All In A Day

Typing on medical papers for so much of the day, I was seeing double and needing a break because I do not type without looking at the keyboard.  Hours of typing.  Eye fatigue.

Making headway gave a sense of accomplishment.  It was just one of those days I reminded myself to hang loose with a sense of humor even if I was tense.

When it was time to go get Lil Miss from school, I packed four small packages into a blue tote to make it easier carrying them into the post office to mail gifts to loved ones.  To save time.  Cold outside.  I also needed to buzz by the Bank.

Glancing inside the Post Office as I passed by to see if there were a line or not.  No one standing in line as I rolled my auto to a stop and quickly walked inside to have a postal clerk weigh the packages to mail before they closed for the day.

Just a few minutes to spare as the clock ticked.  Because one of the packages took longer than I thought it would to stick a tag on the package, I would now be late picking Lil Miss up from school.  Of all the times for my seat belt to be stubborn latching, I had to fidget to click.  Clock ticking.

The school bus was half a block away from school as I passed the Court House.  Now I knew I would be 3 minutes late.  Not real late, but late enough.  She'll be waiting for me.

Putting a smile on my face, the Principal was dressed as a little girl cheerleader with a sweet purple bow in his hair.  The kids had made a bet with him about a fund raiser and they beat him so he dressed like a WILDCAT.  Smiling I waved bye as we headed toward the Bank.

My car window would not roll up as I finished banking business in the drive-thru.  Thankful it wasn't snowing or raining.  Not joking…my thoughts went to thinking if this were my husband.. this wouldn't be happening to him.  It always seems to be me that these mishaps happen to.

So I said out loud…"LORD, If this were my husband, this wouldn't be happening to him.  It always happens to me.  Sigh.  Do you love him more than you love me???"  As soon as these words left my mouth…the electric window rolled up.

"T h a n k y o u, LORD."

When we got HOME, I tried opening a bag of popcorn that wouldn't give.
Another hiccup in my day.

We had delicious white cheese popcorn and cold water to sip while watching a KIDDY SHOW.  Nice to sit with Grand daughter eating popcorn.

Supper came and went as we watched Downton Abbey.
This season seems to be flying.

The evening is young,

WORD Perfection

Isaiah 53:6  All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way;
and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of all.

A picture is worth a thousand words,
but WORDS are music to the soul and
KIND WORDS are sorely needed,

The Amish Flu

As I napped yesterday, I woke to a fresh layer of snow on the trees.  SNOW covering everything.  SO PRETTY.  Freshens the scenery.  Made me think it was CHRISTMAS.  I didn't sleep at all the night before.

I was so tired getting back from a quick trip to TOPEKA for my 6 month follow-up for Thyroid health.  All checked out fine.  My numbers are once again where they are supposed to be.

The Thyroid Nurse told me a joke after asking if I had my Flu Shot.  See if you get the punch line.  He asked me if I had my Flu Shot and then proceeded to ask if I had heard about the AMISH FLU?  I asked if this was a JOKE?  He said at first you go HORSE and then begin to go BUGGY.  I told him that was CUTE.  haha.  Now I can say, I have heard about the AMISH FLU.

As I drove HOME,
I didn't see any AMISH while I was out amongst
the ENGLISH.

I deliberately didn't go shopping, but came back to my HAVEN away from slick roads and ice.  Little pellets of round snow spit were just starting to fly.  SPIT BALLS.  Micro snow balls to throw.

I knew I could take an afternoon nap on our sofa and catch up on sleep.  Took the phone off the hook.  It has been a very long time since I took an afternoon nap on the sofa, I about cried.  Napping all cozy with a throw over me, I woke just before Hubby was to get home from work.  Evening was nice.  I had no trouble sleeping last night and woke early for me for coffee and blog.  Back on schedule.

It's the middle of the week ALREADY.  Now we have our CHRISTMAS snow.  LOVE IT.  WINTER WHITE.
Last week, we had a few days like early SPRING.  Today, grey skies and cold.  Bundle up.

After the Christmas decorations are gone....kind of have withdrawal by looking at the bland blahs.  WINTER WHITE is so beautiful that IT does help lift my spirits.  Cold weather 'n all.

I need to go pick up the mail and a weekly local newspaper.  My Wednesday Ritual for an old woman.  My weekly SOCIAL was going to the doctor's office all dressed so purdee.  Perfumed with lipstick.  grins.

S o m e h o w, I will make a day where I go to the Library AND the Museum on a regular basis.  LIKE clockwork.  Maybe go watch the Quilters make their yearly quilt that they auction off to raise funds for the museum.

