BUNNIES ALL THE WAY
Our entryway has a few bunnies and eggs adding some cheer to our HOME.
I SUPPOSE I OUGHT TO GIVE NAMES TO THE RABBITS.
Maybe Harvey and Helen?
Will you be taking some time to hunt easter eggs and hide easter baskets? I will probably make some deviled eggs and fix a nice meal for us on Resurrection Sunday. The easter treats were made up and placed in the mail yesterday. Cards as well. I tell myself to take a deep breath and carry on.
Will you be taking some time to focus on this Holy Week and remember what the Lord Jesus did for mankind? I will. He is risen. He is risen indeed.
All God's children said, "AMEN!"

SIMPLY MONDAY
I placed sprigs of faux lavender in a metal container. A surge of satisfaction went through me. I like lavender and until our real crop blooms, I will have eye candy in my HOME with artificial lavender.
This metal container with faux lavender is my EASTER present instead of a new dress. I can't wear this, or at least I shouldn't, but I don't need a new dress this year for EASTER. I'll be HOME this year and will praise the Lord on Resurrection Sunday.I like the way my craft project turned out. Simple and easy to copy.
In the SPRING I think the lighter and softer shades of purple are beautiful. Calming.
When our real lavender actually blooms, I'll pick some sprigs and insert them in with the artificial to give some real fragrance.
I have a galvanized container that I will fill with shorter sprigs of lavender later. I know it will be as pretty making a statement.

SATURDAY
PAUSE. Thinking about this blessed Saturday. Cloudy skies with puffy clouds and 55 degree weather.
When I say I'm doing paperwork, I really am. Sorting through piles of paper seems to be a bottomless pit. I made progress, but have a long ways to go. For a Saturday, I made time for it before a very busy day outside of the house. Paperwork before make-up.
After this mess it's time to take a drive and get out of the house, but first we zoomed in on a St. Louis Award's Ceremony. The 31st Annual Picture the Music Awards Ceremony.
Saw cows, buffalo and sheep in the country on our way into the small American town, Alma to take a look inside the Antique Mall. Put some fuel in our lil car. She was on empty.
Drove to Manhattan to shop Walmart then drove HOME to rest.
Ship wreck Casserole is baking for supper and we will have a relaxing evening.
When we watched our oldest Granddaughter graduate from High School last May 2020, it was a bitter sweet moment. I suppose more and more zoom meetings will be all the rage. That was 10 months ago. Time flies.
After watching the ceremony, we drove across the river and went to the VOLLAND STORE in Volland, Kansas. Population unknown. The town is almost a ghost town. They were hosting a traveling Smithsonian Exhibit about CROSSROADS: CHANGE IN RURAL AMERICA. To attend you had to make a reservation and ours was at 1PM. More people there than I expected. Wearing a mask, we viewed the well done exhibit. More on that later.
It is a little bit of a drive in the country to the little town of Volland. Almost a forgotten bump in the road, the revamped VOLLAND STORE is a nicely made over event's center. Volland has a few houses and a boarded up Lumber yard with building near a creek and a railroad track along with the old Volland store. Countryside to see as far as you can look.
The cattle are super nice out the country. My Husband is a cow whisperer. So funny. He moos and this gets the cow's attention. They moo back.
Back into the small town of Alma. They have an Antique Mall and I had to stop. Picked up a couple of brooches. So lovely. If I have to downsize and I do, my collections will have to go smaller like jewelry. I have a few beautiful brooches, but these I got today are lovely.
We took a drive about Alma enjoying the small town atmosphere and decided to go to Manhattan's Walmart while we were out and about. Decided to have SHIP WRECK CASSEROLE for Supper, but needed bacon and tomato soup.
Also, I wanted to get some artificial lavender to decorate with so I did! Walmart had a nice selection. A Starbuck's Iced unsweetened Green Tea and a banana nut bread to tie us over until supper.
The young man who waited on us at the window must like the color blue because he was wearing powder blue nail polish on his pointed fingernails. hmmm. What ever floats yo boat? God bless him.
A super nice day. Home bound and time to rest.
This week-end, I have to finish wrapping up Easter Treats. On Monday, I will see to it that the packages get into the mail and on their way. Take a deep breath and move onto the next project, cleaning out the dining room cabinets in preparation to paint the room. Monday. It will start MONDAY. I can see the room completed in my head. Better gather up some painting clothes.
We got some fresh country air and exercise today. As I drove the back roads to the VOLLAND STORE and HOME AGAIN, the countryside is very peaceful. Buffalo, cattle and sheep. 🐃🐄🐮🐑 No horses today. 🐎🐴
SPRING is splashing colors appearing in the trees. White blossoms in the dogwood and so many shades of green in many other trees. Even dandelions are springing forth on the ground this March. Daffodils galore. Beautiful to see are the beautiful, rolling Kansas Flint Hills with grey skies. Thanx for joining me for the day's events.
Now it's Supper time. Shipwreck Casserole will be served up on paper plates, because we need a break. No dishes to wash tonight.
Blessings to you.
Be it ever so humble, there's no place like HOME,

