VALENTINES ARE HEARTFELT
I MADE MY WAY TO DOLLAR TREE IN TOPEKA to find the aisles of the store very crowded with OLDER shoppers with the CARD SECTION of the store too busy to browse. Like a circling buzzard I dodged off to another aisle to look while the others got their cards and left.
If a person waits another week to purchase their cards, I think it may be slim pickens as this place is a very popular place to shop as they are nice cards for a fraction of the cost than a HALLMARK CARD.
Now to fill the cards out and have them ready to mail. It seems I send the family cards for Valentines, Easter, Christmas, Birthdays, Anniversaries and sometimes when ill or thinking of you. Always heartfelt. πFebruary first is tomorrow. Each day I will write out a few cards so they are ready to mail by Friday. Never know these days how long it will take for the mail to travel to its destination.
Finding the LAB at this huge Hospital took some doing, but I managed. Got the paper work completed and waited for my turn. Technician was excellent. By this time I was hungry. Starbucks was my choice for white egg bites with roasted red peppers. I sat in the Dollar Tree parking lot eating my treat. Unsweetened Green Tea tasted really good. Shopped at Dollar Tree and then Natural Grocers where I rode an electrical cart. Checked out and loaded my spoils in the car. No eggs today as I like to buy soy-free eggs and they were out. Better luck next time.
TRAVELED HOME to put away the groceries. This week I must eat more fruits and veggies, take my supplements, work on decluttering and take time to read my Bible slowing down my intentions. There's no place like HOME to do this. The chaos in the world is out there. I wish I were feeling better.
My week-end was very uncomfortable health wise so I tried to stay close to a toilet.
While at the COTTAGE, I managed to shred papers finishing this task and took a bow. Having worked on this task for months, I just about couldn't believe that the shredding was done. A weight has been lifted off my shoulders knowing old PAPERS are off my property. As each piece past through my hands feeding them into the shredder, I realized that with each check written, my husband and I had to make money to pay these bills. He seriously was the BREAD WINNER in our HOME. Many hours of labor and sacrifice took place so the checks could be written. This is love from my dear husband. pause and give thanks.
Medical bill after medical bill were paid and we had a slew of them. I realized just how high some of our utility bills were when we lived in the old rock house. My eyes bugged recalling that they were indeed hefty. I had forgotten until I looked at the canceled checks. Paying car payments, gifts, remembering birthdays and holidays, medical, etc. came to remembrance. Seeing carbon copies of financial gifts written to family members that are no longer with us, made me somewhat contented that I remembered them on special occasions like Father's Day, Mother's Day, Christmas, etc. with cards and cash. I hope they felt special. Heartfelt.

Hubby and I moved the two curio cabinets into different places which frees them up for me to clean them and stock them full of crystal and dolls which gets them out of boxes. This is a temporary fix as the rooms will have some work done to them and when the time is right, they will be moved again. Here we go again shuffling. It's the great American half time story especially for me.
ON MONDAY, I signed a release form at my old Gynecologist's office to have my medical records faxed to my new doc. I am looking forward to hearing what she has to say about what's going on in my body. FIBROIDS can be such a problem. Mine have reared their ugly heads close to 20 years. I had hoped to make it to menopause where they are suppose to shrink. I have my records and compare their sizes as time passes by. Mine have shrunk, but one is huge and has calcified putting pressure on other organs. Sometimes my side feels bloated.
As I read what is considered to be large fibroids, I took a deep breath as mine are huge. Even with them shrinking some, they may all calcify and cause pressure making it uncomfortable.
There are some newer techniques for removing these little monsters in the body. I will visit with the doctor and see what she thinks. I may be in lines for a hysterectomy. At any rate, something has to be done.
I question as to why so many women have fibroids. It is suggested as to why, but then that saying we don't know what causes them creeps in. LIFE would be better without them. That's a heartfelt response.
Valentine's are better.
I continue taking inventory when I can by taking pictures of items then packing them. It is a slow process for me as I don't feel the best. Forging ahead as best I can.
FEBRUARY is arriving in cold fashion. I hesitate to get out in this bitter cold weather. In a few days it will warm up making it easier to get around. Even with bundling up, it's bitter cold. Chills me to the bone.

