I AM OLD. ELDERLY ACTUALLY. 67. Ancient. 67 isn't the new 47. As God informs us, know the number of your days. Thinking that you are so much younger than you actually are will definitely play on your reality that you have so much more time to get things done than what you have. It's not a BAD THING to come to terms with your reality that you are old and things have to be done differently. On a different journey.
Pacing myself. I don't completely hide my head in the sand about the present day economy, the world theatre, current events. Having some knowledge about the changing world is a useful tool in staying on top of some of the challenges that come along with aging. I don't know EVERYTHING, but I know somethings. Imagine that. Just because I am an elderly, overweight, white housewife doesn't mean I can't read people.

When my younger cousin died at 65, she was referred to as elderly. I blinked and scratched my head. ELDERLY? WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? ELDERLY...she was only 65 as her birthday was the week before she died tragically in a car accident where her car was ran off the road by a reckless individual that didn't abide by some laws. Then the rude reality that 65 is considered elderly by the press soaked in. Yep, I'm elderly. I am no longer young. Sometimes I don't behave very MATURE either.
AS OF LATE, I am more easily irritated and exhausted about how things are going. My feelings are hurt more easily than I want. Back into my PRAYER CLOSET I will go hushing the sounds of the out side world that holds its own opinion.
I don't know everything, but I do have opinions. In the depths of my opinions, the statement DEAL WITH IT comes to mind.
Remember when WHATEVAH was popularized to say when annoyed, irritated, not caring, so what, I don't give a flip what you think? I do. Whatever.
Having seen many changes in society along with the meaning of words...I am at a loss. Out of the loop in so many areas. Technology passed me on by along time ago, but I'm alright with handwritten thank you notes verses electronic cryptic messages or nothing at all. What's the harm when receiving a gift to acknowledge the giver of the gift even if you greatly dislike the gift? Be grateful. Appreciative. Exercise some etiquette by writing a handwritten note if possible and acknowledge receiving the gift.
When I give someone a gift through the mail, receiving a thank you note from them not only means they received the gift, but a polite word of thankfulness is given. It's thoughtful. I know they received the gift and it didn't get lost in the mail. Then there's the polite thing about giving a word of thanks that the giver took the time, effort and sacrificed in giving a gift to them. Out of appreciation, giving a word of acknowledgement and thanks is a very thoughtful gesture.
What's the harm in being polite and considerate? No harm. THOUGHTFUL, having manners with a deeper appreciation goes a very long ways than having the appearance of being ungrateful that you were given a gift in the first place.
Saying THANK YOU is a good thing. Verbally as well as written.
TECHNOLOGY. Like I was saying, I am old. Elderly. The younger generations do things differently for sure. Technology AINT ALL BAD as it has helped tackle many complicated endeavors making advancements in many fields an easier way to complete tasks. Even with all the technology, a kind word is appreciated.
Moving right along. BUSINESS. Actually receiving cancelled checks that I can physically handle verses print-outs of images of the checks from the bank is my preference, but the banks stopped sending back the canceled checks over a decade or so ago. I've adjusted.
NOW, there's a push to save the trees so they say verses their monthly print-outs of the checks. Hey, they say, you can NOW view the checks via internet which requires you to have a computer and if you want a copy of the check, it is up to you to get the copy and have it printed out on your home printer if you be so techie. A paperless society we are striving to be with bank cards and financial transactions taking place using a plastic card instead of cash. Not so far in the near future, here comes the chip in the hand to do business with making way for a paperless society which will be globally. No need to carry ID or cash...it's in the chip. Duh bro.
Grandiose amounts of information are in the CLOUD. CLOUD is no longer those pretty things floating in the sky which change shape and style with the wind. Now it means something completely different in this highly technical world. Where is THIS CLOUD that holds our pictures, documents and outrageous amounts of data? Where are the huge amounts of data stored, but in computers in UTAH. Where else is THE CLOUD?

This morning, I WOKE to thick fog outside. Noticing it when I opened the shutters to let LIGHT inside the room. I have errands to run sometime today and I hope the fog will lift as I don't like driving in traffic on the highway where I cannot see clearly. I have some bills to pay, some grocery shopping to do. Stocking back up on bottled water and veggies before the new year rings in. While I'm out and about, I might stop to shop at HOBBY LOBBY.
There seems to be a barrier between one generation and the next with all the slang words in use by multitudes of people. Almost like speaking a foreign language. Something more to add to a distance between the ages. DO we understand one another? Is it an excuse to not get along making harmony an after thought. I know we all have differences of opinions, but slang makes life more challenging when raising children and wanting the family unit to remain coherent and united. Even with adult children.
I believe the adult children are getting a taste of this as they grow older themselves dealing with co-workers while in the work force working amongst younger people coming into the fold and just doing business in general with the public. Being a HOMEMAKER isn't much different when communicating with others outside the HOME. Each household has its own set of rules which contributes to needing diplomacy with others as well as in one's own home.
What's that saying, men are from Mars and women from Venus or something like that. Disturbances occur between husbands and wives. Misunderstandings take place. A difference between males and females is noticed, but God tells husbands to understand their wives and wives are to love their husbands. There may be a whole lot of getting WOKE when living with a spouse. We are wired differently and don't you forget it.

Now archaic, forgotten is using the word GROOVY which was exchanged for COOL. Along came NEAT. Hey BRO...duh. Not a big deal, but when this younger generation says PERFECT what do they really mean? I place an order at STARBUCKS and the clerk says PERFECT. In other words, no prob with your order. We'll fix that for you and away you can go on down the road and out of sight as long as you pay for your order. NO PROBLEM. PERFECT.
A few years ago, I took notice when so many people said, "NO PROBLEM." I hadn't realized it was an issue in the first place. Now apparently, NO PROBLEM has morphed into, "PERFECTTTT."
WOKE...TARGET is a WOKE store. When I heard TARGET was WOKE, I didn't comprehend what the heck it meant. I had to ask. OKAY...I am now informed to this generation's meaning of WOKE without getting into a lecture about this movement awareness. The age of enlightenment took place in the 1800s so what else is new? It appears that movements are quite common in this present day arena, but many have no knowledge that movements are not a NEW THANG. A constant drama. Upheaval on the streets, in the schools, in the media, in the world, in the churches. God is sovereign. He is steady and stable. The world is not and these so called modern movements really aren't so new. I can find PEACE in my life through the Lord Jesus. Peace. Brace yourself. You can expect upheaval in the present world. It's a part of the trauma called WOKE.
From awhile back, saying THAT's COOL didn't mean climate control. What does it mean if not related to cooler weather? It still pertains to the weather, but it ALSO is attached to slang meaning what? That's cool. This is archaic. Out of date. Now we have bro verses duh. "That's NEAT" doesn't mean tidy and hasn't for decades. NEAT is so last century according to the ones in the know with all their present day SLANG. GAY doesn't mean HAPPY.
I won't be taking a course in present day SLANG or will I be reading the URBAN DICTIONARY any time soon. I'm tired. I have been out of the loop for a long time and when I say I WOKE TO FOG THIS MORNING, I'm telling the truth about what I saw outside my door.
I am awake for the day. I'm WOKE. I have much to actually do today and have made plans accordingly. WOKE is not just a thought or a political movement. Simply put, I am awake as I woke to fog. Now that I have spent time typing up this long winded post, I can go out into the world and get 'er done. The FOG has lifted physically as well as mentally. I am WOKE as woke as I'm gonna get today.
