What A Day

WHAT A DAY...WHAT A DAY.

A very pleasant day.  Started with a coffee cup in one hand and a notepad in the other figuring out my day-timer as I call it.  Shuffled some boxes in HOME*SWEET*HOME and off I went to the laundry mat to wash a load of SMOKIES.

One of the large capacity washing machines was OUT OF ORDER.   I, myself, cannot afford to be out of order right now as I forge ahead with attempting to recover what others have said is non-restorable.  THERE ARE MOMENTS I AM OUT OF ORDER and can go no more.  Done...finished.

Only did one load of SMOKIES then drove across the county line to the COTTAGE to hang items up to air dry.  Put a regular load of everyday clothing in our home machines and dried another.   Stopped off at DOLLAR GENERAL to pick up a few items.  Even washed my hair before the THUNDER STORM.

Went outside to check on some other SMOKIES that need washed in a large capacity washing machine.  I left these out on the picnic table to air out some.  SMOKIES are what I call items that the RESTORE people decided could not be restorable.  After 8 months they still STINK SO BAD it hurts.

I am slowly trying to get the smell out of everything.  My TEDDY BEAR Collection got hit hard with chocolate brown stains and smoke smell.  If I can get the smell out, the stains are livable.  Between working on the SMOKIES, packing the COTTAGE things up, loading and unloading, also going through the SERVICE MASTER boxed filled what they cleaned, moving out to move in.....my plate is full.  Busy woman.

TOOK A DRIVE and oh how this comforts me.  Enjoyed it so much.  A BEAUTIFUL day for a drive.  Drove through the country.  Getting back onto the highway where the demons speed by in their autos is challenging.  They don't slow down for the likes of me even though I can look   WENT back to the Laundry Mat to do another load of SMOKIES.  Home to rest before SUPPER.

OH HAPPY DAY.
WHAT A NICE DAY I HAVE HAD.
REJOICE,

It's One Thing......

It's easier to move when being a fit younger person than to be an out of shape  o l d e r  person.
Duh.  DOUBLE DUH.......

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure this one out.  I believe this move of ours is a REAL toughie.  It's taking me longer to move about.  The lifting of even smaller, light weight boxes gets to my 'ole back.  Every day we're making
HUGE HEADWAY.

THANKFULLY we have time to  s t r e t c h  this move out.  The entire SUMMER will do.  I have to stay focused and determined to get this all done.  THANKSGIVING is on the horizon.  BUT first the FOURTH of JULY must come with independence, Labor Day with more work, Harvest TIME will be high lighted being we're settled.

HUBBY REMINDED ME THAT BOOKS ARE HEAVY AS PAPER IS AS WELL.
I COMPLETELY AGREE....paper is heaveeeee.
PACK BOXES THAT HOLD BOOKS WITH FEWER BOOKS.  THIS MAKES LIFTING AND CARRYING MORE MANAGEABLE.

Today, I gathered up boxes and more boxes...then grouped them into the COTTAGE Parlor.  Ready for us to carry them out of the house to the car so we can transport them across the county line.  Trying like heck to be better organized when it comes to this event.  Husband and I loaded up both of our cars and drove across the county line to HOME*SWEET*HOME.  I had to sit down and rest this back of mine.

When my Dear Husband finishes unloading his car, he'll rest and we'll watch PBS's GRANTCHESTER with snacking on TRAIL MIX.

Tomorrow, we will clear a path through the house for the delivery workers to carry inside some of our wood furniture that has been refinished in Kansas City.  Our Bedroom is ready for what will be delivered.  The other Bedroom has to be cleared out for the Bedroom Suite.   I'm squealing....the excitement tis mounting.

SOON we will have to order a new mattress and boxsprings so the Guest bed can be used for real people.

The Dining room is near ready for what they will be delivering.  THEN, Lord willing, I will begin to fill the curio cabinets with Blue Willow dishes and crystal.  By the week-end, I think our Dining room will look more like a Dining room instead of a warehouse full of boxes.  I will begin my hunt for some Dining room chairs that we will use.

JULY will be here soon.  I will still be waiting for a few more pieces of furniture that will be refinished.  Two of the Bedrooms will hopefully be functional.  WAITING for Living room furniture.  The Grey Bedroom will morph into an OFFICE and Doll room.  Curtains up.  BOXED things will migrate into the room that they shall be in.

