OKLAHOMA GRANDSONS

SOMETIMES SURPRISES ARE TRULY A BIG BIG SURPRISE!  We traveled to Oklahoma to be a part of our Grandson's SURPRISE 18th BIRTHDAY PARTY.

After being at Church, his Mom text him to go get some milk for her.  He rolled in just in time for the big surprise and he was.

His Mom had fixed a beautiful display of goods for the guest.  Oh so nice.  Shell does have the touch when it comes to a party.  Happy 18th Birthday, Grandson.  18 of them.  He's a man now and doing well finishing up his High School career.  With being a Senior, he's active playing soccer and is also studying to be an apprentice for the Heating business.  He has a sweetheart as well.  Very full year.

Happy Birthday!
He was surprised.

It was a quick trip to Oklahoma, but I was so glad we did this.  We'd return in a couple of weeks so we could watch the two oldest boys play SPRING SOCCER.

I wanted to watch them play at least one game a season if possible.  More would be nice, but it gets a little tricky being so far away from them.

The weather couldn't have been nicer for the games.  We had a great time with family.

While we were in the neighborhood, we went to a very nice Art Supply Store taking one of our Grands with us.  This was so nice having him with us.  Wanted to go to the CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE in downtown Tulsa and also see the Blue Dome area.

When we lived in the Tulsa area, we did not know about either things.  Now I can say we checked this off of our lists.  On this day, it was extremely windy with dirt tagging along.  We blew around some and ate lunch at The Olive Garden.

Nice days with family,

DECENT DAY GROCERY SHOPPING AND BETTER FRIDGE CONTENTS

HOW DID SATURDAY GO?  Pretty well, thank you.  I took the morning easy and then by mid afternoon was ready for a grocery haul.  Traveled to Manhattan for veggies, fruits, some beef and turkey plus milk and a few other things.

Picked up mail.
Fueled the car.
Hy-Vee haul.
Aldi's haul.
Menards for plumbing parts and bottled water.  Coleus were purchased.
Car wash to vacuum the two front floor boards of the little car and spot clean.
HOME to unload and put the groceries away.

The fridge is looking quite organized and ready to serve us.  4 years ago, my fridge did not hold foods like what it does now.  Diet changes for the better.

The pull out drawer is holding fruits.  Other shelves hold quite a few veggies, soy-free eggs, milk, yogurt.  Condiments in the doors.

Hubby had a migraine come on.  He said he hurt all over.  Time to slow down and watch a good movie.

CONCLAVE.  It seems like an appropriate movie to watch since the Pope passed away and the funeral took place.  I'm not Catholic, but have found the movie to be interesting.  NO FOUL LANGUAGE.  No killing.  No sex scenes.  A decent plot and story line.

LIFE ON THE PRAIRIE HAS BEEN BUSY FOR ME.  Seems like the older I get, the busier I am.  Hobbies need to increase and I believe they will after two of the grandchildren graduate.  Praying we get to enjoy LIFE as we age.

More remodeling and decorating need to happen.  The lawn needs work especially the flowerbeds.  Something to look forward to.

Coleus will go into the two front porch urns.  When the weather warms a tad, the geraniums I wintered will be placed on the porch.

Here's to good health and a happy life,
~d

WEEK-END UPDATE, SPORTS, COWBOY SALAD AND CARS

WEEK-END PLANS.  Yard work,  clean the cars, tidy the Dining room, switch out the TV room's ceiling fan, Kitchen faucet fixed, copy photos of Lil Miss, grocery shop and of course laundry.  whah.

Praise the LORD, we got through the week.  The fatigue I suffer with did a number on me this past week.  NAPS GALORE.  I had some frustrating moments dealing with life when being so tired.  In tears and discouraged.

If traveling out of state causes such fatigue I will have to change the way I do things.  Not quite sure how that will go.

Friday afternoon we traveled to a out of town track and field meet.  Got HOME late.  Lil Miss ran in a relay where her team placed first, ran the 2 miler placing first and ran the 400 placing first.  It's a delight to see her run.  Watching the athletes amazes me how physically fit the kids are.  Amazing to see and admire their  talent.