FRIDAY
I slept so good last night that I am refreshed this morning. So good. Slept throughout the night. No tossing and turning. Snug as a bug in a rug. Corny saying, but it fits. When you have restless nights, sleeping soundly means a great deal. I know. I am sleeping well. Thank you, Dear God.
Blessings to you out there in blogland This morning I am sipping on a protein drink for breakfast. I'm still working on Easter Treats for my GRANDS and other family members. The first batch of treats will hopefully be in the mail this afternoon. I have yet to brown wrap the ones traveling to Missouri and Oklahoma. I can only work a little at a time before my back starts acting up. So I sit and do paperwork. Staying busy.
I'm jumping for joy...my snapshot pictures are all boxed up and stacked in the closet ready for round two after I get some other projects completed and can come back for more dealings with the pics. I have put some childhood pics in yellow envelopes to give to my children so they have a few pics in their possession. Then when I return to deal with another round, I will work on making up picture books for shelf life, making more copies and framing some.
This morning, I cleared out the upstairs linen cabinet again. It just wasn't working. I'll get back to that after the Easter Treats are wrapped up and in the mail. At the pace I go, it'll take several days to neatly place supplies back in this cabinet.
We did buy some primer a few days ago so I can forged ahead prepping the dining room to paint it. I'll clear out the crystal out of the china cabinet, sort through all the pieces, relocate elsewhere in the house and put some into storage. Turn loose of some pieces. After this, I'll empty the two curio cabinets that are full of my Blue Willow dishes. These will temporarily go under the dining room table for safe keeping while painting. The Blue Garland dishes will come out of the bottom of the sideboard. I think I will probably box up for now.
I wanted to downsize the dining room furniture, so I will be turning loose of the two curio cabinets and after I get the room painted, they will not go back into the room.
This in a way is a big deal to me, because turning loose of pieces of furniture that I really enjoy and like pulls at my heart strings . Hanging loose doesn't come natural to me.
The dining room chairs will go on top of the table and then I will cover them with painter's clothes. Shuffle the furniture out away from the walls and cover them. Start painting primer along the window trim and walls.
Just getting to this place has taken much thought on color. The paint sample has been on the wall for months and I can safely say, I will go with this one. Benjamin Moore Baja Dunes.