AND the Kitchen should have pots 'n pans, our everyday dishes, drinking glasses, silverware, food, etc. should be in place.  THIS SUMMER will be one of getting settled.

We still have a storage unit and another garage to clear out this SUMMER.  Slowly we will tackle this.

S L O W L Y.

This evening the birds are singing loud with clear distinct notes.  Beautiful melody for a cool evening.  I have slowed down to listen.

It's one thing to be settled,
d

CHI

LAST WEEK I went into a thrift shoppe that I had been eyeballing for years.  Every time I passed this store, I'd tell myself that I would like to go in there to see what they had.

On our way to Topeka we took a detour and went inside.  I picked up a red alligator looking clutch with detachable chain strap and saw such a cute table with two chairs that my husband said he would paint black for us.

It was a successful shopping spree.

Today I decided that I would look up on the internet what I could about CHI clutches.  I am really out of the fashion loop and had no idea who CARLOS FALCHI was.  I have been educated.

I am now the proud owner of a lil CHI red lined clutch purse with detachable chain.  When I think about it, I do like purses, nail polish and lip stick.  I'm getting so LADY LIKE in me old age.  If I'm not careful I'll catch myself wearing skirts throughout the day and go shopping wearing jewelry with red lipstick and Red Door Parfum.  I had better shave my legs for this one.

~How To Be More Lady-Like In My Old Age~
                ANOTHER GREAT BOOK TO WRITE.

BLESSINGS to you.
Thank you for stopping by.
You are loved,

Snoozing

Off to Topeka for Husband's Lab work.  There had been a mix-up as his work order was not in the computer system.  He talked to the doctor's nurse and got this cleared up.  Blood taken.  I had blood drawn last Tuesday.  After the thyroid dose is changed you are to have your TSH checked to find out how you're doing on different dose.

So we wait.  Stay busy and wait.

NOTE WORTHY: I read that you should FAST before having blood drawn early in the morning before taking morning dose of thyroid meds.  Two hours after taking meds, you will peak and get a false reading if the blood is taken after meds are taken.  BEST to have early morning draw before taking meds.

We headed to McDonalds for coffee, but ended up at SONIC instead.  GREEN MOUNTAIN COFFEE was just fine with a breakfast bite to eat.  Went to my favorite TOPEKA THRIFT shop and found a Blue Willow dinner dish and two sweet vanity lights that I believe are from the 50s.

CHECKED for more curtains, but it was a no-go.  Stopped by a consignment shop in hopes of getting some SUMMER tops.  They had some nice men's shirts in mint condition for 50% and 25% OFF.  Drove to the COTTAGE, picked up another load of clothing, went to lunch and then went to the new location to hang clothing up in cedar lined closets.

I NEED A NAP.

Will rest then go through lots and lots of boxes.  Sipping on root beer as I sit in my work clothes.  Shall see how the day goes.

Curtain Call

Productive day shopping for THRIFT curtains.  I spent most the day washing curtain panels that I was blessed to find.  Taking down some curtains in the COTTAGE, I washed the THRIFT ones and hung them.  The WASH LADY was a  successful maid for the day.

It was pleasant time at the COTTAGE.  Between loads, I rested and sipped coffee.  With the air on I was very comfortable sitting in my green chair.

Some of the THRIFT curtains I bought today caught my eye.  I had plans for them in the COTTAGE, but got to thinking that these would go well with my bedding at the new location.

WINTER grays in the bed covering that rested in the Master Bedroom throughout the cold months and lighter shades of SUMMERY taupe in lighter weight bedding that are on the bed today are both in the design in these curtains so I think I'll hang these THRIFT curtains in the big house across the county line.

This week-end they'll be hung and tried out.  Some rods have to be installed in the Office and Guest room.  I'll buy some curtains from Tuesday Morning for the Guest room and go ahead and hang the lace panels that are in the Master Bedroom to the Office.  The THRIFT curtains will provide more privacy in our bedroom than the lace ones.

I picked up a small turquoise lamp from the thrift store.  This will go in the Guest room.  I understand that the Bedroom furniture will be delivered this coming week.  I hope I'm not disappointed.  May the refinishing job be acceptable.  Butterflies in the gut.  If the furniture isn't up to par, what then?

The house will be taking shape as each day passes by.  I believe it's alright to ask God for HIS BLESSINGS for the HOME.  SO I asked.