JANUARY JINGLES
THE MONTH HAS FLOWN. It has been a busy one for us and keeps getting busier as we are working hard to get the COTTAGE ready for our exodus later this year to it. It may not be the promised land, but I believe it is a place of healing for us as we are aging with health issues that need attention with less to do concerning upkeep of a large house. It is a process getting there.
Hanging loose comes to mind as we pave a path to get to the COTTAGE. Morphing along, I know I have way too much decorating stuff. As I climb out from under the bondage this stuff has on me, I am struggling to change. I like my STUFF so much I hate to say good-bye to it.
The Christmas tree was taken down and all the HOLIDAY DECOR put in tubs. We finished redoing the COTTAGE SHED and added muscle racks to it so the decor could migrate to it. I helped shop around for the things we needed for redoing the interior of the shed. We cleared the boxes and contents out of the shed. Hours went into this. I went through the boxes and sighed. Hubby ripped the ceiling paneling down and replaced it with new. Same with the walls. Sheet rock went up then new paneling. Old off and new on. Trim. Shades. Lights up. Some painting done. Racks taken apart and transported to shed to be assembled. Racks filled with decor.
I still have some tubs in the basement that will be carried up the stairs and taken to the car to migrate to the shed across the river. I had put this on hold as Hubby began to work again on the COTTAGE BATHROOM. I had so many papers to go through and shred. A very long drawn out process. Just finished up when I didn't think I was ever going to get to the place of being through. Surprise! It happened.
Purchasing cardboard moving boxes started and I played a game at getting 15% off a bag full of boxes each time I went to MENARDS. Just how many small boxes could we fill in a grocery bag? It varied. Anyhow, we bought quite a few and they are sitting out here and there throughout the house slowly getting put together and filled with our belongings. As I go through our stuff, I know I will turn loose of more once we get settled into the Cottage. LIFE IS SHORT and I have to deal with what is truly important and it's not the hanging onto all of this STUFF. I can let go and let GOD.
During January, I started taking pictures for inventorying our belongings. This will take all of February to complete. Maybe longer.
Hubby has been busy crawling under the COTTAGE doing plumbing. By the end of February, the Bathroom should be up and going. I continue to day dream about where pieces of furniture will go in the COTTAGE and what to do with what won't fit.
I had a great medical appointment mid January where my A1c and cholesterol were good numbers. I couldn't have been happier, but the very next day my outcome turned grim as I began to have heavy bleeding. January found me having medical problems in a different compartment that I pray will get better as I have grown wary with female issues. Having to get a different Gynecologist isn't an easy task for someone like me who wants a female D.O. They are limited. I found one, but have to wait two months to get in to see her unless after she receives my medical records and allows me to have an earlier appointment. Praying I get to go earlier.
I'm getting my exercise between bubble wrapping items and putting together boxes. Mad dashes to the toilet this week-end kept me hopping. I think there's a better way to get my exercise. If I have to have a hysterectomy, I will have to take time to heal up from it. 6 weeks?
January is wrapping up and I am not ready for the days to come to an end. Will February go as fast? The bitter cold will not be missed when SPRING arrives, but for now, I need the indoor activities to speed up with the days slowing down. If that makes sense.
When the Bathroom is completed, then we will find ways to short cut our remodeling plans and begin moving into the COTTAGE. I am packing boxes and taking a few over each time I go there. The Cottage will get crowded quickly, but it will morph as we get a little here and there taken care of. A storage unit will have to be rented to house the things in the Carriage house and the overflow of pieces of furniture that we will have to decide what to do with. After we are at the place where we can empty our main property then there will be touch up projects to do before the house goes on the market.
My head is spinning as the month gets away from me. January Jingles as I hear the cold winds blow. Winter is truly here and I am ready for SPRING and not ready for SPRING. Each day is full of activities to participate in. I am amazed at how much there is to do to make THIS MOVE HAPPEN.

