1925

If only the extra GUEST BEDROOM looked so pleasant, I would be pleased.

When I saw this illustration for a 1925 Guest Room, I sure liked it.  Not just because it's 1925, but because the room is so tidy.  I think a Guest would feel at HOME here while staying for a visit.  My Sis, Brother-in-law and Puppy are suppose to drop by for a couple of nights this week.  I have been working on figuring our meals out and will need to do some quick housekeeping so we are civilized.

Not sure what all I can accomplish today, but have a plan.

Our weather was SPRING-LIKE the past few days after the wind calmed down.  So nice for a spell.  Our flowers are popping through the soil which makes for remembering that it does not stay WINTER all year round here and SPRING is 5 MONDAYS AWAY!

Count Down is on.

We start planning for what to plant and transplant.  I'd LOVE to have so many more WHITE TULIPS and IRISES in the front flower bed.  After all blooms, I will take notice where they did and plan for where more will go when they can be planted.  Better take some pics.

I love soft PINK, but think this year if I can get my hands on WHITE GERANIUMS for the porch urns, I will have WHITE this year.

WHITE AND GREEN plants give me the impression of FRESHNESS and renewal.

In all truth, this WINTER has been difficult due to ill health during the whole month of DECEMBER and part of January...some into February.  SPRING is creeping slowly into the surroundings.  I won't be shy in saying that I have had to spend a great deal of time figuring out how to work these expenses into our BUDGET.  It is a LIVING LESSON and is helping me make adjustments now on how we will manage preparing for RETIREMENT when the day should come.

Watching videos on being FRUGAL.  Think I need to make SMOOTHIES full of nutrition and goodness to drink.  I don't know why I let taking VITAMINS slip right on by without continuing to take them to assist our immune systems.  A bad case of aging brain.

I continue to gather items that we will turn loose of so the clutter is no more.  ORDER will be such a part of my daily routine.  ONCE again the Dining room is our staging area.  AND I am thankful we have this space to work in.  It's a bit daunting when I think of what needs to be done.

Each evening, we enter the cellar aka called the dungeon, to gather items to place elsewhere on our ESTATE.  Items that can be turned loose of are collecting in the Dining room.  I seem to go back and forth on what to give away and what to possibly sell.

We will place a clothing rack in there to hang clothing on so it is now out of the closets and drawers.  There is no other place to place it as I continue working on this expedition.

Missed the Sunday Night episode of Downton Abbey due to poor television reception, I will have to tune in on ROKU this week and see all the excitement.  Already had SPOILER ALERTS so I know the SHOW is coming to an end and all is what it is.

February is coming to a close.  Groundhog Day celebrated with groundhog not seeing shadow indicating SPRING will be here soon, Shrove Tuesday with HOMETOWN PANCAKE DAY took place,  Valentine's Day Sweetness.  Two Grandsons' birthdays.  Winter trips to see them!  Plans for cleaning and making due.  MARCH where are you?

During the month of March, I will be raking the lawns and flowerbeds, etc.  I'd like to edge along side the sidewalks.

This week I need to catch up on laundry.  Next nice spell in the weather, the porch will be clean and the porch furniture washed.  This will be.

It is helpful to JIBBER JABBER.  Helps me get focused.
Blessings,

Pleasantly Pampered

On Thursday I had a NOON hair appointment and ventured out into the WIND that was blowing above and beyond breezy.  SPRING LIKE TEMPS in the 70s, but the wind was more like the month of MARCH blowing in like a lion.

HAIR was washed, curled and dried under a huge hair drier.  This was how I pampered myself this week.  PAMPERED and rested. To sit under the drier and sip bottled water while thumbing through an old magazine in a BEAUTY PARLOR was pleasant.  Shirley Temple curly HAIR was back with product in my hair.

Last week my PAMPER was a visit to have my eyes examined. WOW that was exciting...not so bad, but not relaxing. Tension.

