WHAT SHALL I DO TO MAKE A BETTER CLOSET?

THURSDAY IS JUST ABOUT OVER AS FRIDAY AWAITS ME.  Busy day at HOME.  I stayed HOME all day long with no plans to leave my comfort zone.  Worked on the Master Closet organizing it, thinning out more clothing, I made progress.  We'll put another shelf in the closet so we can place more baskets in the space that's been created.

As of today, we now have some space for sweaters, sweats and shoes when last week we didn't. This temporary fix for the closet will have to do.  Reaching this goal of making as much room as we can to accommodate our clothing has taken a while to get to.  I have had to downsize our clothing when moving from the big house into our COTTAGE.  It's been challenging to do so.

Later the closet will be made over, but for now I have to make it as functioning as possible. Downsizing our clothing and placing items as best I can has been a phase that couldn't be ignored.

The t-shirts have been thinned, folded and placed in vinyl baskets.  I need one more basket for them.  Between the two of us, we have many t-shirts.  The sweaters and sweat shirts are going in tomorrow on a shelf.  I'm still switching out hangers and need to get some more gray velvet ones from TARGET.  Next time I go, I'll be looking for more hangers along with plastic covers for dress clothing.  The sooner the closet is spruced up, the better.

As I place clothing on new hangers, I am color grouping the clothing.  The updating of the structure of the closet will come later.  Not sure when, but at least the clothing will be organized and easier to get to.

We watched a couple of very old black and white movies from the 1930s where their homes were so neat and organized that I swooned over the beautiful arrangements with order.  I know it was just movies, but they are an example of how neat a place could be.

I was day dreaming about how to decorate our COTTAGE.  I need to get the closet organized before organizing the food pantry.  The next big project will be the front Bedroom.  Making it into an actual Bedroom again instead of a storage room will take some doing.  Seeing a finished Bedroom in my head entertains me and keeps me going.  I want so badly to be excited about making this happen that I need a miracle of sorts to get me going.  Stop dragging my feet.

Lord, making our place into a comfortable HOME is necessary.  Please help me make this come to fruition.

FLUTTERING ABOUT THE HOUSE working.  The miniature trees that sat on the kitchen window ledge have been placed in a storage box to go down into the cellar.  Laundry.  Sanitizing the kitchen counter tops reminds me that I need to polish the front of the fridge.  Organizing some drawers in the buffet to make a place for CHRISTMAS ornaments I recently purchased. Switching clothing hangers and putting away clean clothing.  Researching health issues on the computer.  Reading.  Writing out menus for future meals.  Counting calories.  All in a days work.

My Doctor's Nurse called to tell me that my Doctor wants me to come into clinic to visit about my LABS.  So off I will go to hear what he suggests that I do about vitamin deficiencies.  After the appointment, I'll go shopping and enjoy getting out before the weather turns off bad again.  More snow and ice expected next week.  Brrrr.  Here it comes.

DANCING BECAUSE THE LAUNDRY IS ALMOST DONE and ORGANIZING THE MAIN CLOSET!!!

HOW EXCITING IS LAUNDRY TO THE AVERAGE PEEP?  I'd guess not very, BUT when one has been so preoccupied with sicknesses, surgeries and recoveries over the past year, getting caught up with this necessary task of empty laundry baskets gets exciting to oui!  SO I am excited to be finishing up!  It's been quite a year.

Plans to finish up ALL THE LAUNDRY today and do a dance about the house.  I have one large laundry basket of towels to fold then put away.  I need to wash one more small load of towels and a couple of house coats AND I WILL BE DONE!!!!!  πŸ’ƒπŸ•Ί  PTL. I feel a dance coming on.

I've been working on our main clothes closet.  I continue working on the pile of folded clothing that is sitting on the table.  All folded and needing put away.  It's TEE-SHIRTVILLE on the table. I grouped all the plain colored tees for work shirts and all the other with designs on the fronts of them in a different pile.  Two piles for HUBBY and two for me.  Getting as organized as I can. grins.

The plain colored tees have found a new home for themselves in the bottom drawer of the wash machine pedestal.  It is now full.  No need for buying any WORK SHIRTS as we have these TEES just waiting to be used.  Whahlah...tis done.