OH MY GOSH...IT'S COLD
THE TEMPS ARE DIPPING as I drove HOME this evening. I'm not a cold weather person, so when I entered through the back door, the warmth from the Kitchen was a welcoming room. It is about 14 degrees here. I could see the temps falling in the car as I drove HOME. Taking my shoes off and placing my handbag with keys in the Dining room are a ritual I practice. I won't be fixing supper tonight. Munching on pretzels dipped in peanut butter. Sipping water and HOT green tea. My housecoat is being washed as I type. It has a way of getting dirty so easily when I LIVE IN IT.
HUBBY HAS BEEN WORKING UNDER THE COTTAGE FLOOR to repair the bathroom plumbing. We took separate cars today as I knew I'd have to leave to come back HOME before him. He has made huge progress on the bathroom. Makes my heart soar. Big smile.
I FINISHED shredding the paper that was in that last tub. Hallelujah and a half. When I shredded the last piece of paper, I about couldn't believe it. HOURS have gone into this project. It amazes me where our money has gone over the years. The last of the old check carbons were from 2009. So many medical bills, utilities, mortgages, car payments, gifts, ministry donations. I did find some receipts for pieces of furniture we had bought over the years. The claw foot tub that we are going to put in the COTTAGE bathroom was purchased back in 2009! That makes my head spin.
It was suppose to go into the rock house bathroom when we remodeled it, but this didn't happen as the house had a fire and we moved on. It will fit nicely now in the small COTTAGE bathroom when the time comes in 2023.
http://homehavenministry.blogspot.com/2010/04/decorating-dreams.html
We came across a drawing my husband had doodled of the front porch on the COTTAGE. If this is the design we follow, it will be such a cute COTTAGE when completed. We talked about going ahead and pulling up the grungy, stained carpet and living with the old wood floors until we can get to refinishing them in the future. We will cover them with the area rugs we have now in the main house. I think it will help speed us up into getting into the COTTAGE before SPRING.
We shuffled the two curios that were resting in the Living room into different spots. The one we moved into the Dining room will hold crystal that I already have at the COTTAGE and the pieces I have boxed up waiting to be taken to the COTTAGE. I will clean this piece hopefully next week and round up the crystal to place in the curio. This will free up the crystal that is sitting out and about. At least it will be grouped together and be there waiting when we get moved over.
The other curio cabinet went into the pink bedroom where I can fill it with my doll collection. This made me smile as I have been boxing up my dolls. This will give me a place to house them for now until the front bedroom is ready for the curio cabinet. I'm still taking pictures of my dolls and hope to get them moved over this week so they are out of the main house.
I will continue working on boxing up dolls and Kitchen things then the Blue Willow dishes will be boxed up. I'll leave them boxed up and put them in the Dining room until we get further along on this move.
When going from a larger house to a small COTTAGE, it's tricky knowing what to downsize to. Having order is a must.
I pray this week goes better as I have had a rough ten days considering my female plumbing. It's been awful. I have to get checked out as I need to know what's going on with my body. I'm too old to have periods. Maybe my fibroids are making a disturbance in the force. With being elderly, the lining in the uterus can become too thin or there can be hormone imbalances. Fibroids can cause issues or it can be cancer. So with all this in mind, I've found a different Gynecologist that's a female and a D.O. I look forward to hearing what she has to say. Perhaps she will suggest a different procedure than a hysterectomy. Something more conservative. If I have to have a hysterectomy, then I will.
I went to St. Francis Hospital to have a blood test done to see if I'm anemic. I am. Taking iron now and I shouldn't have waited. Bummer. The wait to see my new Gynecologist is 2 months out. I'm taking Ibuprofen which helps with the flow that's not suppose to be there. My medical records will be faxed this week and I will see what happens when the doctor reads my records. I may get in earlier to see her or the other D.O. that works with her.
Mercy, if it's not one thing it's 4 other things.
In the meantime, I pack when I can and do what I can. Time to crank the heat up some. It's getting chilly in this ole house. 12 degrees outside feeling like a -2. WINTER has arrived and is quite chilly. I think having a warm HOME to go to is such a blessing.
Baby, it's COLD outside.
HOME sweet HOME is truly one of my favorite places.

