Patriotic Lilies

right after the Irises fade.

I liked the angle he has captured 
as we inch our way to the 4th of July, 
but first comes Flag Day on June 14th.

Staycation Day Eight

Day Eight of Staycation was slow paced.  

Very THANKFUL.

Time to notice the Lilies.  

On the corner of our flowerbed 

are a few Lilies that are in bloom.

Their fragrance is worth taking note of.

when the lilies bloomed

Different types of Lilies have bloomed at varying times around here.
I love 'em!  Right now Day Lilies are standing tall on their green stems about 3 feet with the orange blossoms opening up.  Honestly, I have never before in my life enjoyed outdoor flowers like I have this year.  Something new is coming forth in my life.........God has allowed me to see something beautiful in a very ugly and overly busy world. 

When these Easter Lilies bloomed, we made a Bouquet for Lil Miss to enjoy after her May Dance Recital.  Some fragrance with pollen to dust the nose.  The Easter Lilies had a sweet fragrance like perfume. 

Last year, our Peonies from Home Haven graced my Sister and Hank's 40th Wedding Anniversary Reception Table.  In April, we adorned my Mom's Birthday Reception Table with Home Haven Irises and this May Lil Miss received a Lily Bouquet.  I like sharing the blossoms for special occasions. 

Back when my Grandma married Grandpa, Fern picked Wildflowers the morning of the Wedding Ceremony for her personal Bridal Bouquet.

Though she did not have her father's blessings to marry my Grandpa, God provided her with fresh flowers to hold as she said, "I DO!"  She was 25 years old and wore a dress she had made herself.  Her wedding ring was purchased in Philadelphia by my WWI Sailor Grandpa from Kansas.  From what I have gathered my Grandma's Father didn't like his future Son-in-Law's Father.  There was a feud going on.  Grandma gave her Homestead to her Father so she could marry.  My Great Grandpa said to my Grandma, "I hope I never see you again."  I think his temper and selfishness got the best of him.....can you imagine your Father saying this to you before you married your sweetheart?

Grandma did marry my Grandpa and while they were on their Honeymoon her Daddy drowned.  I wouldn't know this until I was way into my thirties.  Grandpa had already passed away and was known to be his Mother-in-Law's favorite Son-in-Law.
