Relieved the week-end is here. Resting well at night helps energize me for the next day. Last week I spent quite a few hours in the car going places and attending medical appointments. My Physical Therapy appointments were extra hard as I did exercises that made me sweat. Fatigued afterwards.
Hubby had a appointment with a cancer doctor on Friday to go over his blood work from previous week. The WAIT AND WATCH philosophy is at work here. His labs looked good. A second CT scan will be scheduled and the lymph node in the neck that is bothering him will be checked again.
I'm not sure where this will go. In the mean time, I'll be researching and studying how others deal with non-hodgkins lymphoma.
I am on the last days of the DANIEL DIET! Hurray. Tomorrow is day 21 for me. I did it. Praise the Lord.
I will finish this out and then on Monday, I will have spaghetti with real beef. I'll go easy on the noodles. I can do this. As the week advances, I'll continue to eat more veggies than not. Some fruit will be added in. The main substance in the diet will be vegetables and fruit.
Chicken, beef, turkey, eggs, cheese, nuts and seeds will be eaten for protein. If I have bread or cereal it will be EZEKIEL.
Oats occasionally. Cottage cheese the same. Yogurt. Add some fruit and nuts to these. Makes for a great breakfast or snack.
Vitamins, minerals, amino acids plus apple cider vinegar are being taken.
Smaller portions and stepping on the scale ever so often to see progress with losing weight. Next week I hope to drop a few more pounds. Close to 8 weeks before my labs will communicate how I'm doing with lowering sugar glucose. Weight should be taken and blood pressure.
Lately, I have been viewing videos about decorating. Still interested in organizing. Some time spent on studying up on cults. A couple of weeks ago Gwen Shamblin Lara died in a airplane crash along with her husband Tarzan, son-in-law and 4 adults involved in leadership of her church.
It's odd how a few weeks before she died, I had looked her up to see what she was up to as she was the boss lady with the WEIGH DOWN program. Then she dies in a crash. I had stopped associating with her after the news came out that she didn't believe in the Holy Trinity. Many stopped associating with her after this. I wasn't aware that she created a church in which she was the Pastor.
She was referred to as a Prophetess. Stop right there. There has been many a church movement started by women that turned into cults through history. Many started in the mid 1880s. Some do not agree with the Bible that says women should not be spiritual leaders over men. Doesn't the Bible say women should not be the spiritual head of churches?
When I googled Gwen, I was taken aback by her hairstyle which reminded me of Jan Crouch of TBN. Jan died a few years back from complications from a stroke. She wore several wigs upon her head and wore lots of make-up. Gwen on the other hand looked like she just ratted and teased her hair piled on top of her petite body.
The pictures and videos I saw of her showed a progression of how her make-up morphed from looking natural to having brown lines drawn around her lips and overpowering eye shadow on upper eyelid to migrating under her eyes almost like what football players wear to shield the sunshine from blinding them while playing ball. Wearing high heels on her short stature that would help one fall over breaking an ankle.
Gwen with her first husband, David that helped her develop the WEIGH DOWN program and encouraged her. This marriage ended in divorce in August 2018. She was seeing the actor who played the television TARZAN before she divorced. Quickly after divorcing David, Gwen married Joe Lara. She was strongly opposed to divorce until she went through it herself then her teachings changed.I got the impression that her message of salvation she gave was not by grace through Jesus Christ, the only begotten son of God, but one of works with self denial. She was off the mark. I watched her message of being born again and it was lacking God's truth that Jesus Christ is the only begotten son of God that died on the cross for all of mankind's sin and it is by believing that we receive him as ones personal savior. Hers was by works of self denial. Works.
Jesus said, "Come unto me all ye who are heavy laden and I will give you rest." He did not say, "AND by the way, if you are FAT, don't bother me. I'm only here for the skinny."
Gwen taught that if you are FAT you will not enter Heaven. Hmm. Jesus didn't teach getting saved isn't possible if you are FAT. Your spirit man isn't limited to being born again through Christ because of your physical appearance.
She definitely was into self denial of food, but the earthly mansion she lived in did not speak of one who denied themselves earthly riches.
I questioned years ago how her philosophy of eating only when one is hungry after the stomach growls worked when raising young children that need routine with three square meals a day with healthy snacks. This technique does not work when needing to fix children daily meals. It isn't healthy either when needing to have blood sugars stay stable.
I get it... when it comes to eating, one should eat slowly chewing the morsel that's in ones mouth. I get it... chewing the food until it liquifies in the mouth before swallowing. I get it... to use smaller plates to eat off of and smaller portions. I get it, BUT I don't agree with Gwen's idea that you can eat anything you want...just eat until you are satisfied then STOP. No problem with between bites lay your fork down taking sips of a beverage.
I don't believe that you can eat anything as sound advise coming from a registered dietician. I don't believe she ever got into the message of nutrition at all. She believed the fewer calories you consumed the skinnier you'd be like the Holocaust victims at Nazi camps. Starvation is not the answer. OH Lord, these poor people. Sigh.
I have since learned that all calories do not burn the same. 200 calories from a donut does not burn the same in the human body as 200 calories from vegetables does. Advising someone that they can eat anything they want, but stopping after a few bites is not healthy. Of course many people want to hear, "Eat all you want of what ever you want." with there being no concerns about healthy nutrition to fuel the body.
Isn't that clever where the l's in naturallyslim look like a slender waist? A few years back, my husband and I did a program through his employment company called NATURALLY SLIM by Marcia Upson which had the same philosophy of eat what you want. It concerned me then as it does me now that this isn't based on nutrition, but appeals to a person's lust and gluttony. NATURALLY SLIM has changed its name to WONDR Health without the E. Marcia is rolling in the dough.
She had a pretty sweet GIG as she was lined up with many Oil Companies and other institutions to use her program to lose weight. When it came time with my husband's work where they had to earn points to get a better rate on their health insurance prices, we humbled ourselves and took the bait. I learned how to score a perfect number on the quizzes we were required to take to receive credit for the program to get cheaper insurance. Ta-daah. I also learned that there is such a thing as subliminal messages that people are subjected to that does not direct one to eating healthier foods or being healthy at all just so you look the part of being slim and youthful. You can now be a cookie cutter human in a world of mystery.Non-Alcoholic FATTY LIVER is at an all time high and climbing in the United States of America due to eating highly processed foods with high fructose corn syrup, trans fats, artificial sweeteners, additional sugars, high sodiums, GMO corn and wheat, chemicals and additives. Also I suspect some medications have had a part in this.
Some people have the overall look of being slender, but this doesn't necessarily mean they are healthy. Skinny on the outside may mean diseased liver on the inside.
Striving to be healthier is more important than being so skinny you are skin and bones. The battle to thin down can become more peaceful than constantly being at war with food. Pray God's peace and comfort over oneself and pray to eat and drink what is healthy.
More vegetables and fruit, easy on the meats, dairy, grains, low on carbohydrates. Spring water, no sugary beverages, give up artificial sweeteners. Eat slower from smaller plates. Chew, chew, chew the food. Eat nutritionally dense foods that are organic and non-GMO.
Hello Saturday. I hear you loud and clear.