ON COLD WINTER DAYS
FROM HERE, I CAN HEAR THE MINIATURE WASHING MACHINE WHIRRING in the Kitchen as it washes a load of cotton towels. On load three. Today, I'll go over to the COTTAGE and machine dry these lovelies as I like the way towels feel after being dried in a machine. Air drying towels outside is asking for trouble. Stiff as a board some would say.
Besides doing LAUNDRY, this morning I have been working on placing paper print outs of our belongings in sheet protectors for a BINDER. Keeping these images on hand will be helpful to see just what I have to use.
Having a binder, pics in the cloud and camera chips in a safety deposit box, are a great way to collect info for a variety of reasons. May I be so industrious.
Hoping to make it over to the COTTAGE later, I will shuffle more furniture plus STUFF to make room for moving huge curio cabinets to new spaces. If I can get this done this week-end then I will feel like I made PROGRESS. whoot whoot.
I continue to declutter as I go through everything and this is exactly what happens to me. grins.

ONE DAY CLOSER TO SPRING!
LAST NIGHT AS I WAS DRIVING HOME across the prairie in the bitter cold temperatures, the sun was still up. NICE as the sun is setting later being closer to 6 pm instead of 5. Each day as we crawl closer to SPRING, the dreary WINTER gets lighter. Reminder that it won't be WINTER forever!!! Pinch myself. SPRING will truly come.
The little shop 37 PINE in St. Marys, is decorated for SPRING. It was like a breath of fresh air looking around yesterday. Colorful Heart garlands were draped across the chandeliers making a nice statement. It looked like they had cut out heart shapes attaching them to twine/string to make garlands.
A nice decorating touch easy enough that I could copy these to add some cheer to a room. If I can get some old wallpaper catalogs, I could copy the idea of colorful hearts to make garlands. hum. Now to find some old wallpaper catalogs. Paper print-outs from HOBBY LOBBY would work just as well. For now, I have a VALENTINE paper garland for the fireplace that I will hang later today.
Sitting in the Kitchen Garden Window are Paperwhites that I planted last week. A good growth is there. SMILES. I'll wait a few days before transplanting them into the larger galvanized container.
I also have a Schefflera plant in the window that I will repot into a porcelain fish bowl. After it adjusts, I will take the newly potted plant over to the COTTAGE in the SPRING to sit by a Parlor window. I'd hate to lose this one as it was the plant we received from my Mother-in-law's funeral 6 years ago this month.
She has been gone 6 years. The day of her funeral was like a gorgeous SPRING DAY at 73 degrees.
ON THE HOME FRONT. AS FOR PACKING...it's a slow process. First, this old gal purchases boxes, take them HOME, open them up, tape the bottoms shut, snap a pic of the item going into ze box, bubble wrap the item that's going into ze box, carefully place item into ze box, tape the box shut, mark the box, stack box. Sounds SIMPLE enough doesn't it? The tape dispenser doesn't cooperate with me each time. I have a wrestling match getting the tape unstuck from itself being set free to touch base with the box I'm working on. ha.
It works pretty well to make up half a dozen boxes first so they are ready to fill.
I'm taking into account that it doesn't always RUN as smooth as it would seem. Things are heavier to me these days as I am quickly aging and I have to put more muscle and sweat into the process than I did 30 years ago. I may know more about the process of how to box up things then I did then, but the physical part of it is taking more out of me than before. Gosh, if only the two were working together than not having the know how when the strength was there. Make this work for me
I inventoried my white bakeware. Need to pack these up. I started taking pics of my miniature dolls that are in a small library cabinet upstairs in the Master Bedroom. I forgot how many small dolls I have. They will be relocated to a curio cabinet that will sit in one of the bedrooms at the COTTAGE. Figuring this out as I go.
Hubby is working over at the COTTAGE tending to plumbing issues. I hope the Bathroom is up and going by the end of February. I'll continue packing small items to where they are ready to move. I'd like to get out of the main house before doing touch up projects around the property.
Having the COTTAGE all done before we move in isn't going to happen. We will be moving into the fixer upper COTTAGE in the SPRING. Lord willing.
As many times as I have relocated, I should THINK this moving process is a piece of cake, but I don't. I know it takes time and labor making the preparations to relocate. Should I write a book? This process is what it is. I mustn't get down about the weather or the slowness of remodeling. It is what it is. One day closer to SPRING!

