Autumn Is In The House!

I confess...I am a list maker and look forward to reaching some short term goals.
Satisfaction buzzes in my soul as I accomplish crossing off what has been completed.
Seasonal Decorating causes me to smile and enjoy my Home all the more.

A few years ago I bought two wire baskets at a Thrift Store.
They stayed hidden away last year.
I was determined to display them in my home this year
and will take them to the Helmer Thanksgiving Dinner to add some Spirit.

A Pumpkin in a metal dish.
Simply stated.

Here it is the month of NOVEMBER.
An opportunity to think about Thankfulness.

There will be 24 days until Thanksgiving.
I'd like to keep my post simple during this month with each day focusing on something I'm THANKFUL for.

God bless and may you have a wonderful November.
Thankful for you as a Blogging Friend,
~Deanna~

Autumn Is Here!

Autumn is here and with each passing day I learn more about the Loveliness of God.  When I focus on HIM, He blesses me.  With HIS goodness and mercies I become more aware of HIM.

When I sit quietly and read HIS printed word, I am nourished with His Holy WORD that refreshes me and WASHES my mind.

May you have a most Bless AUTUMN!!!
God richly Bless you today,
~Deanna~

Titus 3: 4,5,6,7
4) But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
5) Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.
6) Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our SAVIOUR;
7) That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son (JESUS) that whosoever believeth in him (JESUS) shall not perish, but have everlasting life.

Father God, You know who needs a special touch from you.  In Jesus name I pray that they turn to you and be healed.  That they have your peace and abundance.  That they know you have a plan for their lives that's good and not evil.  That they personally know you and are filled with your Holy Spirit to live the way you desire.  Hear my prayer.

In Jesus NAME I pray,
Amen.

Frankenstein

Is that Simon Cowell?

Do you suppose we should be scared?

Years ago Hubby fixed a Frankenstein Head to display
for Trick-or-Treat.

Upon one of our moves,
Frankenstein was left up in the attic of the house we sold
and we never saw him again.

I asked Hubby if he'd make another one.
He's working on him and hopes to have him all put together by Halloween.

Frankie will stand TALL on the porch.
~Deanna~

PS
Plez don't tell Simon that some ole Lady in Kansas thinks he resembles Home Haven's Frankenstein.
That would be ghoulish.

Home Happenings

A few pumpkins have found their way
onto the Porch of Home Haven.

AUTUMN has fallen on Home Haven with cooler temperatures.  Emotionally, I am not ready for the cold.

I  s h i v e r just thinking about it.  A bad case of burrrrrrdom.

The Winter coats have not made their way out of the closet and the radiators have not been turned on yet....but the electric heaters are on some of the time.  It rained and the wind blew.  I just need to sit still and stare out the window for a while and relax about LIFE.  God is in control and I surrender all.

ladies home journal

Looking a bit like this lovely Homemaker from the past as I rehung the Parlour window panels after washing them!

Well almost....I didn't wear those good-looking high heels and frilly apron.  I was barefooted and in blue jeans.  I would have fallen in the heels and broke my neck or bruised my bod.

Anyways....the Parlour has freshly washed windows and panels now.  This room has been deep cleaned in preparation for the Holidays.  How many days till Thanksgiving and Christmas?????   Hide my head in the sand.

(Praise the Lord...she's done.  Now to wipe down the radiators through-out the house.  Already thinking ahead to decorating the front porch in November hopefully before the snow blows.)

A goal accomplished.  This feels great.

As I've cleaned the Parlour Windows,
A sense of accomplishment comes as I open the windows and clean them inside and out.

Decorating On The Prairie: Treadle Sewing Machine

Decorating On The Prairie this week visits old fashion sewing machines without the use of electricity.
Sheer (wo)man-power pedals creations to be.

Hello Beloved.
Welcome to Home Haven.
After we did a major furniture shuffle,
my old sewing machine found a new place to sit in the Family room.

Love having her there.
Wallpapering to take place soooooon!

(Sorry the pics are a bit dark.  Not the sewing machines fault.)

One day I will sit and sew on the machine.
One day.

I am the proud owner of this treadle sewing machine.  She needs some work done on her so she will properly sew.  I am glad to have her in my Home!  I use to play on one of these machines when I was a young girl.  We'd go to visit one of my Momma's friends that sewed on one and she'd let us kids play on it while the Mommas chatted.  I have fond memories of this and wanted a machine like this of my own.  God saw fit that I came across one at a fantastic price.  We managed to bring her to HOME HAVEN and after months of her sitting in the Dining Room she made her way to the Family Room where natural lighting shines in.  I dream of the time I can set there and stitch SOMETHING without electricity.  PERSONAL GOAL.  Time will tell just when I get this task completed.

I have seen others that have used sewing cabinets as a night stand, plant stand or used as a accent piece in their lovely homes.  Museums display them.......but I wanted mine to be beautiful in use and beautiful in rest.

