Home Haven is an old 1885 two story native limestone house with high ceilings, wood floors and plastered walls that curve into the windows. We're just about finished peeling and stripping layers of old wall paper off the Family room walls. Living with the walls partially stripped has been an ugly experience for me. I remind myself that I am blessed to have a roof over my head, but the un. done. ness of the room has stretched my patience. Makes me tired just to think about it.
My 'i like this room attitude' is no where to be found. Well hurry up and get 'er done! In reality there are so many reasons why this hasn't happened.
Moving right along...
I have to remind myself to speak out loud words of thanksgiving, praise and to look upwards.
Making decisions for texture and color on Home Haven walls has been a challenge. Not sure why I've struggled to make a decision, but I have. As often as I have worked on houses, this house shouldn't be such a tough cookie to crumble.
SPEAKING of cookies LOOK at this! Just had to sneak this in.

Just deciding on wall covering took TIME.
A roll of paintable embossed wall covering was left in the house
when we purchased Home Haven. Liked it.
Decided to order more of the same.
One day soon the Family Room will be papered and painted.
It has been a labor of LOVE waiting.
This old house had quite a few layers of wallpaper that needed to be removed
from the Family Room and I was in no hurry to strip it off.
My get up and go...Got up and went.
Pause.
Pause.
Life happened. Pause. Cancer was in the forecast. Pause.
Wait. Take time to pray. Take time to heal. Take time to think. Pause.
Surgeries. Healing. Pause.
Still cleaning off wallpaper then we'll patch the cracks before papering the walls.
Will live with the wall covering for a while before deciding what color to paint this embossed paper.
Hubby ordered a free sample of paint. Kit came in the mail!
Tried it out. Now taking some time to decide. Living with it.
Hubby taped a sample of the paper onto the curve of the wall by the window
and across the room on a flat wall to see what this Val Spar's Lemon Butter color
looks like throughout the day with the natural lighting streaming into the room.

On this particular day the skies were cloudy and grey.
The color was cheery.
Liked it!
After he painted the Lemon Butter, we looked at it for a few days and decided to get a paint sample of SWEET CORN
from the newly opened MENARD's Store in Manhattan.
For under $3.00 they will mix up sample paint for you to try out.
A little Lemon Butter here and...a little Sweet Corn there.
OOOOhhhhhhhh doesn't that sound good?!?
Perhaps there's a paint color called
MEET ME AT THE FAIR FOR CORN ON THE COB.
~sold on having paper up on walls...now just have to decide which color to go with~
~paint chip samples and actual paint on the bare walls also on sample paper~
~paint samples here and there~
~other paint chip samples~
I ruled out the teals and garnets...which I love and think would make a Family Room a cozier place. The teal just doesn't go very well with the color of furniture we have and the garnet is a tad bit darker than I wanted. Before we decide it's a done deal with the Sweet Corn,
I want to get one more sample of a honey brown
like a lighter shade of graham cracker and see how it looks.
GRINS...just one more. Uh huh.

Did you ever think that it glorifies God to decorate your Home?
To use the talents He gave you in the first place to bring order into your home environment
is a right thing to do. Cleaning and organizing Home is a godly thing.
Using the talents that God has given you in a honorable,
