Beauty Tip

Hello, my name is Deanna
and I'm a lipstick ADDICT.

After cleaning out my make-up box....I confess.....I. am. a. addict.
Especially FOND of LIPSTICK.

The beauty TIP to share is one you probably already know about, but thought it was worth repeating.

How many of you nice people out there use lip liner?
For every lipstick shade you use, do you use the same color lip liner so there isn't any lipstick making a GET AWAY past your mouth onto and into outer edge creases/wrinkles?

I decided to get a lip liner that best matches my natural color of lips and use it with each shade of lipstick that I use.

Easy does it and it matches the natural color of one's lips.
One lip liner per mouth.
Beauty Tip on a budget!

Also use the lipstick for your blush/rouge.
Exact match.

All the best to you,
d

Pouting On The Prairie

A love for dolls has stayed with me through the years.
The newest addition is a pouty girl
that I picked up at a thrift shop.

My Mom was with me when I gathered the doll
in my arms to buy her.
Mom teased,
"I thought you were downsizing..."

I am, but I have room for this one!

Meet her sister.

Still a little girl at heart.
Blessings,
d

Jessie Willcox Smith

Jessie Willcox Smith was a prominent female illustrator
that I read about today after researching a plate that I was cleaning
from one of those infamous vinyl storage boxes from our cellar.

My stash of dishes has grown, but this one of the little girl
caught my eye as so very sweet.

Jessie Willcox Smith's artwork on a Keepsake plate
made me sigh and smile at the same time.

~EASTER~
 1986 Knowles China Plate
first issue in the Jessie Willcox Smith
Childhood Holiday Memories series depicting our best-loved holidays
as seen through the eyes and heart of a child.

I wonder if she'd approve of her artwork on dishes since she illustrated for many magazines.
At any rate...I sure like her work.

Take a look,
d

Great Day In The Morning

Haven't rambled in a while so here goes......
Staying cool as I can during this heat wave where the heat index makes the atmosphere feel so much hotter it can kill.

Tried to explain what a heat index is to LIL Miss
and I don't think I did a very good job at explaining
to her off the cuff.
Sometimes I can wing it, but not this time.
She's pretty good at the questions these days.
Every once in a while I have to tell her that her Mom should explain things to her.

The beauty of it all.
PAUSE

Sipping on a cold LIPTON
Diet
GREEN TEA
CITRUS

Not too bad.
When they are chilled and a quick grab out of the ice box
I really can quinch my thirst
on a hot
hot
day.

PAUSE

As the week-end draws near, my dear sweet Husband and I will be bringing MORE vinyl storage boxes out of the cellar to deal with.

It seems to take so much longer for me to accomplish these task.
I sometimes wish I could just BLINK and it be done.

Too much wishful thinking on my part.

I asked him last night if we were about half done on the tubs???
Yes, but there are old paint cans that will need to be taken to the special location in town to get rid of in a proper way, some old lumber, and much of this and that.

Using
J.R. WATKINS All Purpose Cleaner
UNIVERSEL AGENT NETTOYANT
White Tea and Bamboo
which is Ammonia Free, Bleach Free, Dye Free, Phosphate Free, Non-Toxic
to clean the vinyl tubs.

I'm having a heyday with this cleaner.
ANOTHER satisfied customer.
In other words I REALLY LIKE IT.

PAUSE

We decided that after we clear out the cellar
that we will return to the ceiling in the Bedroom.
I need a crew of people like my HUBby.  Mercy sakes alive....we'd make such headway.

I do know that I have had an epiphany of sorts ABOUT clutter and what it really does to ones soul.  Yes, there's such a thing as organized clutter, but I no longer want the mess about my feet dodging boxes with a full body shift when going from one room to another.  I continue to study up on organizing and doing things differently than I have.

I have had to ask myself, "HOW DID I GET SO FAR BEHIND???"  Hubby gently reminds me that I had cancer, he got bit by a bat, he got cancer, daughter came home with a baby after her marriage fell apart, our son had a nervous breakdown when going through a divorce, and the list goes on.....oh.

It has been a mental work-out for me going through all the things that need attention.  My mental muscles are like a body builder's pump you up body.