So many boxes to still go through.  Have hopes of going through all the boxes in the LIVING ROOM and placing the items in their new location through-out the house.  EMPTY the boxes.  Completely clear them out of the room.  If I get that far, I will dance on the wood floor.   I hope to find some music from a radio station broadcasting from another part of the world.

I would like to have music in this house soon.

Each time before I leave the COTTAGE I load items in to the car that I can easily carry from the car to the house.  My muscles are not as strong as they once were so I have to pace myself as I go.  I carried some KEEPSAKE clothing that have sentimental value attached to them.  A few days ago I washed my old Girl Scout uniform that still has the metal pins on it.  It washed up well.  The smell is gone.  Smile.

My High School Prom dress is still in my possession.  Stained from the fire, but still a garment that I will hang onto for awhile longer.  My daughter's blue Prom dress is hanging in the closet.  She's stained as well, but there is no longer smoke smell stinking up the place.  What else hangs in the KEEPSAKE CLOSET?

A small yellow dress that my daughter wore as an infant, a hand pieced vest that my Mother-in-law sewed for my daughter.  A Christmas vest, one of my Dad's colorful shirts, some other baby clothes.  As I come across articles, I will place a few more items that have KEEPSAKE meaning to me.  Some batons that I twirled as a youthful girl rest on the closet shelf.  A patch work doll blanket my Grandma sewed for me will rest in the closet.

I'm slow at this moving thing,
but I'm in motion.

I wish you well,
d

SUMMER

The longest day of the year arrived and as I was driving a country road it was still light out.  My day didn't go as planned and that's alright.  I had a great day.  I could hear the Locust making their SUMMER music and see twinkling Lightning bugs flickering about.  The temps were cooling down as we returned HOME.

Recalling the day...
Early morning rising and the routine took place with grooming, taking meds before drinking coffee and eating, made the bed, washed some dishes and went to the Library.  Took a short drive to get a cold beverage then check out the Launder Mat to see if the large capacity washing machine were available to wash what I call SMOKEYS.  Smokeys are items that were returned to us as non-restorable from our HOME fire that still stink of odor.  If I can wash the smell out the chocolate smoke stain is still present.  Some cloth items will be dyed a darker clothing to hide the stain.

Machines were busy so made a change of plans.  Returned to the house to work on FIRE RECOVERY paper work.  Took off again for a little bite to eat and return to Laundry Mat.  Finally open.  Did three loads of SMOKEYS.  The fabric I washed turned out wonderful.  The stink vanished on most pieces.  Will let all air dry.

Drove back to the COTTAGE to do regular laundry,
drying certain items like towels and underwear,
washed some dishes,
packed a few more items.
Husband met up with me at the COTTAGE and we had SUPPER
Loaded up the car and headed back to our new residence across the county line.
Got some cold iced tea and took a drive to unwind a very busy day.

My Husband let me rest as he unloaded the cars.
I watered a few plants and walked upstairs to sit and check out the internet.

Will THURSDAY be a slow paced day or what?  I want to go to the THRIFT SHOPPE to look at their discounted curtains to hang in the COTTAGE because I took the lace panels to hang in the new residence.  HOPE they have some nice ones for a few dollars instead of hundreds.  I'll need to launder these lace curtains that are still in the COTTAGE.

This week-end new rods will be hung in two more Bedrooms and I hope to hang lace curtains in one of the Bedrooms.  I think I will hang grey and white drapes in my OFFICE.  Have to think about this before I spend a penny.  The sewing machine will take the two of us to move from the OFFICE to the Guest room.  It's a heavy oak wood sewing machine case with old machine inside.  Then a miniature Buffet will be moved from my OFFICE to the Studio.

PLANS:
Purchase thrift curtains for the COTTAGE for two Bedrooms, Dining room and Living room.
Hang thrift curtains in COTTAGE.
Wash and dry Lace panels from COTTAGE for new residence.
Rods hung. in new residence.
Shuffle two pieces of heavy furniture in house.
Go through boxes in Living room and clear out boxes by the week-end.
Sweep Living room floor and think about how to arrange furniture through-out house.
Shuffle items into place and make HUGE PROGRESS.
Take a long coffee break and pray.

Rest on Sunday,
d

Curtains Going Up

WASHING the lace panels that hung in the COTTAGE have migrated across the county line to our new location.  A set of lace curtains were hung on Sunday in the Dining room and another set for a Bedroom went up last night.