When you are ready to sew, the wooden lid opens up and lies flat for a work station as the sewing machine head gracefully raises into place ready to be used at your command.
Nice way to store appliances.
No noise pollution as you sew away.
Plus you exercise as you creatively sew.

So glad you stopped by.
God bless you,
~Deanna~

Perhaps some day I'll have something as pretty as this quilt
as a project on my sewing machine.
Nice thought.

1 Thessalonians 4:11 and 12 (NIV translation)
11) Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your own hands, just as we told you,
12) so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.

On Monday, this post will be published and hosted on another sight as part of THE CHRISTIAN HOME magazine in the DESIGN and DECORATE section.  Lots of good info to share.

Dream

Sweet Hubby let me sleep in Saturday morning.  I was refreshed by a dream that I could recall.  Sometimes I cannot remember my dreams, but Saturday I could.  I laid in bed thinking about it and I started to think about being a child of the most high God.

My dream was about me doing my best to tell another woman about Christ.  It seemed that each statement I spoke out loud to her was getting interrupted by other distractions.  Someone would say something or a noise would distract from what I was saying.  I persevered and would continue to speak to this woman.

At one point she mentioned that there was water on the floor coming toward me and I should climb up on the table she was on.  I did.

After I struggled to tell her about the LORD, I asked her if she'd like to accept Christ and she said yes.  I did my best to recite the SINNER'S PRAYER.  She accepted Christ.

After I got around in real Life, I thought perhaps the dream represented that I get side tracked due to  interruptions that distract me from what I'm suppose to be doing.  It's been way to easy for me to get distracted.

Dear LORD,
I am here.

Feels Like Winter

SWEET AUTUMN BLESSINGS TO YOU!  Glad you've popped in to visit with me this lovely day.  Your friendship warms my soul.

This illustration looks more like Winter than Autumn, but Thursday our temps dropped to 26 Degrees and I about froze.  Had a electric heater on my feet for the day. Needed the extra warmth.  Friday it is suppose to warm up to the 70s!!!

With the week-end here, I'm looking forward to our Kansas Temperatures warming up before the next dip.

Better spend some time outdoors soaking up some sun. Hubby will be flying HOME tonight from a Training Session in Denver.  Yesterday I was freezing and he was sunning while eating Lunch!

Purposing in my heart to slow down and breathe in today's air.  It's so easy for me to get all worked up over what needs to be done.  If you're like me....you've got to think about not getting wound up.

In the afternoons...if I can...I will take a 4 o'clock BREAK and UNWIND for the Day so the Evening is more relaxing and I'm refreshed for the rest of the day.  I will freshen up a tad before my Husband arrives HOME from work.  A splash of his favorite perfume, my hair combed and a little lipstick for him to kiss off.

Hope your WEEK-END is wonderful!
Better go fix some SnowBall Soup,
~Deanna~

Sweet LORD, May I sing your PRAISES.

PSALM 40:8
I desire to do your will, my God;
Your law is within my heart.

MATTHEW 6:34
Take therefore no thought (worry) for the morrow:
for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.  Sufficient until the day is the evil thereof.

DECORATING

I knew a very frugal Lady named Edith that shared with me a excellent guideline for decorating. She said with ease, "If your room has clean ceilings, floors, and walls, and the windows have nice curtains, you'll have an attractive room."

John 3:7

Marvel not that I said unto thee,

Ye must be born again.

King James Version (KJV)

PSALM 118:17

I shall not die,
but live, and declare
the works of the Lord.

PROVERBS 24:3-4

By wisdom
a house is built,
and through understanding

it is established;
through
knowledge

its rooms are filled with rare

and beautiful treasures.

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS
SELECTING THE CORRECT SIZE CHANDY TO USE IN A ROOM MADE EASY. FORMULA MEASUREMENTS: Measure the room's height and width. Add together the numbers. Example: 8' x 10' room is 8 plus 10= 18" Use a 18" wide chandy. OR Take width of room calculating 2" for every foot. Example: 15' wide room. Take 15 times 2 = 30. Room needs 30" wide chandy. Standard distance between the bottom of the chandelier to the top of the table is 30 inches. When hanging the chandelier, make sure to hang it at the proper height. The bottom of a chandelier over a dining table or kitchen island should hang 30 to 32 inches above the top of the table or island. Most rooms call for at least 7 feet of space between the bottom of the chandelier and the floor.

WISHES

NO MATTER HOW BADLY YOU WISH with all your might that the something devastating that happened in your life hadn't happened and want so badly to go back in time to prevent it from happening...it isn't humanly possible to do this. You can't change the fact that it happened. IT DID. But JESUS can change the MEANING of what happened to you and give you PEACE. He can show you the way in which you are to go. God richly BLESS you. ~Deanna