WEDNESDAY
Isaiah 52:7
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!
Romans 10:15
And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
NOW I WILL TAKE SOME QUIET TIME AS I SIP A SMOOTHIE. My body is tired after being out in the world for 5 hours. The mask wearing while in stores and driving in traffic cause me fatigue. Had a nice day though considering.
Got up early this morning as I had a doctor's appointment in Manhattan with a Podiatrist.
At 65, I have never gone to a Podiatrist. A first. Hubby stayed in the car as I went inside the office to fill out paperwork then visit with this doctor. She has only been in town since July coming from New York City. She was nice enough and very helpful.
I had a list of questions with me to help me remember what I wanted to talk about and what she told me shocked my socks off. I didn't have a clue that people can have psoriasis on the bottom of their feet. It blew me out of the water. For about a year now, I have had some cracks and layering of skin on the bottoms of my feet and then it started appearing on the sides of my feet.
My feet looked extremely dried out. I buffed, I soaked, I scrubbed, I used lotion and petroleum healing jelly, I wore socks. I tried what I could and nothing took care of this challenge. HOME REMEDIES were not working, so off to the podiatrist I went.
I will use cream that she prescribed on my feet twice a day. Our pharmacy will have to order the cream so I haven't a clue what it is yet. I'm to return in three months to see the doctor again.
I also had her take a look at a couple of gnarly bumps I have at the base of my large toes. She said I have a very bad case of arthritis. Gulp. Surgery can wait if these bumps are not bothering me at the time. Shoe care will change. I have good feet she said. High arches. Just have to work at controlling the psoriasis on my feet. PSORIASIS. I'm just a really dumb blonde these days. I mean no offense to other blondes and I laugh at myself, but I didn't have a clue.
Will wonders never cease? I left very surprised by what she told me.
Left the doctor's office and off I went to take care of other business.
Paid a natural gas bill at the grocery store.
Did a Goodwill drop off.
Menards to buy a special box for Christmas things.
Dollar Tree for Easter cards.
Aldi's for milk.
Dollar General for more sweater boxes.
To the local Grocery Store for supplies and the Pharmacy.
Then HOME to unload purchases, drink a smoothie and to put my feet up. Supper tonight will be Hungarian Goulash.
Will have some quiet time and then work on EASTER BASKETS.
Some reading to do about arthritis and psoriasis will take place. More health issues to know about. Now is the time I will play catch up on doctor visits. I'm due for a gynecologist appointment for female parts, a chiropractor for my back and hip, an allergist to check out food and environmental allergies, a dermatologist to look at some spots, Gastroenterology for a colonoscopy, what else as my regular physical will be in April. It's SPRING TIME and I will get checked out really well.
I probably sound like a hypochondriac. It's just one of those things working at being healthier and needing professional medical attention. Health issues can arise at any age. So here I be arising big time.
Welp, I need a power nap so I can continue on for the rest of the day. I hope to get the Easter Baskets worked up so I can get them in the mail by Friday. Here's to LIFE and being better informed.
More downsizing will take place as I continue to lighten the load in more than one way. I was reading about decluttering. Here's to being able to do that.
Keep your chin up even if you don't feel like doing so.
Counting my blessings. Be it ever so humble, there's no place like HOME.

TUESDAY
RAINY YESTERDAY and cooler today. I ventured out to have my hair done by a stylist and was pleased with what she did. A shampoo and a blow out. The shampoo had such a pleasant fragrance that I will return and purchase some in the near future. Under a hour and she was finished. Nice chatting with her.
Went home, ate lunch and drove across the river to Retirement Cottage. But first went to the dollar store for sweater boxes. Praise the LORD they had some. Also bought some paper plates decorated for EASTER that I will use to fix up EASTER TREATS for family this week.
At the COTTAGE, Hubby and I took a lot of measurements and wrote them down for future projects. I have lots to do so I will be working between our primary residence and the cottage. I stayed off the tread mill that is at the cottage as my back was bothering me.
HOME for snack supper of cheese with crackers, summer sausage, nuts and celery. Good ole iced tea. This is one of my favorite snack meals. Easy clean-up. Loaded with calories. It was easy to hit my limit with this so called SNACK MEAL. Have mercy. Today I will pull back on the calories to balance out the count. V8 for breakfast. Only vegetables for lunch and bone broth for supper. Milk at bedtime. That will help.
Watched a evening movie after sorting through pictures and placing in sweater boxes. This makes my heart sing as I am just that much closer to having this project wrapped up.
In the back of my head, I am downsizing for the future. This is a good thing to be doing at 65. Dishes, a few pieces of furniture, then clothing will all be thinned out and turned loose of. It's kind of freeing to turn loose. I'm dreaming of being super organized. Tadaah. It's a dream.
MOVIE TIME: THE TERMINAL.
THE TERMINAL is a comedy drama, Family Friendly and was released in 2004 starring Tom Hanks and Catherine Zeta-Jones. I remember seeing it, but forgot how good it was.
Viktor Navorski (Tom Hanks), a traveler from the fictional nation of Krakozhia, arrives at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport, only to discover that his passport is suddenly no longer valid. The United States no longer recognizes Krakozhia as an independent country after the outbreak of a civil war, and Viktor is not permitted to either enter the country or return home as he is now stateless. Because of this, U.S. Customs and Border Protection seizes his passport and airline ticket.
TODAY will be an action packed day. The pictures and negatives project will be completed. EASTER BASKETS started on. VACCINE APPOINTMENT and rest. Not sure how our bodies will react to the vaccine. Shall see.
Blessings to you.
Be it ever so humble, there's no place like HOME.