LACE PANELS FROM RETIREMENT COTTAGE

RODS were installed on the wood window frame for lace panels in the Bedroom.  Like the look.  Simplicity.  As we wait for the wood Bedroom furniture to be returned from being refinished our Bedroom is very basic.

The mattress and box springs on a bed roller were the first to enter the room.  Mattress pad cover and bed sheets made up the bed.  A THRIFT purchase of taupe colored bed covering and pillow shams were placed on the plump bed.

Night stands with lamps beside the bed.  A Victorian settee with matching chairs were next.  Lace curtains and a electric fan on a stand.  Clothes are slowly appearing in the cedar lined closets.

Pretty sure that the Victorian Parlour Set will travel across the hall to a small grey and white bedroom that will become my Office and Doll room combo.  I will not know how to behave with my own Office.

It will be a few weeks before the office desk is relocated to this room.  I have walked around the house figuring where pieces of furniture will rest.

This shouldn't be a tough job, but I tend to use a lot of brain cells figuring this out.  Furniture can be moved about after they make their way to the house if the pieces are not too bulky or heavy.

I went through more boxes that are in the Living room in stacked piles.  Not finished yet.  Sweating as I make headway.  By the end of the week, these boxes should be gone from the Living room.  Hope.

This month is going right on by as SUMMER is now here.  We had such a lovely SPRING, but I did not sit outside sipping mint juleps or iced tea very much as I was too busy working on recovering from the fire.  THIS SUMMER will be used to finish moving from RETIREMENT COTTAGE into HOME.SWEET.HOME.

It really is important to take time to breathe and think pleasant thoughts, so YESTERDAY with a fan blowing on me I took a nice long afternoon NAP.  I needed it as I am overwhelmed with being a one woman crew.  I need my Husband's muscles and wit.

TODAY, Lil Miss was at my side as we took care of loading more goodies to take to the new location and did some laundry.  A quick trip to the Library and a drive to our new town.

WEDNESDAY will be here soon.  Back to unloading some more boxes, more laundry and time to thumb through a magazine or two.  Probably will have hamburgers from the grill for supper as I need to shuffle boxes and move a book shelf to the trunk of the car to relocate to the house across the county line.  It will have to be a slow evening as I know my body will be aching and need a rest.

MOVING IS WORK if you ask me.  A work in motion.

All the best and looking forward to SUMMER TIME.
Thanks for stopping by,
d

Thunder In The Background

We drove in the humid summery like heat on hot gray pavements in the dark of the evening along side lush green pastures of the Flint Hill's countryside that holds gentle slopes and valleys.  The Fireflies actively flutter about all aglow flickering like dots of illuminated glitter twinkling twilight lime green.

Connect the dots from one bug to another.  All seem to have some reason to blink.

Fireflies blink then vanish in a split second disappearing into thin air.  They make themselves known to others as if to say, "See me now.  Catch me later if you can."

Do you suppose God created these insects to entertain young inquisitive children? What about old worn-out adults that don't mind being young again when remembering the flashes in the dark?

Their lime green glitter doesn't last long, but they add to the scenery a beauty needed to bring back childhood memories of running to catch the Fireflies in my hands so I could stare at the bug now at my mercy.  What should I do with this small thing quietly blinking in my grasp?

I have often wondered how these creatures have the ability to twinkle in the moonlight. Flickering so.

This JUNE day ended much like any other JUNE day with a thunderstorm rumbling with strong winds and an overdose of rain water flooding the yard.

Swerving in the wind...our car stayed the course on the way HOME as the storm blew through the area.  Rain beating on the glass windshield of the car pounded the wipers as we drove HOME.

GOD HAS MADE MORE THAN ONE KIND OF FIREFLY
ALSO KNOWN AS LIGHTNING BUGS.

FIRE IS FLYING WITH EACH STRIKE OF LIGHTNING.
PERSONALLY I LIKE THE LITTLE ONES THAT BLINK LIME GREEN
ON THEIR BOTTOMS BETTER THAN THE ELECTRICAL ONES COMING FROM THE SKIES.

Sitting in my overstuffed chair, the lightning flashed as if it wanted to invade my privacy as I sat by the window typing away or perhaps steal my peace.  It did get my attention.

No curtains on the windows yet, but there is hope that this week there will be.

I have never tired of the seasonal Fireflies.  One of nature's joys that bring pleasant memories to mind.

Father's Day

I know it's Father's Day.......my Daddy is in heaven this year.