Getting into the rhythm of things...There's a huge box upstairs filled to the brim with old papers that I need to sort through.  If I put some good music on, I will attempt to get started on this exciting task that isn't going AWAY anytime soon.  The glamour of it all.

Two of the main rooms I need to deep clean DUST/Vacuum are the Master Bedroom and the Family room.  Doing chores.  Dear God, please help me get excited about this and get this done.  In Jesus Name I pray, AMEN.

With ALL of the unrest in the world, I need to be THANKFUL that I am HOME.  Thankful that I have these chores to do.  I have a home that collects DUST and needs the  human touch.  A time to pray out loud while I am HOME alone.

I had a SENIOR MOMENT last week.  Will share.  I opened the clothes dryer and proceeded to load it with DRY DIRTY clothes.  Was thinking it was the washing machine.  It hit me as I was loading.  Duh....these clothes are DIRTY and this is the dryer.  I seem to be on auto pilot at times.  Unloaded the clothes and corrected the mistake by placing the DRY DIRTY clothing into the washing machine to get washed
t h e n place them in the dryer.

OKAY....now I know I have way too much stuff on my mind.  PERHAPS I do have the AMISH FLU.  Am buggy.  PLEASE Pass the oats.  Going horse/hoarse.

Horses like oats, right?

Decorating On The Prairie: Dummy 101

Dumb-Waiter Table

~SECRET KEEPER~
I was the DUMB one that didn't know that these two level tables are called DUMB-WAITER TABLES.  One of the things my Husband was given by his Parents was this table.

This past year, she's been sitting in the bump out holding a lamp which was removed for the Christmas tree in our tiny Conservatory.  After the tree came out the temperatures were freezing.  I didn't think it prudent to place the table back in there.  The unforgiving temperatures would for sure play heck on the integrity of this Dumb-Waiter Table that has some age on her.

She sits in our Parlour beside the camelback sofa.  Liking her while thinking she's a nice addition.

ADDING some WINTER FROST in a cut glass vase makes a seasonal statement for me because I've been Decorating on the Prairie getting educated on what DUMB-WAITER TABLES are used for.
Got any ideas?

Tea Service on upper level with room for tea cups on the lower level.  Desserts for all.  Desserts on lower with pretty china and silverware on upper level.  A lamp or vase on top.  Nic-nacs.  Miniature sandwiches for guests.  Wine, cheese and crackers.  When placed beside the Buffet, they allowed additional items for guest to help themselves.  When beside a Dining room table, the Hostess could serve from it.

What ever you decide there will be no need for another to serve you.
We can do it ourselves.

NO Servants to overhear your SECRETS to sell for money as you gossip or chat away.
These mahogany "waiters" were both deaf and dumb, and were therefore unable to hear or tell secrets. Thus, they became popular in upper class homes, especially for sweetmeat banquets, almost overnight.

BLESSINGS to you in Blogland.
Glad you stopped by,

DECORATING

I knew a very frugal Lady named Edith that shared with me a excellent guideline for decorating. She said with ease, "If your room has clean ceilings, floors, and walls, and the windows have nice curtains, you'll have an attractive room."

John 3:7

Marvel not that I said unto thee,

Ye must be born again.

King James Version (KJV)

PSALM 118:17

I shall not die,
but live, and declare
the works of the Lord.

PROVERBS 24:3-4

By wisdom
a house is built,
and through understanding

it is established;
through
knowledge

its rooms are filled with rare

and beautiful treasures.

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS
SELECTING THE CORRECT SIZE CHANDY TO USE IN A ROOM MADE EASY. FORMULA MEASUREMENTS: Measure the room's height and width. Add together the numbers. Example: 8' x 10' room is 8 plus 10= 18" Use a 18" wide chandy. OR Take width of room calculating 2" for every foot. Example: 15' wide room. Take 15 times 2 = 30. Room needs 30" wide chandy. Standard distance between the bottom of the chandelier to the top of the table is 30 inches. When hanging the chandelier, make sure to hang it at the proper height. The bottom of a chandelier over a dining table or kitchen island should hang 30 to 32 inches above the top of the table or island. Most rooms call for at least 7 feet of space between the bottom of the chandelier and the floor.

WISHES

NO MATTER HOW BADLY YOU WISH with all your might that the something devastating that happened in your life hadn't happened and want so badly to go back in time to prevent it from happening...it isn't humanly possible to do this. You can't change the fact that it happened. IT DID. But JESUS can change the MEANING of what happened to you and give you PEACE. He can show you the way in which you are to go. God richly BLESS you. ~Deanna