Hubby was HOME ill.  We have had a difficult time kicking ear aches and coughs.  He's gone back to the doctor with an ear infection he'd been battling.  To PAMPER himself it was a much needed NAP and antibiotic.  REMEMBER to eat yogurt when on antibiotics since yogurt helps to replace the GOOD stuff back into the gut as antibiotics take away.

We did watch an old 1997 movie in the evening that I thought was very well done, ROBINSON CRUSOE.  Liked it and want to watch it again.

THE WIND HOWLED late into the night.  HOWLED. Today it is calmer with the sun still shining. Noticing some small buds on our trees.  SPRING is way early.  I will need to rake the flower beds and grounds soon to prepare for SPRING.

This is Phyllis Stokes from Southernfrugal.com

I stayed up till 1:30 in the morning watching youtube videos of a very southern Lady from South Carolina that I believe the Lord wanted me to find.  I LOVED her clean clean clean uncluttered house she showed the world through youtube.  NOW I know I can do this once again and be pleased as punch that I de-cluttered our HOME.  These videos encouraged me to get it together.

Vitamins and minerals were mentioned on one of her videos and I know full hearted that I have got to get back to taking my vitamins. Especially B12, Vitamin E, D3.  Article later.

So very glad the week-end is here.

~JIBBER JABBER~

The smell of frying bacon is filling the house as we will have Breakfast for our LUNCH.  Fried eggs, toast and bacon.  This really is an economic way to feed your family.

THE BEST TOAST comes from the oven and not a toaster. Delicious and crunchy!  Soooooo very good.

A couple pieces of toast, bacon, and fried eggs makes for a great meal any time of day on our plates.  THANKFUL for ways to economize after working on our medical bills.  I am seeing double from all the numbers.  Juggling the accounts to where they will fit into our BUDGET that has no room for these additional expenses. This will pass.  Thankful for that.

Remembering ways my Mother economized the food for a family of six.  Gelatin cannot be ALL BAD for you when it's so good for strengthening one's fingernails.  I need help with my nails since taking synthroid.  Mom usually fixed gelatin salads with fruit mixed into it.  ORANGE Jello with shaved carrots or CHERRY Jello with Fruit Cocktail.  GREEN Lime Jello with Pears!  Those were the days.

Applesauce as a side dish, Cottage Cheese, COLD Bologna Sandwiches with a cheese slice, crisp Potato Chips, Milk to drink....typical lunch for elementary school kiddos.

TACOS
TACOS were another delicacy.

Now I am in the mood to fix a Jello Salad.
Have a SWEET WEEK-END,
d

Feeding Your Family For Less

~Cherry Crunch~

This three ingredient DESSERT makes
feeding your family for less
possible.

Life can be a little easier using a crockpot.
SAVES TIME, ENERGY and MONEY.

1) DUMP two cans of cherry pie filling into a crockpot.

2) Cover cherries with Classic White Cake Mix.

3) Add two sticks of butter.

4) Place lid on crockpot and cook for two hours on high.

5) Stir contents and allow to cook an additional half hour.

6) Scoop out desired amount of CRUNCH then allow to set a minute or so before serving.

7) Devour.

This three ingredient DESSERT
makes feeding your family for less possible.

Adding a scoop of vanilla ice-cream
would be classy,
d

BLESSED ASSURANCE

BEAUTIFUL Friday!
It's SPA DAY for me as I will soak in the tub
alone in the house all by myself.

That will be relaxing.
(and it was.)

The week-end is here.
I am in hopes we get to stay HOME and enjoy.
Valentine's Day is approaching.

HEART DAY on Sunday.
Perhaps I can make some sugar-cookies.

What a wonderful THOUGHT to have.
Blessed assurance JESUS is mine!

How does that song go....

Blessèd assurance, Jesus is mine!
O what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

Refrain
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior, all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior, all the day long.

Perfect submission, perfect delight,
Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
Angels descending bring from above
Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

Refrain
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior, all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior, all the day long.

Perfect submission, all is at rest
I in my Savior am happy and blest,
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.