I don't much feel like writing anything.
I know he is in a much better place.

A much better place.
Missing him.

So with that said....I will let this be enough.
God bless you and all the best,

PS
Wishing all the men in my life that are Fathers,
a very nice day.

Biking Across Kansas

We were fortunate to see so many bikers pedal across the countryside as we traveled about trying to make our way to TOPEKA.

Heat Index was 106.
Regular temps were 95.  Too HOT for comfort.

Fascinating to see the bikers.

I admire their drive and ambition,

Are you Kidding Me?

FRIDAY came so quickly and was over before I knew it.  SO HOT outside it was awful.  Just about the time the air conditioner cooled the interior of the car I was at the next location and walked into the store, shopped and returned to the hot car.

My car doesn't like the heat anymore than I do.  It takes it out of my delicate body.  Sweating and trying to cool off takes effort.

Another full day for me.  I am dreaming of the time when I have a slower pace and have time to put my feet up once again with little to think about.  My morning was one of those that I spent time shuffling boxes about in the new living room.

It was a good moment when I found two casseroles with lids that belong to my BLUE WILLOW China set.  I was singing praises as I unwrapped them.  My heart warmed a little more when I unboxed a file box of school papers that belonged to one of my children as I already knew where the other two children's file boxes were.   Then when I found a couple pieces of a tea set that were hiding, I was so pleased to come across them.

This week-end I hope to make my way through more of the boxes crowding the living room.  HOPE HOPE.

BY lunch time I had a chicken sandwich as I drove to Manhattan in search of curtain rods at Walmart.  What I bought was a let down as to what I had in my head a heavier spring rod.  TUESDAY MORNING came in handy for what I had in mind for the bedrooms windows upstairs.  COFFEE BREAK with my Husband and more shopping on the agenda.  I went to Tuesday Morning, Goodwill, Walmart and then drove to RETIREMENT COTTAGE to cool off and rest.

I found a nice tub mat that smelled like a childhood Christmas morning doll of old, a beautiful metal waste can that's shiny and a porcelain toilet bowl brush holder.  I was pleased with my Bathroom finds.  Pleased.  Just think...a grown woman can still be pleased by sprucing up the Bathroom.  grins.

Husband met up with me there and we went ahead and went to Topeka for a bite to eat before going to another TUESDAY MORNING for more curtain rods, Bed Bath and Beyond and then JC PENNEY.  It was there at PENNEYS that I found a heavier spring rod for lace panels to put up in the new Dining room.

I hope to have some curtains hanging this week-end.  This will make me smile.  SMILE.  Making progress and love it.

FRIDAY was my son's 42nd birthday.  I remember being 42 like it was yesterday.  Time gets away from us.  Live like you mean it.

I will be relieved when all the boxes have been emptied and all the items have a place.  After the furniture is all in this new location, curtains hung and floors swept.  I'm thinking by the end of September we will be more settled and I will be working on the COTTAGE to sell.

Between now and then.....I will have to take some time to rest and call it good.

Have a pleasant week-end if you can.
All the best and God Bless,
d

JUNE Jibber Jabber

A pesky fly seems to enjoy being my house guest.  Not fair.  Shue fly....don't 'cha bother me.  Here I sit in the COTTAGE cooling off.  A full day already which had a change of plans halfway to TOPEKAland to look at curtains for the house across the county line.

HUSband had taken the day off to help the telephone men hook up our new phone and computer service.  After making the bed, we headed out for a McDonald's breakfast and a drive across the county line to RETIREMENT COTTAGE then to the COOP to drop my auto off for new tires.

Early in the morning Hubby had already watered the grass and plants.  We dropped the car off and headed to St. Marys to eat at SUGAR CREEK a sandwich.  We were driving through Silver Lake  detouring to a VINTAGE SHOPPE.  Inside I spied a sweet little drop leaf table with two Willet chairs that I thought we could use as MISTER and MISSES in the Kitchen Nook.

There were only two, but they look something like these.
Very comfy to sit on.

The table set is in need of refinishing.  I suggested painting it all white or black.  EWWWW AWEEEEE.  Think we'll go satin BLACK.  Sweeeeet seat in the Kitchen.

We loaded these three pieces in the car.  Table in the trunk and chairs in the back seat of the car.  We were sweating as the table was tied down in the trunk.  My dear Husband knows how to fasten furniture down in the trunk.  Lots of practice.