Reminding myself that I will be successful and victorious in this endeavor because the LORD IS WITH ME.  I asked HIM to help me with this task and have dedicated it to HIS GLORY.  When we arrive at the finish line, I know that it will be a glorious day and a half.

PAUSE

I think of the days to come when the temperatures return to the 70s.  It will be warmly received!  A little play on words there.

PAUSE

I had some GOOD NEWS today as the Nurse told me my TSH numbers were where the doctor wanted them.

HYROID
S TIMULATING
ORMONES.

They are at a good place for me and I couldn't be happier.
So to get my numbers at a HAPPY PLACE,
it took 4 and a half months after switching meds.  It was a rough 4 and a half months for me as a person without a thyroid!
Praising GOD that I am at a HAPPY PLACE now.
I've had a slight weight loss from switching meds.
I'm 15 pounds lighter and counting.  I wouldn't mind staying on the reduction side of things until I am at my high school weight.....if this be possible.

Main thing is to be HEALTHY!

PAUSE

I raved about Palmolive CLASSIC Pink Dish Detergent...just for grins I picked up a sample size of Palmolive Almond Milk and Blueberry Soft Touch and I LOVE it just as much as the delightful PINK.
I must be in a lavender phase....still this detergent surprised me by this ~NEW~  fragrance.

OH SO LOVELY!
So once again I am VERY VERY pleased with this Product.

PAUSE

Bouncing Around::  I so hope we will install decorative curtain rods this week-end so I can show off the discounted curtain panels I bought to beautify our HOME.  It's been a very long and drawn out adventure concerning the Family room walls that had ancient wallpaper on them.  Slowly we got all the layers off the walls and stayed with WHITE.  I have antique looking embossed wallpaper that can be painted stashed in their boxes.  STILL contemplating hanging and then painting.

PAUSE

Recently we switched the FAMILY room into a Dining room AND the FORMAL PARLOUR became a casual Living room.  As time passes, we hope to turn one of the upstairs bedrooms into my FORMAL Sitting Room and turn it into a quiet place to think, pray and dream.  Eventually my dolls will fill this room and a DREAM WILL COME TRUE.

BUT FIRST.......we have to de-clutter in a really BIG WAY.
The Master Bedroom will be completed.
Back to creating a sweet KITCHEN.
Then a larger Bathroom will take shape.
A REST will be in order.
Some touch up paint in various places.

It helps me to see this in type.

So Sweet

Soooooooo SWEET!

I saw this the other day and admired the sweetness of this little house and wanted to keep it in mind of what I wouldn't mind having in my backyard.  Just large enough to go sit inside on a comfy overstuffed chair with a side table beside the chair with some air blowing on me as I sit and pray, write a book or study.

Why I could even sip some coffee or iced tea.
~tadaaaaa~
A wonderful little get away!

Too sweet to ignore,

Aunt Bee Would Be So Pleased With Me

I just got back from checking the fridge to see if there were any cream cheese packages aging to perfection in the bottom of the fridge so I could prepare this Apple Pie!  Please understand that sometimes I leave items in the fridge for so long that they begin to grow stuff on the ingredients that could be mistaken for penicillin.

My personal lab is my kitchen refrigerator.
You might catch me wearing a white lab coat while holding my breath as I empty the contents in the trash
or making a odd expression that this task isn't pleasant.

All kidding aside...some things in my fridge get overlooked when I don't tidy the inside every week.
It sometimes surprises me that it can get really gross.

I seem to get the inside of the fridge cleaned out on a regular basis without having to be told to do so.
I'm pleased about this because there are days I don't want to be a neat freak and clean.
It's like breathing fresh air to have a clean fridge.

Simple enuff AUNT BEE's APPLE PIE
sounds like a winner.
Will try.

LIFE IS SHORT.
EAT THE PIE.

Blessings to you this SUMMER and every day,
d

I'll Not Complain

Just finished a TV Dinner to fill my belly for Lunch.
As we are remodeling, painting, downsizing, etc ON THE PRAIRIE,
TV Dinners are being served without the television.

