THIS MORNING, I'M ICING MY KNEE AFTER FALLING the other day. I lost my balance after my right foot scrapped the edge of a curb causing me to lose my balance, go into a run and fall.
One of those slow motion thoughts of going down took place. I maybe should have tried to bow my back in an attempt to counter balance the fall. This may have stopped the fall, but jar the body elsewhere. I fell landing on my right knee scrapping it raw and right hip. Absolutely no pain in my hip, but I ache in my neck, left knee and leg mostly.
The left knee popped when I was working at getting in the standing position. Hubby held a hand out to help me up.
This go round, I felt absolutely NO EMBARRASSMENT when I tumbled. There have been times that I'd look around to see if anyone saw that. I have made progress with not caring how offensive this fall looked to my dignity. I sat on the newly rained-on sidewalk and wiggled body parts first to see if I was still functioning. Fortunately, my bottom wasn't soaked from sitting on the sidewalk.
TODAY, I am icing the left knee with frozen peas. I truly do not need anything to slow me down as I work on getting settled in the COTTAGE, Hubby's Christmas Eve Birthday and of course CHRISTMAS. The fall says otherwise. YOU WILL SLOW DOWN EVEN MORE.
Here it is Christmas Eve. I have a birthday cake to make and frost before 3 o'clock. I wanted to make peppermint patties as well. I am in the middle of unwrapping candy canes to crush and sprinkle in the melted white chocolate for the patties.
The house is a total mess STILL from our move 8 weeks ago. I had hopes of having the KITCHEN up and going before CHRISTMAS and now that it will be changed to NEW YEAR's DAY. Staying flexible as best I can.
I know I have a doctor's appointment the week as I am still coughing and want to know why if possible. I sprinkled cayenne pepper in my tea yesterday and I think it helped some so I will continue doing this to see if it helps even more. Simply sprinkle about an 1/8th of a tsp. into hot tea and sip. It does have a kick to it and burning/tingling in the mouth when sipping. It doesn't last, but it is noticeable while doing the sipping.
I will begin sipping a little pickle juice each day as well as BUTTERMILK. The health benefits of BUTTERMILK were a surprise to read.
Why BUTTERMILK?
BUTTERMILK BENEFITS:
It is a low-fat source of protein, offering amino acids necessary for cell repair and growth. Additionally, buttermilk is rich in vitamins like B12, riboflavin, and calcium, which are vital for maintaining healthy bones, promoting energy production, and supporting the nervous system.
Shall see what it does for my personal body chemistry this new year. Will I be able to stand the taste? Not sure.
Acidified buttermilk is a substitute made by adding a food-grade acid such as white vinegar or lemon juice to milk. It can be produced by mixing 1 tablespoon (0.5 US fluid ounces, 15 ml) of acid with 1 cup (8 US fluid ounces, 240 ml) of milk and letting it sit until it curdles after about 10 minutes. Any level of fat content for the milk ingredient may be used, but whole milk is usually used for baking.
Commercially produced buttermilk is comparable to regular milk in terms of food energy and fat. One cup (237 mL) of whole milk contains 660 kilojoules (157 kilocalories) and 8.9 grams of fat. One cup of whole buttermilk contains 640 kJ (152 kcal) and 8.1 grams of total fat. Low-fat buttermilk is also available. Buttermilk contains vitamins, potassium, calcium, and traces of phosphorus.
It seems like a BUTTERMILK kind of day,