Ed Ames - My Cup Runneth Over (1967)
THIS SONG is from a gentler time when music wasn't into head banging and blowing one's eardrums out. Songs were gentler in 1967. Easy to listen to and calmed one's nerves. My Cup Runneth Over sang by Ed Ames in 1967 made listening to the radio a pleasant experience. Ed was a television celebrity when he played Mingo on the Daniel Boone show. He wasn't Native American, but looked the part. He is actually Jewish and grew up singing with his brothers. Being the youngest of nine children, he studied classical and opera music. He has an awesome singing voice.
BUSY, BUSY DAY. Kept my energy level high all day. Now I am tired and I know I will feel the fallout from being too busy later today. I had a wonderfully busy day though and I have to have these every once in awhile. Makes me happy. I will have to pace myself and take LIFE a tad bit slower to make up for being overly active. Recoup some strength back.
Terribly cold today. TIS WINTER. Was so gloomy looking outside today that I marveled at the geese I saw flying over head. Beautiful sight to see on this dreary day.
Started my day by packing some dishes then took a shower before planning a super busy day with hubs. Had a business meeting with my hubby.
Bundled up and off we went.
Fueled the car.
Drove to the BANK across the river.
Paid a utility bill.
Picked up some mail.
Drove to St. Marys for a Rachel Salad, a Almond Milk Steamer and shop 37 PINE because I had a coupon.
My Cup Runneth Over sign was purchased. Will hang in COTTAGE by coffee bar.
When I checked out, the salesclerk had mentioned that she had listened to Ed Ames's song, "My Cup Runneth Over" just that morning. I remembered the song, thinking it is a beautiful song from the past.
Drove to TOPEKA to shop at Home Depot, get a Starbuck's unsweetened Iced Green Tea, drop off a wool coat at the Dry Cleaners, pay the mortgage, stop off at OFFICE MAX for computer paper and sheet protectors. Go to GOD's STOREHOUSE, Menards and SAMS.Drive back to small town America for pizza and work on the COTTAGE before returning to our Main House.
Worked on paperwork, researched on the computer and visited with my Sweetheart.
Now I am really tired.
Didn't get all of my shopping completed and will have to go to ALDI and WAL-MART later to get some bottled water, fruits and vegetables.
I am working at putting together a INVENTORY BINDER with pictures to keep record of our belongings. I've wanted to do this for a long time so I am squeezing in time to get this done when I can. I am one busy Lady while this remodeling is going on and downsizing is taking place. Makes my head spin.
The week has flown once again. FRIDAY! already. Doesn't seem possible. Hubby plans to continue working on the COTTAGE's plumbing under the house. I'll continue to wrap and pack belongings. We made a path through the dining room to shuffle the two curio cabinets. Tomorrow perhaps we'll get these moved as I have to make a way through the Living room. Still shredding papers. Drat.
Still taking pictures of cookware, bake ware, dishes, dolls. Then I wrap and pack. Bought some more moving boxes and bubble wrap. AND AWAY I GO!
I believe I will drink some BONE BROTH this week-end. Weight LOSS is stuck AGAIN. I have a challenge losing weight as I am hypothyroid without a thyroid and insulin resistant. I am broken.
I need some help in the weight loss department, the energy department, the downsizing department, the packing department, the fill in the blank department. May our cups runneth over with LOVE,

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS
SELECTING THE CORRECT SIZE CHANDY TO USE IN A ROOM MADE EASY. FORMULA MEASUREMENTS: Measure the room's height and width. Add together the numbers. Example: 8' x 10' room is 8 plus 10= 18" Use a 18" wide chandy. OR Take width of room calculating 2" for every foot. Example: 15' wide room. Take 15 times 2 = 30. Room needs 30" wide chandy. Standard distance between the bottom of the chandelier to the top of the table is 30 inches. When hanging the chandelier, make sure to hang it at the proper height. The bottom of a chandelier over a dining table or kitchen island should hang 30 to 32 inches above the top of the table or island. Most rooms call for at least 7 feet of space between the bottom of the chandelier and the floor.
