistake needs edited.

Catching the mistakes while I proof read the post doesn't always work, does it?  Too tired to catch it or not knowing any better.

Waking at 5 this morning found me putting dishes away.  I looked at the kitchen counter tops deciding that the small metal tray holding coffee items like disposable cups, lids and stirrers needed washed.  Cleaned it up some.  I filled the green depression glass cookie jar that holds coffee pods with more pods.  That'll make Hubby HAPPY to see a full container of pods ready for his morning coffee.  He is a strong coffee drinker.  STRONG.

I've wanted to clean the counter top small oven for a while now so I took the wire racks out of it and scrubbed them in the sink.  SOS pads work well on this.  The inside of the oven was sprayed with oven cleaner and will sit for 24 hours before I finish cleaning it.  While I'm at it, I need to clean the inside of the big oven.  Think I'll do this in a few days.  It will need to sit for 24 hours after it is sprayed as well.  We will stop using this oven after she is cleaned since we are moving.

I'll have to work in pulling weeds out of the flowerbeds next week.  We do not have a vegetable garden this year, but the place where one has gone in is terribly overgrown with grass, weeds and small trees.  We'll be focusing on the inside of the house THEN the outer will get attention.

I fell back asleep for a couple of hours before continuing my day.  That was a welcomed thing as I dreamed about finding a white kitty that I was going to feed.  meow.

Here we are living it up on the WEEK-END.  Just got back from PAXICO, KS to take the clawfoot tub feet in to have nickeled.  It will take about 6 to 8 weeks to get this done and while we were there, I spied 4 old oak chairs for a great price that will be used for our oak round table that did not have any chairs.  We'll have to go back over this afternoon in the cruiser to load them up and haul to the COTTAGE.

Two Alfred Meakin Copper Lustre Ironstone TEA-LEAF Saucers were found and they came HOME with me.  They are from about 1850-70s.  They were very popular in their day.  Not so much now, unless you are like me.  I seem to find a piece here and there.  This is my new TREASURE HUNT!

The gorgeous lamp I had my eye on was gone.  Frown.  Sniff sniff.  I'll live, but I sure liked the lamp and have regrets that I didn't purchase it earlier in the year.

We are off to haul more boxes over to small town America.  I will be relieved when these boxes are all over there then we will have to clear out the basement here and we're not ready for that yet.  Perhaps these vinyl storage tubs will fit in the garage over there and we can relocate them to the cellar later on.  Sounds like a good plan.

I need to still move my Husband's clothing to the rack in the Kitchen then make a haul over to the COTTAGE.  I have to hang the shirts on multi-hangers so all the clothing will fit our closet. We're going from two nice size cedar lined closets to a single closet.  We have to downsize and that's the way the cookie crumbles.  The closet will be remodeled later and I think I have it figured out to where there will be one higher rod for coats and dresses on one side of the closet with a L-shaped space to hold 4 smaller rods for our casual clothing where dress clothing goes on the 2 bottom rods and casuals on the two upper rods.  Some shelving up even higher.  Not sure I will cedar line it or not.  Might be a nice feature though.

I have boxes upstairs that need brought down to the main floor and then they will go over to the COTTAGE.  When all this is said and done, it will be wonderful.  I'm ready to be over at the COTTAGE to live even if it is a FIXER UPPER.  Turning loose of this large fine house will have to come and I have been saying good-bye to her for over a half of a year knowing this is a temporary place to live.

I have one son running this week-end at a 24 hour endurance race and another moving into a new house he purchased.  Our daughter is gardening and making plans for celebrating LIFE this week.  Hubby and I are working at moving our boxes and whatever else we need to do.  Not sure what everyone is doing.  Somewhere in here I might trim my hair.  Thinking about cutting some bangs.  I might cut some long ones so if I freak out it won't take forever and a day to grow back.

I was thinking that after we get to where we are moved and the big house sold that I would like to sew some summer clothes for me as I need some new blouses and shorts so I don't wear just t-shirts and jeans.  Wearing what I call CAMP SHIRTS/BLOUSES would be slightly more dressy and I believe I am ready to be slightly more dressy.

I would like to try out my treadle sewing machine.  Thinking about stitching some bed comforters as well.  The pink bedroom will now be the VICTORIAN ROOM and I would love to have elaborate bedroom draperies as there is only one window in the room.

STILL DREAMING UNEDITED DREAMS.  I may be ignorant, but I can still dream.  Keeping the thought life active is entertainment and keeps the brain active in a good way.

Sweet Dreams.
HOME LIFE is for me,

DECORATING

I knew a very frugal Lady named Edith that shared with me a excellent guideline for decorating. She said with ease, "If your room has clean ceilings, floors, and walls, and the windows have nice curtains, you'll have an attractive room."

John 3:7

“Marvel not that I said unto thee,

Ye must be born again.”

King James Version (KJV)

PSALM 118:17

I shall not die,
but live, and declare
the works of the Lord.

PROVERBS 24:3-4

By wisdom
a house is built,
and through understanding

it is established;
through
knowledge

its rooms are filled with rare

and beautiful treasures.

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS
SELECTING THE CORRECT SIZE CHANDY TO USE IN A ROOM MADE EASY. FORMULA MEASUREMENTS: Measure the room's height and width. Add together the numbers. Example: 8' x 10' room is 8 plus 10= 18" Use a 18" wide chandy. OR Take width of room calculating 2" for every foot. Example: 15' wide room. Take 15 times 2 = 30. Room needs 30" wide chandy. Standard distance between the bottom of the chandelier to the top of the table is 30 inches. When hanging the chandelier, make sure to hang it at the proper height. The bottom of a chandelier over a dining table or kitchen island should hang 30 to 32 inches above the top of the table or island. Most rooms call for at least 7 feet of space between the bottom of the chandelier and the floor.

WISHES

NO MATTER HOW BADLY YOU WISH with all your might that the something devastating that happened in your life hadn't happened and want so badly to go back in time to prevent it from happening...it isn't humanly possible to do this. You can't change the fact that it happened. IT DID. But JESUS can change the MEANING of what happened to you and give you PEACE. He can show you the way in which you are to go. God richly BLESS you. ~Deanna
