When the neighborhood dogs start barking, the mailman is delivering the area mail. Twice a morning I can hear the canine choir bellowing out their tune. It's loud. Annoying.
Thankfully it doesn't last longer than 10 minutes. Whooof whooof. Woof woof.
This noise pollution is by far better to take than high powered train whistles blaring umpteen times throughout the day as well as in the dark of the night. Hopefully, I will get use to the barking as I did the train whistles. After all it's a earth friendly alarm telling me the mail is on the way. My personal alert.
Today I'll go to TOWN to mail Family pictures to relatives, wash 3 loads of towels, visit the THRIFT SHOPPE and plant some light pink Geraniums in two round planters. If I accomplish these tasks, I will take a break and enjoy the SPRING weather while sipping something like Pero.
Grey skies this morn where the birds are chirping. It may be one of those stormy days with thunder showers. We have a Momma bird that built her nest in the Kitchen porch on top of the metal fuse box. Didn't have the heart to turn her away as she feverishly built her NEST for her lil eggs.
AT first, she'd fly away when we exited the door or entered the house. Slowly she stopped fluttering out. My Husband is the bird and animal whisperer. He'd talk to her in a low gentle voice and she started staying put. When she stayed away longer than he thought prudent, he took the camera, raised it up to catch a glimpse of the eggs. Snap. These eggs had yellow beaks. The eggs were now hatched. Momma bird is hunting worms to feed her babes.
After they fly the coop, the nest will be removed. Later a screen door will go on the porch. No more bird's nest. One mustn't forget that as the birds get bigger before flying out, there will be bird poo to clean up. Love the birds, but don't especially like their waste product. grins.
Hubby and I battled moving the antique bed headboard up the flight of stairs, turn the corner in the landing and continue up half a dozen more steps, down the hall then turning into bedroom. We made it with a whole lot of huffing and puffing.
NEXT came the footboard. He started to assemble the bed with the 2 heavy wood side rails and footboard as I balanced the footboard. She is sitting in her new HOME. I think she looks beautiful. Better than when I first saw her last SUMMER. When we were loading her up in the moving truck, she had become even prettier than when sitting in the SHOPPE. She's burled walnut and over a hundred years old. Beautiful.
The bedroom is small, but think the way it will be arranged will be manageable. Positioning the bed into place along the wall. Tonight we hope to carry up the mirror from the dresser. Large and heavy. THINK we'll have to call in the troops to get the bottom of the dresser and washstand upstairs. Extremely heavy. Very weighty for two old people in their 60s.
This week I had hoped to get the Bedroom Suite upstairs. We are on target. The week isn't over. Next week the church pew will return to the Kitchen nook which means a metal rack and work island will have to be relocated. If it isn't one thing, it's umpteen other things. smile. SOmewhere in here I will have to rearrange the food pantry and find nooks and crannies to put extra dishes and misc.
By the end of JUNE, I hope to have a mattress/boxspring on order for the Antique bed, bedding, both Guest rooms ready for company to sleep in them, the Kitchen tidied again, the Living room all organized, plants on the porch, new glasses on my face and the fire recovery notes typed up. Goals.
Have a pleasant day!