I'm using vinyl storage bins for the tees that are being stored in the closet.  Hallelujah and a half. Making progress.  They are in place.

I have hanging shirts and blouses to place in the closet yet, but first I will thin out the shirts/blouses that will be donated to thrift.

I'm debating on the type of hangers for Hubby's dress clothes to use as I move forward.  Our dress clothing are on a different rod in the closet.  I believe I ought to get some wood hangers for my Husband's dress jackets and then cover the article with special vinyl covers that goes on the top part of the article across the shoulders.  Or maybe I should get some canvas ones to keep the dust from settling on the shoulders.  This will be something I can work on as I get the closet more organized.

I have multi-hangers for everyday clothing where there are five hangers on one main hanger. These are great for storing off season clothing, but more difficult to replace clean articles on. Debating if I should clear these out except keep some for off season jackets that would go in a different closet.  I have some childhood dresses of my daughter's and grand's that I am saving on a few of these five tier hangers.

I tried to get better organized a few years ago where I placed all my green blouses on one hanger, all the red on one, all the black on one, etc.  Like I said they are cumbersome to replace clean blouses and shirts back on after being worn.  I think I should think about it before getting rid of them.

If I return to using one hanger per item then I'll need to thin out more articles.  The overall project of having a very organized closet will be ongoing as I have to wait until we rebuild the closet and I'm not sure when this will happen.  The main thing is to get rid of all the clothing that I really am not fond of that are taking up space that's needed for clothing I like.

MORE THINKING TO DO ABOUT THIS,
but I don't want to take too long as time gets away.

GETTING READY TO GO FOR MILE WALK with the temps in the high 60s! Yesterday, I walked my mile in such weather.  It was wonderful so I am getting ready to repeat the journey.  When I returned HOME, I was red in the face, but felt great about having walked. SPRING LIKE WEATHER is a boost that lifts my spirit.  I went a different route than I have ever been on since my walking journey began in 2024.

I drank bone broth for a late lunch suffering through two cups of it.  CRUNCHY celery sticks were delicious as a snack.  I couldn't stomach more bone broth for supper as I had planned so I had cheese and crackers with some bing cherries and drank milk.  Today, I skipped breakfast and feasted on a biscuit, strawberry yoghurt and water for lunch  Evening meal will be a huge salad for sure with water.

Taking it really easy this SUNDAY.  Very easy.  Doing a few chores and resting.  Watching the clock tick.

I took Hubby to the docs again on Friday for a sinus infection which means he's taking an antibiotic.  Perking up quickly.  This week to come hopefully there will be NO MEDICAL appointments.  Plez.

We really need to take care of ourselves.
Yes and amen,

DECORATING

I knew a very frugal Lady named Edith that shared with me a excellent guideline for decorating. She said with ease, "If your room has clean ceilings, floors, and walls, and the windows have nice curtains, you'll have an attractive room."

John 3:7

“Marvel not that I said unto thee,

Ye must be born again.”

King James Version (KJV)

PSALM 118:17

I shall not die,
but live, and declare
the works of the Lord.

PROVERBS 24:3-4

By wisdom
a house is built,
and through understanding

it is established;
through
knowledge

its rooms are filled with rare

and beautiful treasures.

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS
SELECTING THE CORRECT SIZE CHANDY TO USE IN A ROOM MADE EASY. FORMULA MEASUREMENTS: Measure the room's height and width. Add together the numbers. Example: 8' x 10' room is 8 plus 10= 18" Use a 18" wide chandy. OR Take width of room calculating 2" for every foot. Example: 15' wide room. Take 15 times 2 = 30. Room needs 30" wide chandy. Standard distance between the bottom of the chandelier to the top of the table is 30 inches. When hanging the chandelier, make sure to hang it at the proper height. The bottom of a chandelier over a dining table or kitchen island should hang 30 to 32 inches above the top of the table or island. Most rooms call for at least 7 feet of space between the bottom of the chandelier and the floor.

WISHES

NO MATTER HOW BADLY YOU WISH with all your might that the something devastating that happened in your life hadn't happened and want so badly to go back in time to prevent it from happening...it isn't humanly possible to do this. You can't change the fact that it happened. IT DID. But JESUS can change the MEANING of what happened to you and give you PEACE. He can show you the way in which you are to go. God richly BLESS you. ~Deanna
