Now back to what does my sister and daughter have in common with Martha Washington...nothing really, but we sure had fun!




Oh, the pain of it all to look BEAUTIFUL!!! Recently my sister came to visit us for a week and she and my daughter had two beauty nights where they had fun playing Beauty Shop. I stayed out of their way and took photos. Thanx GIRLS for being good sports. You both look lovely.

Autumn Falls At Home Haven

Thank you for dropping by HomeHaven and saying Hello.

Last week-end I ventured out to our garage storage and located some HARVEST Decorations and began to change the home atmosphere from Summer to Autumn. Slow poke me is ahead of the game! I move at a slower pace these days and have to take planning ahead seriously.

With tongue in cheek, I'm having difficulty taking this here Global warming when it's 48 degrees on a August 30, 2009 morning. The cooler temps are way below the August norm. It's wonderful for a roofing husband that's hurrying to complete the house roofing before October 1st.

So far there are Autumn Decorations in the Diningroom (on top of one of the curio cabinets), on the Parlor coffee table (Fall Centerpiece with candle in globe), Fall Wreaths hanging on the front doors.

As the month of September progresses, the outside scarecrows will show up in the flower beds, on the benches and on the front porch.

Dear Ones, I decided to have FUNNNNNN with life and that means decorating!!! Too often sad turn of events weigh me down and it's real easy to not remember that life isn't all about imperfect things in a fallen world. With high regards for a Holy God and Godly Living how can we not celebrate the joys? Jesus said, Be of good cheer! For I have overcome the world!

This past week, my 58 year old brother was hospitalized. It's been

discovered that he has type 2 diabetes. This took us all by surprise. Life is full of challenges and surprises.

Some things I cannot change. Some things I can. I am going to celebrate the beauty of life that God has given me and choose to celebrate by decorating!!!

Can you dig it? I mean can you dig out those Autumn/Fall/Harvest Decorations and add some cheer to your HOME?

Smile on.

Shine on.

'Life Just Got A Little Easier' PEANUT BUTTER Cookie

Life Just Got Easier Peanut Butter Cookie Recipe!

Or "The Austin Cookie" 
When my son Austin was in the Second Grade, he came home having written this Peanut Butter Cookie Recipe for a penmenship assignment.  I still have the piece of paper.  We quickly adopted this recipe and have used it through out the years.  He is now close to 32 years old.  IT'S ONE GOOD COOKIE RECIPE!

INGREDIENTS:

1 Cup Peanut Butter

1 Cup Sugar

1 Egg

Mix well in bowl.

Shape into balls.

Press with fork.

Bake at 350 degrees for 9 minutes.

Simple as 1, 2, 3.

Watch these quickly disappear.

Sometimes we all need a helping hand and the quicker the preparation, the better. My daughter had her 2 year old help her fix these cookies. Cookie dough was placed on aluminum sheets that were on a wire rack placed into a small counter size convection oven. Clean up was easy.

Home is a wonderful place to live. No matter the size of the rooms in that home, our home is our home and a place to call our own. 

May your HOME be a pleasant place to be.

County Fair At Small Town America

Each Summer a County Fair is held at Small Town America on the Fair Grounds.
Come see what we saw as we leasurely walked about.

Some of the younger children rolled down a gentle slope and called it fun. Simple pleasures that I'm sure they will remember as they grow into adulthood. If I weren't such a Lady...I would have joined them and called it good. We leisurely walked the Fair Grounds looking at the ducks, goats, chickens, horses, cows, rabbits, pigeons, geese, sheep, pigs, quilts, artwork, photographs, inventions, booths, people, food stands, and who won a ribbon.

Not too many men in these parts of the country have the patience or desire to wear their hair below their bottom. AND YET right here in the middle of CATTLE COUNTRY was a young husband and daddy brave enough to allow his strands to hang down his back. My photograph isn't the best and I didn't want to gawk at him, but captured his image as best as I could. He would have won a purple ribbon for BEST OF SHOW if I had been a Judge.
