SWEET SATURDAY!

WHAT A PLEASANT DAY THIS DAY HAS BEEN.  We rose early to go get our Grand daughter and take her with us to go see my Mom who is my Grand's Great Grandma in Marion.  The drive and weather were very pleasant.  We made plans to leave around 4 in the afternoon early to avoid tornado weather that was suppose to blow in around 6 or 7 in the evening.

Mom was ready when we arrived.  We hugged.  Exchanging Mother Day Cards we gave her some flowers from our yard and a box I had wrapped up to mail to her then changed my mind and thought it would be nice to drive over to see her and take her out to eat.  I haven't seen her close to a year.

She likes a restaurant over in Florence.  There were no lines and their special for the day was a dinner salad, roast beef, mashed potatoes with brown gravy, beets, dinner roll and a small piece of red velvet cake.  I drank water and ordered the special.  I skipped eating the dessert and enjoyed the meal.  

After Lunch we drove around the town of Florence and went by to the old HARVEY HOUSE which is now a museum.  This HARVEY HOUSE was Mister Harvey's first HARVEY HOUSE.  I'll have to return again and tour the museum.  It's been years since I went there.  Still in very nice shape.

Florence, Kansas is a very small community these days even with an OPERA HOUSE.  Florence is a city in Marion County, Kansas, United States. The city was named after the daughter of the third Governor of Kansas Samuel J. Crawford. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 465. It is located at the intersection of U.S. Route 50 and U.S. Route 77 highways.

I enjoy looking at HOMES and buildings in towns.  This one is a beauty.  I wonder what is inside?  I can admire the outside.

From here we went to see my oldest brother who is in a HOME where we cannot enter inside, but communicated through a glass door/window.  Difficult to hear him, but got to see him in person.

I cannot remember the last time I saw him.  He had grown a beard and let his hair grow out since the Pandemic.  Good to see him even if he is hairy.

Said Hello and Goodbye in the heat of the day.  Took a drive about town and stopped at an Antique Store looking for old doors for the cottage.  No luck.

We went to the cemetery where my Dad is buried.

Returned Mom Home and visited for a spell.  Then we said bye, hugged and drove HOME.  Had a very nice DAY.  

When we arrived HOME, greeting us were a few more Irises that had bloomed.  So pretty.

SUPPER TIME.  Grand and her Grandpa 

made HOMEMADE PIZZA together.  

It turned out super.  A super supper.

We were watching a decent movie when we heard the TORNADO SIRENS go off.  The adrenaline starts pumping.  I shut the French doors uttering some prayers, grabbed my computer, handbag, slipped my shoes on, grabbed some flashlights and we all went to the BASEMENT huddling in the safest place.

Wireless service comes in very handy when sitting out a storm.  Our computers were turned on and I went to the weather station on facebook for live stream.  We were in a tornado watch/turned warning.  Granddaughter called her Mom and we all prayed together.  Grand could talk to her Mom while we waited out the storm.

When the coast was cleared, we returned to the living room and finished watching the movie.  It had a happy ending and I felt blessed for being safe and sound in our HOME.

Lights out.  We had an exciting evening and I pray that the storm passes on by.  She's still grumbling and rumbling outside.  Hush now.  Time to get some shut eye.
