Howdy from the Prairie!
As I type I'm sitting in my red and black plaid housecoat
with the window wide open
to where I can hear the bird's chirping
with the humming of the neighbor's lawn mower grooming his lawn.
Thinking about my mother's day I was blessed with.
Lil Miss isn't up yet and I'm sipping Folgers Coffee.
The best part of waking up is Folgers in your cup.......on somedays I would agree.
The past couple of weeks has been something else.
The Spring Weather has been about as perfect as can be
with mild temps in the low 70's,
blue skies and sunshine.
Breathing it all in and thinking this is our SPRING
before the heat wave strikes Kansas.
Watched a great 2000 family movie
"My Dog Skip" starring Frankie Muniz, Kevin Bacon, Diane Lane and of course the Jack Russell Terrior, Enzo.
Set
in the 1940's and based on autobiographical book by Willie Morris, 9
year old Willie grows up in Yazoo, Mississippi as the son of a Spanish
Civil War Veteran Jack and Homemaker Ellen.
Willie's adventures with Skip ends as Willie leaves for Oxford University
with Skip remaining behind with Willie's Parents.
Skip dies and is buried under the elm tree.
Closing line narrated by grown up Willie,
"That wasn't totally true. For he really laid buried in my heart."
I liked this film and would watch again.
The costuming and interior decorating are true to the era.
Coming through our Prairie Town was
Union Pacific 844 Steam Engine.
Ticket Agent and Conductor, Wayne Hansen was kind enough to allow a picture with Lil Miss.
He looked well defined in his uniform and I knew he was a somebody with the clothing he was wearing. He stood out.
Made for an interesting Day!
Onto buying a well deserved and needed new Spring handbag from Florence Adams in a 1882 Historical Building in Saint Marys, Kansas. Came away a HaPpY Shopper.
Shopping at Florence Adams is a delight. Something else for there to
be such a stylish store in this part of the world on the prairie.
Saturday: Shoppers Gone Wild at Wamego's City Wide Garage Sale. Bought some OLD dishes.
Sunday: A day of rest. Hubby's Uncle Willie died in his sleep. Shopped in Topeka.
Monday: Union Pacific 844 stops on the Prairie. Back to Topeka.
Tuesday:
Wamego Library visit, Manhattan Lunch with Hubby and I took a tumble at
the KSU Gardens. Grass stained my best pair of blue jeans. Tuesday
night trip to Saint Marys, Kansas. Bought a fancy coffee, a new handbag
and had a great time with Daughter and Grand.
Wednesday: Wore a denim skirt and felt like a LADY.
Health Assessment and sprained my ankle shopping.
Sound accident prone.
Topeka Time with Hubby. Bought some apples.
Thursday: Wore my denim skirt again and felt like a Lady.
Up to my neck in Paperwork.
Friday: Getting rested up for the week-end.
On Laundry Duty. Date with Hubby.
Saturday: Checking out an Auction.
Sunday: HAPPY MOTHER's DAY!
another week happened....time flies.
Will post about later.

Nothing like it.
After
a busy week out and about, I like being in slow-mo on Friday mornings.
Sippin Coffee and Bloggin' Time helps to refresh me and gain strength
for the week-end.