It was chilly outside and when the wind blew, it was uncomfortable to be sitting out in it. Between events I went to sit in our car for an hour.  Cleaning the console and glove compartment out, I felt like I was being productive as I warmed up.

Being able to be present at the events is a sporting event in itself.  Getting older changes things.  The younger peeps don't know it yet, but age changes things.  What was once easy is now more difficult to achieve.  humpf.

I'm not able to see in person my St. Louis and Oklahoma grands participate in the their sports very often, but watch videos and see pics.  I do pray for all my grandchildren and children.  Let the Lord's will be done in their lives.

Let's eat.

On our way to the meet, we ate at a small restaurant which serves a delicious salad called THE COWBOY SALAD with shredded chicken, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, corn, olives, black beans, black eyed peas, small amount of bacon, avocado, sweet red lettuce and arugula.  Getty up, cowboy.  Twas good.

Convincing my Husband that he should eat more greens, he ordered one and raved about how good it was and I agreed.  It was very good.  I'd gladly order this one again.  The roasted corn in it was superb and the shredded chicken had a delicious flavor.  There was just the right amount of everything in this salad.
Quiet place.

Car Enthusiast would get excited about the beauty we saw parked outside the restaurant.

What a ride.

Today is in full force.  Tuna Fish Sandwiches for Saturday LUNCH.  A load of laundry is drying and another washing.  Tended to my correspondences this morning.  I need to go grocery shopping and return before dark so I have the energy to put the goods away.

I believe I will just take LIFE easy today and eat nutritious foods.  In two months my blood work will reveal what my A1C is.  More veggies and fruit.  Cut back on dairy, meat, sweets and grains. 🥗

I have to get busy copying family pics for actual photos.  I'll take the digital pics and turn them into actual, physical photographs for giving away and keeping.  I need to capture all my grandchildren pics and place them in a shoebox for safekeeping.

I miss having order in my life.  It seems my health is holding me back from being more productive then I need to be.  Prayers and pushing me to forge ahead.

In the political arena, I pause to go there.  This is a HOT SPOT where raw emotions seem to dwell.  Is there a political party that doesn't cruelly put the other team down, but works together for the greater good as some would say?  I haven't heard back from my representative about his stance on CHEM-TRAILS.  I'm going to have to go to a Town Meeting where he makes an appearance and personally ask him his opinion on this matter.  If emails and physical letters do not garner a reply then what will?  Letters to the newspaper Editors?  A phone call to his office where the secretary takes a memo?

My beautiful Lilac bush in the backyard has no more blossoms on it.  Time to trim.  It was a gorgeous bush this year.  Beautiful and full of heavenly fragrance.

The Irises are starting to bloom.  Love these flowers.  I have to begin to mark them so I know where such and such is incase I want to move them later.

The Red Buds have lost their stunning magenta colored blossoms with the green leaves now appearing.  As I drive the countryside, the color themes are turning Spring which is a welcomed sight after a very long and hard Winter.

I'm running behind on EASTER wreaths for the front doors.  ha.  I'll still put these together and say I am way ahead of next year's Easter wreaths.  Spring wreaths will need to be hung soon as Spring tippy toes into Summer where it's red, white and blue Memorial day and 4th of July wreaths.

I am truly running behind.  It's gotta be that I am rebelling for all the years of having to be on a strict schedule and now I rebel putting the blame on aging.  After I get my fill of it, I'll not care and perhaps I will once again be on top of things.

Appreciate you dropping by,
~d

STICKER SHOCK AT THE MAT, LOW-CARB MEALS and HOMESTEADS TO SWOON OVER

👗👕🩳 AFTER REARRANGING MY DAY DUE TO THE WEATHER, I finally made it to the Laundry-Mat late in the evening to get caught up on the laundry.  BUT I had a change of plans when I saw the prices on their machines.  $4.oo a load is higher than $1.5o.  Last time I went to the mat, it was a buck fifty.