MONDAY
HAPPY MONDAY. How to get organized. One day at a time. One item at a time. I swear the youtube videos make getting organized look so easy and glamorous. Not around here. I am what you call a natural born slob. It never was easy for me to be neat and tidy or organized. I have had to learn the hard way. I have had to work at it. Sometimes it seems to go better than other times. Chin up. Dig in and create some order.
About a year ago and a half ago I went looking for photo albums. None to be found. Thought I would check on the internet and well covid happened and I got distracted. Time passed and I still don't have any photo albums. With digital are more peeps not using snap shots? In the cloud? Or downloading the images onto canvas hanging on the walls?
To get old snap shots (pictures) gathered and orderly, I bought sweater boxes with snap lids. Because the store only had three boxes I will have to go to another store 13 miles away. Hopefully they will have some that match the ones I have. I can't go to a container store around here, because there isn't one. Hodge Podge containers. I'd like for the sweater boxes to all match. That's my hope.
If I find what I am looking for on the internet for photo albums then I'll order some and when I can I will create completed photo albums that will sit on book shelves. For now it's sweater boxes.
After I get more projects completed, I'll go back through the envelopes and pitch many a picture. Thin this out. Send off for books for special occasions and forget the snaps. More to do.
Over the week-end I went down memory lane and got stuck. For three days I have been going through old pictures and trying to make some sense out of this mess I have. Needing more sweater boxes for the negatives, the pictures in envelopes, loose pics, etc.
Originally I thought I'd store the pictures in the three drawers of the Victorian desk. Ran out of room. Back to boxing them up and stacking them in the closet for now. There's a drive in me to get this finished, then I'll do more office work, take a break. Easter baskets will be fixed this week and placed in the mail early.
The pictures stirred emotions in me. A roller coaster of emotions. Sad and happy. At the end of the third day I was tired and a tad bit overwhelmed by all the emotions. Seeing loved ones that have passed, friends I no longer visit with, family members growing up and older, house projects in progress then completed, puppies raised, birthdays, Christmases, Easters, graduations, weddings, baby showers, bridal showers, Thanksgivings, etc. I am only behind about 20 years.
I think the best place for these pictures right now is to keep them in the envelopes and place inside sweater boxes stacked in the closet. They were in cardboard boxes and baskets before, so I do have a little order under my belt.
This week will be busy which means I probably won't get much paperwork completed. I'll need to pace myself.
Need a joke to lighten up my mood.
Knock knock.
Who's there?
Me.
Me who?
What?
Me who.
Me who?
Yes, me whooooo.
That's not funny.
I wasn't trying to be funny.
That's good because you're not.
Well I tried.
May it ever be so humble there's no place like HOME,

HELLO SPRING
PRAISE THE LORD. It's SPRING and we made it. Got through a long WINTER and lived to tell about it. Beautiful day and praying to get much done.
Flowers are blooming with splashes of bright colors. Hello LOVELY. Daffodils and crocus are appearing. Forsythia bushes will bloom soon adding bright yellows to the landscape as tulips manifest in various colors the month of April. Only a few days away. Tulip Festivals take place. A pleasure to see.
Passover, Palm Sunday, Good Friday, EASTER or Resurrection Sunday will be here before I know it. Daughter will have a birthday and so will my elderly momma.
Making plans to paint the dining room this Spring. Have started the mental process of what needs to take place before the paint goes on the ceiling and walls.
Penciling it in on the calendar. This will probably take me a month to get done as much prepping will have to take place and I think this will be the time to downsize the furniture and glassware in the dining room. Unloading the curio cabinets and Grandma's hutch then there's the antique china cabinet. I have had a blast collecting crystal and dishes through the years.
Furniture emptied and shuffled out of the way. Prime the walls before painting. I have done this a thousand times in my head. Giving the process much thought. Thinking through and visualizing where things will go while painting takes a tad bit of thought for my 'ole head.
The furniture pieces are heavy when full of items so in order to scoot the pieces with ease, I have to empty them. Good time to take inventory and pictures. Cover the furniture and floors. Sounds so easy when typing it out, but in real time it takes energy and muscle. Spring Project decided and making plans for this transition to happen.
Tis Saturday. I have looked forward to SPRING for days. This month, the cleaning around the house will take place as SPRING CLEANING kicks in. Always waiting and needing attention. The dust has settled again and I will have to perk up to get the dusting done. Not sure of all the reasons the inside of our HOME is so dusty. We had the chimney professionally cleaned. The heating and cooling vents have been checked. The heater checked. Still I cannot keep up with dusting if I want the entire house kept dust free. It's not possible.
I know that I have to accept this stuff because I live in Kansas where the winds come sweeping down the plains.
I'll be able to open some windows and let fresh air come inside. This alone perks me up. Breathe in the season and rejoice to be alive. Look at things through a thankful lens and count my blessings.
Next week will be busy...a hair appointment with shampoo and blow out, Vaccine appointment, foot appointment, and go to a Smithsonian Exhibit at the Volland Store in the Flint Hills. The traveling exhibit required a reservation so the interaction with others will be minimal.
I love living in the Flint Hills. I have to get out into the country to fully enjoy it. This year I will walk nature trails as best I can, but I need to make the effort to go there. Go on a tour to see the buffalo.
☝Spring flowers to enjoy.
☝Paint the dining room.
☝Walk a nature trail.
☝Go see the Buffalo Ranch.
☝Celebrate LOVED ones.
☝Hello Spring.
☝Blessings to you.

