DAY ONE OF MY WATER FAST WAS A SUCCESS. DIFFICULT TO STAY ON TRACK, but I did. Habit would have had me munching on buttered bread late at night even when not hungry.
Smelling the food my chef husband fixed for supper for himself about broke me. Had to talk to myself to avoid eating. Sipped on water. Gulp. I did drink a PROPEL to get some electrolytes. Rethinking that my stomach was full and I wasn't really hungry.
Not sure I can do a day two of just drinking water. Tis really hard not to eat. If I can do day two, it will be something else. I'm going to try though. I don't know how anyone could go for 40 days without eating. Seems unreal to me. I can think about it, but until doing such a thing, I'm not sure how on earth it is possible.
I have a friend in Houston who did a 40 day fast for religious reasons. I take my hat off to her as the saying goes.
I had been thinking about doing a water fast for a while. Read about it and watched some videos. The latest is by Amanda Rose, MD. eatlikeabear.com
She did a water fast for 16 days then ate green soup and created huge salads for a one a day meal for a year. She has videos available that can be watched. Her salads are huge and simple. Something I will imitate. I know I don't want to go for 16 days just drinking water, but I believe I can eat large salads. She lost 140 pounds over a year's time. 140 pounds. Sounds like so much weight, doesn't it.
Maintaining the weight loss is a different matter.
Losing it is one thing, maintaining it is another. Do we give up before we even try? Perhaps I have at times just thought about serious dieting then gave up. Just too hard? The temptation of eating sweets and over eating food became too attractive and won the battle over eating clean.
Choosing our HARDs has a part in this journey to health. It can be HARD to diet and it can be HARD being sick, so choose your HARD. I have before said eating organic is too expensive. I think this is a lying spirit. How many of us find the money to buy television cable or channels? We're willing. How many of us find the money to run marathons and tour mansions? Etc. Priorities determine what the money will be spent on. There are ways to cut expenses. When you compare holding a grocery bag of vegetables and a bag of highly processed foods, you spend more on the processed foods verses the veggies. The veggies are far more healthier for you than the processed foods. Medicines are not always inexpensive are they and if you're sick than medicines seem to come into the picture.
If there is something you really want, it may require a great deal from you. Being PRO-ACTIVE takes effort. I have to talk to myself a great deal. Being a cheer leader is required on this end.
After a week of Amanda's water fast, she received a Meyers Cocktail. I had to look this one up. A IV with vitamins. I'll do some more reading about this one. I'd have to go to Kansas City for one if I did this. The expense of it would be a heavy luxury item. I can see where the vitamins would help with health issues and with the loss of electrolytes during the fast in which one could get very run down.
WATER FAST. Day TWO. On the menu: Spring water and a Propel.
As for health, I had a nasal swab done in May. I'd been coughing for nearly three months and had excessive mucus. Visited the Urgent Care in which I now know I was prescribed a antibiotic that did not help. Then I went to our regular doctors seeing a Physicians Assistant.
I asked about a sputum test being beneficial in which the Physician Assistant mentioned the nasal swap getting the results quicker. So we did this. I had to contact them after 5 days to ask about the results. Nurse called me to inform me of the results and a prescription would be phoned in to combat this infection. She said I had staph. She did not mention the MRSA or Epstein-Barr virus nor did the nurse who mentioned the results in the health portal. Returning to see my regular doc, was when he mentioned MRSA.
Bells and whistles went off. Got my attention. Still even he did not mention the Epstein-Barr Virus.
Later, I asked for a paper copy of the results which I could read for myself receiving it on Tuesday. After reading my molecular report from TEN Healthcare, I saw for myself that Epstein-Barr virus was mentioned. I will be asking for copies of my tests from now on as it seems that the medical staff does not volunteer as much info as I would like.
I sometimes wonder what Jesus ate while he walked the earth in human form. I'm sure he was not overweight as many of us are. Fish, olives, tomatoes, unleavened bread. It would be beneficial to know.
Plans for the day. Resting again. Paperwork. Laundry.