Drove slow back HOME, unloaded the pieces into the CARRIAGE HOUSE, drove back to small-town america so see if tires were done on my car.  Picked the car up and drove to the COTTAGE to cool off.  All the way back from Silver Lake to small town america were bicyclist waging war on the hot pavement and weathering the KANSAS HEAT.

Think there were hundreds of out going cyclist.  HUNDREDS.  Spring time in Kansas can be very mild or brutal.  No way of telling until it happens.  Last June was terrible HOT and my ole car doesn't do well in the heat.  Have to baby her.

As we rest in the COTTAGE, I am eyeballing the LACE CURTAINS that hang here.  I may have to nab them to hang in the BIG HOUSE across the county line.  Purchase sheer curtains for the COTTAGE.  I checked the DOLLAR STORE for lace panels and they didn't have any.

One of the reasons for going to TOPEKA was to check to see if they have lace curtains.  Playing this one by ear.   We remeasured the windows at the new location.  Taking time to think things through as to what to do about window treatments.  Some windows will have hardware showing off the curtains and some will be on spring rods showing off the woodwork in the house.  The Parlour/Living room/Family room will have fancier curtains as this is what I'd like to have this go round.  Curtains or draperies that puddles on the floor.  RETHINKING the wall colors, furniture and draperies.  Once the boxes are cleared out of the room, it will be a welcoming sight.

This past week, I spent hours going through boxes rediscovering what was inside, packing COTTAGE items and lugging them to the new location.  I sat and sighed yesterday as there is still so much to do.  Making progress.  Making a dent in the boxes.  My body cannot be fooled.  She is very tired and the muscles weak.  ROOT BEER TIME with a fan blowing on me to help keep me cool.

95 is too hot for JUNE.  Storms may brew up tonight cooling off the earth's atmosphere.  As long as it cools and doesn't destroy, I'll be alright with Mother Nature.

We didn't make it to Topeka, but may head that way again after the day cools off some if possible.
Tomorrow is my first born son's birthday.  It was stormy the day he was born.  So stormy.  What a blessing my children are.  Such a blessing.

I'm not sure why God created flies.  Any ideas?

This week has been a busy one for me and it looks like I will have to stay the course to get all done that needs done.  Working fast and furious.  The month is half over.  I think I blinked and the month has disappeared too quickly.

Working on Change of Address notifications.
Closed down the Post Office Box.
New Phone/Computer Service with faster access.  This should be helpful.  ROKU tonight?
Figuring out where furniture will be placed.
Working on Curtains and rods.
Still packing and relocating items.
Still unloading boxes in the house.

All the best and God bless,
d

HOME.SWEET.HOME BEDROOMS

SOMEWHERE TO LAY MY HEAD
on the prairie.

BEDROOMS to rest in and go ahhhhhh.

We have relocated to a bigger house across the county line from RETIREMENT COTTAGE.  Long story short, Hubby was not ready for the kind of small we were into in RETIREMENT COTTAGE.  It wasn't difficult to agree with him.

As we were out driving one day not so long ago, I commented, "AND you know I just LOVE that house......and it's for SALE!!!!"

We went to look at it the same day and put an offer on her.  WE BOUGHT HER.  She is a dream house to us.  A DREAM.

We are in the middle of moving in so there are boxes everywhere.  We took the time and muscle to unload the storage unit boxes FULL of our fire recovery things into the new house.

I am not SUPER WOMAN,
but I have a super Husband.

She has three nice Bedrooms plus another room which is a Sunroom that could be a nonconforming  Bedroom.  We're making her a Studio.  At one time the Sunroom might have been used as a Nursery, Playroom or Media room.  Lots of possibilities.

Lately, I have been going through the boxes with Christmas
e x c i t e m e n t of what is in each box and taking the box to the room the belongings will be in.  LoTS of carrying and LoTS of fun.  This coming week I will go through the boxes all over again and start unwrapping the bubble wrap off of the items to having the things ready to be placed into the wood furniture when it arrives later in the SUMMER.

WORD out is two of our Bedrooms Suites, a Dining room table, Buffet, Grandma's Hutch are finished and will be traveling to our new location soon.

This move is certainly a BIG PROJECT for us.
The well thought out move
is necessary for making a smoother move.
NOTE to self....NEVER say I have no more moves in me.

LAWN NEWS:
Our beloved Heirloom Irises and others have been dug up
and transported to the new house.  The flowerbeds will be prepped soon so the Irises will be in their NEW HOME by JULY.