FRIDAY
FRIDAY IS HERE AGAIN. Pizza tonight and watching a movie we had in the closet that I forgot about. I came across it as I continued cleaning out the closet to make room for the upstairs coats and jackets. Still on this task. Kosher Pizza crust. This is a first for me. It will be interesting how it bakes up and taste.
Boxes and baskets of pictures have been stored in this closet. As I make room for other things in the upstairs closet, the coats/jackets are being relocated to the main floor closet. The pictures are being gone through and relocated to the Victorian Secretary. The drawers are filling up quickly so I will probably have to store some in the closet anyways. Just won't have as many boxes stacked in there. I will get a few more plastic sweater boxes instead of using old cardboard ones to store the loose pics in. I've made huge progress even with going down memory lane while going through the pics.
I went down memory lane last night and all day today. It was fun to remember, but also sentimental. I have some pics I will copy and share with my children. It's time to share pictures with them since they are all in their forties. I won't overwhelm them, but will make up boxes to give them over the next few years.
Not sure when this will all take place as I have my hands full with other projects. I had already divided their school pictures placing them in yellow envelopes. If I had done this as they were growing up it would have helped with organizing. In the meantime, it was entertaining and enjoyable to see all the snapshots. Vacations we took, birthday parties, graduations, weddings, grandchildren births, decorating and demolition projects over the years. Places we have lived and visited. Family members we have visited with and others we never met. A great journey down memory lane.
I want to know what I have and know where in this house things are. It boggles my mind that we have been in this house nearly 4 years. Staying busy everyday on getting organized is in order.
When I think about SPRING I smile. Take in a deep breathe and smile. SPRING 2021. May you be a blessed one.
HUBBY went to the barber shop today to get a short haircut. It's been over a year since he has gone due to covid. He came back with a handsome cut and a message about the barber receiving his covid vaccine. As they were talking a very young, healthy strap of a man came in and shared that about 4 months ago he had covid and thought he was going to die. He had never had a respiratory disease and he thought he was going to die. Just now feeling like himself. Hubs found out where we can get vaccinated so we decided to go ahead and get vaccinated. We're on the list. I have had some doubts about the vaccine.
I'd like to go to the stylist and have her shampoo my hair then blow dry it or as some say get a blow out. It's been a year for me since I went to have my hair done. A year. That just makes me shutter.
Plans for the week-end...Think I'll finish the relocation of pictures and coats. Buzz over to the dollar store for a few more storage boxes and candy for Easter. Do some laundry. Rearrange the cabinet that stores grooming supplies. Run the vacuum in the Dining room and living room. Dust. Put together some Easter baskets for my grands and children. If I get all this done, it will be a productive week-end for me.
Blessings.

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS
SELECTING THE CORRECT SIZE CHANDY TO USE IN A ROOM MADE EASY. FORMULA MEASUREMENTS: Measure the room's height and width. Add together the numbers. Example: 8' x 10' room is 8 plus 10= 18" Use a 18" wide chandy. OR Take width of room calculating 2" for every foot. Example: 15' wide room. Take 15 times 2 = 30. Room needs 30" wide chandy. Standard distance between the bottom of the chandelier to the top of the table is 30 inches. When hanging the chandelier, make sure to hang it at the proper height. The bottom of a chandelier over a dining table or kitchen island should hang 30 to 32 inches above the top of the table or island. Most rooms call for at least 7 feet of space between the bottom of the chandelier and the floor.
