CLOSE CALL. On the way to IOWA, we were driving through Liberty, Missouri turning off the Interstate so we could get something to snack on like peanuts. To get off the interstate, I was driving into the right lane to the traffic signal to stop when a semi pulled into the left lane beside me. When the light turned green I began to drive forward to turn right when the semi proceeded ahead of me taking a right turn as well. As he drove, his trailer began to cross over into my lane blocking the entire road in front of our car, so I stopped. His trailer came within inches of hitting our car.
As I sat there looking out the driver's window, a part of his truck trailer crossed above my side mirror and across the hood of the car. He didn't touch us, but this was too close for comfort.
The odd thing is, that a day or so before this happened, I was calling to remembrance all the times I have nearly been killed or died. Then this happens. I began giving GOD praise and thank yous that HE has spared my life so many times.
Before we headed to Iowa, we prayed and I believe GOD hears our prayers.
Last Sunday, we checked our calendar for the week ahead. It would be a cold weather week, but we had no medical appointments for the week and the week was free. Calendar OPEN. Off we went. Blue skies going and when returning HOME. No rain, snow, sleet, wind, etc. Nice to travel in praying for no car troubles.
During the week, we stayed with my Mom and spent time with my sister as well. Full week. On Thursday, my sister took us to some Thrift stores and Walmart. Ate at Wendys. In the evening, we picked my Husband up and went to eat supper at McALISTERS. I ate salads. Stayed faithful to not eating any bread! No desserts.
Riding along in the car at night, I could see the colored Christmas lights. Twas beautiful and it helped warm my soul. Christmas lights still up in mid January was a nice thing to see, if you asked me.
Our visit for the week came to an end. We did stop off at Lamoni, Iowa to look around at the AMISH STORE. We purchased some Harney & Sons non-caffeine tea so I can drink some when I get HOME. It has been 17 days since I had tea. Having some caffeine free tea is a high light. AFRICAN AUTUMN is a new one for me.
Also stopped at an Antique Store. Strolled the aisles and spied a miniature Blue Willow casserole dish with lid and a sugar bowl with lid. I bit the bullet and purchased these miniature pieces for my collection. Sweet.
I'M ON DAY 17 of the Daniel Diet. 21 days of this. Weighed myself a little while ago and no more weight came off during the week. Day 21 will be Tuesday and then I believe on Wednesday, I'm going to have some toast and eggs. I'll be walking on the treadmill as the weather is in full WINTER MODE. Too snowy and cold to be walking outside.
Back to blogging. I'll rest a bit, do laundry, exercise and clean our HOME this week-end. I feel like we had a mini-vacay the last 5 days.