HOSTAS have been dug up
waiting for their relocation in a shady area of the yard.

WINDOW TREATMENTS:
Figuring out window treatments.  This will be a slower process as I have to decide what we will go with.  RETIREMENT COTTAGE has almost all lace curtains.  They will stay put with the cottage.  I think curtains will come along over the SUMMER.

THANK YOU for stopping by.  You are much LOVED.
All the best and God BLESS,
d

Lemons At A Time Like This

WHAT A GLORIOUS DAY I HAD!

My morning was taken up by going through boxes.
Making headway as I grouped many boxes and washed some dishes.  Hoping to go through another bunch of boxes by the bookshelves tomorrow.  When I have gone through these then I will return to the Dining room boxes and unwrap the items taking inventory.

THEN I'll return them to the box
until our wood furniture returns to us.

I went for a drive to get a cold beverage.  Sweet memories came to mind.  I went past a lemonade stand where a mom was supervising two young girls.  I couldn't help myself.  I had to buy some lemonade.  50 cents a large cup was a bargain.  COLD and refreshing.

OFF TO THE LAUNDRY MAT I went.  More smokey items were washed in the large capacity washing machine.  I SMILED really big when the items came out smelling fresh.  Some things still have smoke stains so these will be dyed later on as I can get to them.

This evening I will be boxing up books at RETIREMENT COTTAGE to move to our new location.  We now have large book shelves in the Living room.  LOVE THIS FEATURE.

SO many of my books were ruined. It's a continuing thing though.  I don't tire of books and I bought two more from the THRIFT Store.  One about TEDDY BEARS and another about Diabetic meals.  Always a reader.

Going back and forth between the new location and RETIREMENT COTTAGE has been challenging, but somebody has got to do it.  THIS IS MY SUMMER JOB, Hobby and newest past time.  I am so in hopes that we will be settled by the end of SUMMER just in time for HARVEST and cooler weather.

I sat on the church pew earlier today and stared out the Dining room windows trying to imagine what snow will look like across the street covering the house on the corner.  We will be in a new location this year.  As I was opening box after box, CHRISTMAS ornaments were waiting inside which made me think about having a extra tall and full Christmas tree in front of the window.

Soon the new Kitchen will be functioning as a KITCHEN.
So much to do.

May we all have a pleasant week-end.

All the best to you.
Praying,
d

DECORATING

I knew a very frugal Lady named Edith that shared with me a excellent guideline for decorating. She said with ease, "If your room has clean ceilings, floors, and walls, and the windows have nice curtains, you'll have an attractive room."

John 3:7

Marvel not that I said unto thee,

Ye must be born again.

King James Version (KJV)

PSALM 118:17

I shall not die,
but live, and declare
the works of the Lord.

PROVERBS 24:3-4

By wisdom
a house is built,
and through understanding

it is established;
through
knowledge

its rooms are filled with rare

and beautiful treasures.

BLOSSOM WHERE YOU ARE PLANTED

BLOSSOM WHERE YOU ARE PLANTED
As long as I live, I will have to continually submit to God's plan for my life. You will be blessed because you turned your life over to God. Be confessing how good God is and tell Him you agree with who He says He is. BELIEVE and watch miracles happen. Be not afraid. ~Deanna

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS
SELECTING THE CORRECT SIZE CHANDY TO USE IN A ROOM MADE EASY. FORMULA MEASUREMENTS: Measure the room's height and width. Add together the numbers. Example: 8' x 10' room is 8 plus 10= 18" Use a 18" wide chandy. OR Take width of room calculating 2" for every foot. Example: 15' wide room. Take 15 times 2 = 30. Room needs 30" wide chandy. Standard distance between the bottom of the chandelier to the top of the table is 30 inches. When hanging the chandelier, make sure to hang it at the proper height. The bottom of a chandelier over a dining table or kitchen island should hang 30 to 32 inches above the top of the table or island. Most rooms call for at least 7 feet of space between the bottom of the chandelier and the floor.

WISHES

NO MATTER HOW BADLY YOU WISH with all your might that the something devastating that happened in your life hadn't happened and want so badly to go back in time to prevent it from happening...it isn't humanly possible to do this. You can't change the fact that it happened. IT DID. But JESUS can change the MEANING of what happened to you and give you PEACE. He can show you the way in which you are to go. God richly BLESS you. ~Deanna