Remembering the day when they were a very nice size meal
served in a aluminum tray baked in a hot oven.
Our dinner is in plastic tray nuked in the micro-wave.

Many say that the plastic is dangerous to use.....i know....i know.
So are the salts and oils.
More nutritious foods for other meals.
Our energy levels are low which takes all we've got
to do what we're doing.

The outside temps are a bear and I can hardly be in it.
This old Lady needs a FAN and cooler atmosphere.

I'll NOT complain about having another TV DINNER.
I will complain about the HEAT.

Sorry.

This week I have plans to PAINT our Master Bedroom walls.
Need to do some prep work first.  SHALL SEE just how far I get.
The ceiling now looks like civilized people live here
with a nice clean ceiling to look at while lying on our backs in our comfy bed.

Ahhhhhh.
Let the air conditioning begin.
God bless,
d

Just Like I Remember

Hello Beloved,

I love days like today.
Temps in the 70's.
Felt like I was on a Colorado vacation as I was out and about
running errands under a grey, cool sky.
My Folks usually took us kids on vacation in Colorado
for two weeks each Summer.

I remember hearing my Mom tell my Dad
that she'd love to live in Colorado.
Dad asked her what they would do for a living?
Mom said so matter of fact like,
"We'd work and live here.  I'd get a job and you'd get a job."

This never happened as we stayed in Kansas continuing to vacation two weeks out of the Summer until I was grown and married.

I believe that I should have insisted that my new Husband and I take two weeks out of the Summer to vacation as we grew into a married couple with young children that had different ideas
about what a vacation was and is.

Dad loved to fish and camp under the starlit sky.
Mom made the best hot chocolate and white mac 'n cheese
over a open fire.
Burnt marshmallows always.
Ooey gooey stick to your fingers.

The first time I ate white cheese mac 'n cheese was by a camp fire under the stars was in Colorado while camping.  I was use to yellow mac 'n cheese, never white.  It tasted just as great as most KIDS love this stuff.

Dad taught us the importance of properly putting a campfire out before journeying on to other places.  Smokey the Bear was our HERO and so was Dad....and Mom.  Mom my hero.

Back to feeling like I was in Colorado today...I sat in my car parked under a shade tree, waiting for Lil Miss to finish up her activity this morning.  Just the right spot to pluck chin hairs.  Across the street from a local Bank.  I'm sure the Bank Clerk was thrilled to see an old woman parked in her car plucking facial hair.  What a view to see from her work window.  Lovely I'm sure.

This extra facial hair is the pits.  Suppose I have to complain about something.  Life seemed so much simpler as a kid that went camping for two weeks in Colorado.  We lived out of a tent and the back of our car learning how to rough it.  Seemed like all fun and games back then.

Fresh air and mountains.  The roads weren't always the best getting to these camp sites.  Many stories about the rocky roads and looking down the side of a mountain.  Bears and pine cone cities made by yours truly.

Smiles,
d

Product Review

AS HUBBY AND I GO THROUGH MY STASH
OF VINYL STORAGE BOXES FULL OF GLASSWARE AND DISHES
I am washing dishes by hand and deciding which pieces to keep for a while longer or get rid of.
I have become a dish washing FOOL.
Dish Detergent of choice is this little PINK number you see here on the screen.

~PALMOLIVE CLASSIC~
Just like the label says, it's gentle and caring.
Well, I'm not sure how caring it can really be,
but this sounds good, doesn't it?
GENTLE it seems to be.

I have found that I LIKE THIS PRODUCT TO HAND WASH DISHES.
OOOOOohhhh so many dishes I forgot I had.
I came across an old Berry Bowl Set.
Remember those?  Not sure who uses Berry Bowls anymore,
but I had wanted a set for a time
and forgot I had a set.
Oops....that can't be good.

I will hand wash this jewel and gently place her in a safe place
NOT BACK IN THE CELLAR.
Maybe in my China Cabinet that overflows with Blue Willow Dishes.

::BACK TO THE PRODUCT::
The fragrance is lovely and the creaminess of the soap is pleasant
to the touch.  Washing dishes by hand has been happening around here since 2005 when we sold our house in Manhattan, KS with fully equipped Kitchen and moved to a FARM HOUSE that did not have a dishwasher.

