Over taken by the size of the room and becoming tired with a sore back, I barely noticed the painting on the ceiling until the docent pointed it out to share the story behind the lady posing on the ceiling.

Mrs. Vaile, please cover up.
I wasn't able to find much out about Sophia other than she was Mrs. Vaile which died from an overdose of morphine while her Husband was away taking care of court issues in Washington D.C. She had stomach cancer and was extremely ill before the overdose.
Nothing about her upbringing or how she became Mrs. Vaile.
Not sure why she is such a secret.

From what I understand,
when the word got out that there was a painting on the ceiling
of a half dressed woman...it was terrible. Mrs. Vaile supposedly was shunned by others and not well liked.
If this is true, what can I say?
She was extremely wealthy and well taken care of
in her mansion on 55 acres.
Room to walk about and not be disturbed.
Multiple rooms to live in.
Money to burn.
Was she lonely?
Was she bored?
Was she happy?