STICKER SHOCK happened so I had to decide which dirty laundry would return HOME with me where I would use my own machines.  I stuffed one machine full with socks and undies.  Went over to their jumbo size machines that charge $6 a load which is like two machines saving $2 a load.  Saved $4 doing it this way.

I loaded the JUMBO machines with T-shirts.  Boy...we have the T-shirts.

5 machines altogether to dry with the prices the same as before.  Good deal.

We watched a 2021 movie while waiting for the machines to get done then folding what we could. AMERICAN UNDERDOG, the story about Kurt Warner.

HAVING SEEN THE MOVIE BEFORE didn't stop me from watching it again.  When an underdog does well it makes me happy.

Drove HOME.  I was actually tired and knew that I wouldn't have any trouble falling asleep.  I welcomed the sleep.

Waking more energized, I began my day and have plans to go for my mile walk in the afternoon before another thunder storm arrives.  This week the weather is turbulent and unpredictable.

ON THE INTERNET.  FREE TIME allows me to research health issues and FOOD amongst other subjects like gardening on a small scale.  Knowing that these plants help with bugs can be useful, huh?

TYPOs.  OOPS.  Jumbled names.  On the 5-Gallon line, cucumbers are labeled lettuce.  10-GALLON line, the Cabbage on the far right isn't broccoli.  Broccoli next to it on the left is called beans.  Corn isn't mentioned on the 15-GALLON container.  Just to give an example of what can be grown in containers for a patio garden.

With needing to eat more fish, this avocado tuna salad might be a nice change.

WANTING TO GET MORE IDEAS ON LOW CARB MEALS...

The images will help me come up with combination meals such as I am not accustomed to eating.  I know from my upbringing that I don't eat enough fruit.  The variety wasn't there as a kid and to this date I still have to remind myself to eat more fruit like blueberries.

I love cottage cheese and will be using more of it in our meals.  Started scrambling eggs with cottage cheese in it.  Makes a creamy meal.

Juice idea.

Gardening Homestead ideas

As for the next few pictures, I think these are A1 as there are no roads leading up to the house to park a car.  The chickens run free and would be in the gardens eating potatoes which are poisonous to chickens.  It is for the best that chickens not be up on the porches because they use everywhere as their toilet.  Still I think the pics are pleasant and show what someone could do.

Blessings and may life be good.

DECORATING

I knew a very frugal Lady named Edith that shared with me a excellent guideline for decorating. She said with ease, "If your room has clean ceilings, floors, and walls, and the windows have nice curtains, you'll have an attractive room."

John 3:7

“Marvel not that I said unto thee,

Ye must be born again.”

King James Version (KJV)

PSALM 118:17

I shall not die,
but live, and declare
the works of the Lord.

PROVERBS 24:3-4

By wisdom
a house is built,
and through understanding

it is established;
through
knowledge

its rooms are filled with rare

and beautiful treasures.

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS
SELECTING THE CORRECT SIZE CHANDY TO USE IN A ROOM MADE EASY. FORMULA MEASUREMENTS: Measure the room's height and width. Add together the numbers. Example: 8' x 10' room is 8 plus 10= 18" Use a 18" wide chandy. OR Take width of room calculating 2" for every foot. Example: 15' wide room. Take 15 times 2 = 30. Room needs 30" wide chandy. Standard distance between the bottom of the chandelier to the top of the table is 30 inches. When hanging the chandelier, make sure to hang it at the proper height. The bottom of a chandelier over a dining table or kitchen island should hang 30 to 32 inches above the top of the table or island. Most rooms call for at least 7 feet of space between the bottom of the chandelier and the floor.

WISHES

NO MATTER HOW BADLY YOU WISH with all your might that the something devastating that happened in your life hadn't happened and want so badly to go back in time to prevent it from happening...it isn't humanly possible to do this. You can't change the fact that it happened. IT DID. But JESUS can change the MEANING of what happened to you and give you PEACE. He can show you the way in which you are to go. God richly BLESS you. ~Deanna