I scratch my head in disbelief that it has been 11 years since I ran my Kitchen ROBOT called an electric dishwasher.  11 YEARS.  11 years.  Say that a little slower...Did I say 11 years?
That is just hard for me to believe.

A dishwasher awaits me after Hubby installs it in the new Kitchen in the very near future, but for now
I AM THE DISHWASHER and it wouldn't be fair to leave my Husband out of this formula for he does dishes all the time.  AND a very handsome dishwasher he is!
He gets an A plus on his REPORT CARD
and so does PALMOLIVE CLASSIC.

FINAL WORD on this PRODUCT REVIEW......I LOVE THIS PRODUCT and will not complain that it is PINK since I like the color PINK.

Down sizing is made somewhat easier when the dish detergent you have to use to clean up what is going bye bye smells so nice.

I came across this product just by accident
and it has been a HAPPY ACCIDENT!

I am not getting PAID to promote this detergent.
I wouldn't mind getting PAID.  grins.

I am praising the LORD that it's the week-end!

BLESSINGS TO YOU.

The HAPPY HOUSEWIFE,

CHAPTERS IN BIBLE

*Shortest Chapter  In The Bible
Psalm 117

*Center Of The Bible
Psalm 118

*Longest Chapter In The Bible
Psalm 119

What is the center verse of BIBLE?
Psalm 118:8

FACT:: 594 Chapters BEFORE Psalm 118.
There are 594 Chapters AFTER Psalm 118.
Add 594 + 594 = 1188

Psalm 118:8 King James Version (KJV)

It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.

A few months ago I was thinking about this info and couldn't remember where I got it.
I remember jotting it down and then like clockwork misplaced it.

As I was going through one of our HUGE cardboard boxes filled with papers
that I would deal with LATER (famous last words)....there was my handwritten NOTES about the shortest,
center and longest books of the BIBLE.

I'll have to research this and see if it's accurate.
If you know otherwise,
please let me know so I can stay accurate.

Thank you and GOD BLESS,

THEN THERE's wikipedia!

Pop Pop Pop

Hello from my place to yours.

Hubby and I have been working on our old stone house during the HOLIDAY.

As I sit here typing, FIRECRACKERS are poppin' and the dark is settling in.  We'll miss the 4th of July GALA over in the next community known to be one of the best in the STATE OF KANSAS
for small town AMERICA.

RED, WHITE AND BLUE all the way.

I just about can't wait to show you the changes
that we have made.  De-cluttering has won out
and I am becoming a different sort of HOMEBODY.

I'm breaking out of this old mold and HATCHING
a new way of decorating.

Gotta run and wash my hair.

DECORATING

I knew a very frugal Lady named Edith that shared with me a excellent guideline for decorating. She said with ease, "If your room has clean ceilings, floors, and walls, and the windows have nice curtains, you'll have an attractive room."

Marvel not that I said unto thee,

Ye must be born again.

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS
SELECTING THE CORRECT SIZE CHANDY TO USE IN A ROOM MADE EASY. FORMULA MEASUREMENTS: Measure the room's height and width. Add together the numbers. Example: 8' x 10' room is 8 plus 10= 18" Use a 18" wide chandy. OR Take width of room calculating 2" for every foot. Example: 15' wide room. Take 15 times 2 = 30. Room needs 30" wide chandy. Standard distance between the bottom of the chandelier to the top of the table is 30 inches. When hanging the chandelier, make sure to hang it at the proper height. The bottom of a chandelier over a dining table or kitchen island should hang 30 to 32 inches above the top of the table or island. Most rooms call for at least 7 feet of space between the bottom of the chandelier and the floor.

WISHES

NO MATTER HOW BADLY YOU WISH with all your might that the something devastating that happened in your life hadn't happened and want so badly to go back in time to prevent it from happening...it isn't humanly possible to do this. You can't change the fact that it happened. IT DID. But JESUS can change the MEANING of what happened to you and give you PEACE. He can show you the way in which you are to go. God richly BLESS you. ~Deanna