Refrain
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior, all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior, all the day long.

Off to soak...think I will hum this Hymn.
God Bless and all the best to you!

2016 Pancake Race

Jibber Jabber

Today was not one of my BEST days.  Tired.  When ever I get over tired I feel it in a big way.  The traveling caught up with me. As I have gotten older it takes longer to bounce back.

Thought I was sliding into a sad state, but had presence of mind to remind myself, 'Oh Deanna, you're just tired from traveling in combination with wrestling emotional issues.'

By evening I was feeling much better.

Missed the Super Bowl Sunday game as I was traveling HOME from Saint Louis which meant I would have to ROKU Downtown Abbey and Mercy Street later in the week.

When we got HOME from our road trip the television came on as I asked what the winning score was. Victory.  Later I would watch the Super Bowl Half Time Show and frowned. Not so good.  Not so good.

Visiting with my Son and Grandson was nice.  Our time together flew.  Still when in an old body, the high energy level of a 5 year old takes more out of me than before.

The week before we had traveled out to see my In-Laws and this was an emotional time also.

I believe some quiet time is needed and I will mend.

Alka-Seltzer PLUS

You know sometimes you're really really really over tired and you see something, have a thought or read something that comes across as sooooooo FUNNY.  When out of the blue comes a deep belly rumble from your gut causing a loud cackle to come forth out of your mouth and you really don't care if someone else in the room likes it or not because the laugh is more spontaneous.

I had one of those moments with this:

I had one of those moments.
Are you still with me?

Respectfully Yours,

Decorating On The Prairie: Flowers Anytime

~Decorating On The Prairie~

Flowers all year round make decorating
a thing of beauty.

Fresh flowers are one thing,
but artificial don't need watered or special lighting
so I enjoy FRESH artificial ones.

grins.

The easier the better.

Psalm 103:15-16King James Version (KJV)

15 As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.

16 For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.

Sausage and Biscuits

~GROUND HOG DAY~
passed me by without eating Sausage and Biscuits with Gravy.

I heard that we will have a short Winter because a certain someone did not see their shadow.

With our corner of the world not having rough weather I had to make hay and go shopping for a Grandson's Birthday gift plus purchase Valentine Cards while the going was good.

A quick trip to the city to do some errands and pick my DEAR Husband up from work so we could pick out the Birthday gift.

Hubby said he'd fix Sausage and Biscuits with Gravy for Wednesday Night SUPPER since we were not HOME for Tuesday Night Ground Hog.  He loves it.  I don't mind it.  I will be very contented to eat what he fixes.

It is my good pleasure to think that we will have
a early SPRING.

We are one day closer to SPRING.
Glory,
d

DECORATING

I knew a very frugal Lady named Edith that shared with me a excellent guideline for decorating. She said with ease, "If your room has clean ceilings, floors, and walls, and the windows have nice curtains, you'll have an attractive room."

John 3:7

Marvel not that I said unto thee,

Ye must be born again.

King James Version (KJV)

PSALM 118:17

I shall not die,
but live, and declare
the works of the Lord.

PROVERBS 24:3-4

By wisdom
a house is built,
and through understanding

it is established;
through
knowledge

its rooms are filled with rare

and beautiful treasures.

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS
SELECTING THE CORRECT SIZE CHANDY TO USE IN A ROOM MADE EASY. FORMULA MEASUREMENTS: Measure the room's height and width. Add together the numbers. Example: 8' x 10' room is 8 plus 10= 18" Use a 18" wide chandy. OR Take width of room calculating 2" for every foot. Example: 15' wide room. Take 15 times 2 = 30. Room needs 30" wide chandy. WISHES

NO MATTER HOW BADLY YOU WISH with all your might that the something devastating that happened in your life hadn't happened and want so badly to go back in time to prevent it from happening...it isn't humanly possible to do this. You can't change the fact that it happened. IT DID. But JESUS can change the MEANING of what happened to you and give you PEACE. He can show you the way in which you are to go. God richly BLESS you. ~Deanna
