MIDDLE OF THE WEEK

MORNIN' LOVELY.  I slept so well last night that it took the edge off of being sluggish in the morning.  This beautiful day has started with over cast, grey skies and humidity with hopes of some rain to cool things off.  I went ahead and walked out on the porch this morning in my pink housecoat to get a feel for the temperature.

Still HOT at 77 degrees with a chance of rain.  It feels hotter than 77 with this humidity.  Stifling. Hubby is outside mowing a different section of the yard.  He said he'd have coffee with me when he comes inside to cool off.  He is working hard to get the yard back to looking like somebody cares.

I think he'll continue to get up early in the mornings when the heat isn't over 80 to do yard work. The hedge of box woods we planted 3 years ago haven't done well as many of them died from winter frost so they will be pulled up and cleared out of the bed.  It looks awful having so many dead, yellow box woods in with some green ones.  The healthy ones will go elsewhere on our property.  We don't want to buy any more of this type of boxwood as it isn't hardy enough for this part of Kansas.  Last year we replaced the ones that didn't make it.  This probably would be a yearly event with this particular type of plant.  At $40 a pop per plant there are other things we want to do with the money.

We'll clear the plants out of the front bed a little at a time and work the soil over.  Not sure yet, but we are giving it much thought what to plant back in this bed.  Irises that we already own are calling our name.  There have been Irises in this bed before and they did well sooooo I think we'll give it another try to beautify the yard.

It's been so hot this Summer.  I use the wash machine to do laundry at a certain time of day.  I was taught that electrical appliances such as a washing machine should not be used in the middle of the day.  Tis best to use when there are not so many others using power.  Cuts the expense of the electricity.  I usually use the machine early in the morning so I need to get a load in.

Plans for the day.
Laundry.
Bills looked over.
Items taken to the storage unit.
Finish organizing the Kitchen Cabinet.
Paper work.
Shuffling boxes on the main floor.
Fixing a cool salad.
Coffee Break.
Writing Mom a letter.
Decluttering the house.
Clean the box of miniature kerosene lamps.
TV time.
Devotions.
Shaving my legs for this.
Reading.
Tis Wednesday and the trash needs placed out at the curb as the Sanitation workers come early on Thursday.
What ever else comes to mind.

I cannot get the Living room and Dining room tidied just yet as the "Attic" at the storage unit is still being arranged.  My sanity is going mad amongst the messes.  I'm incredibly moody. Between the heat and the messy house, I'm seeing red.

Time to get a move on.

JIBBER JABBER, BROKEN GLASS and GREAT GRANDMA ALLIE

THE TIME CHANGE HAS HAD AN AFFECT ON ME liken to so many others.  Very tired.  The weather is beautiful today at 66 degrees with blue skies and no wind.  GORGEOUS DAY.  I can expect an early sunset on the Prairie horizon.  It'll be dark by 6:30 PM.

I went walking around 3 this afternoon then took a drive about town to cool off.  I walked 5 laps around the track and struggled to make it today as my hip and knee were worn from walking previously yesterday and the day before.  I warmed up and the knee stopped aching.  The hip, well that took a little longer.  I suppose until I get my body broke back in from walking will take some effort.  TODAY, it took me a good 30 minutes to make 5 laps.  I am determined to walk each day this month except around THANKSGIVING.  Then I'll take a HOLIDAY BREAK.

JUST NOW, I let out a high shrill of a scream that came from deep within my belly as I am typing and sitting in my recliner.  Glass just flew into the room through the door's window with the end of a porch post sticking through the window.  Hubby has been working on the front porch posts AND one of the post came through the antique glass on the door faster than lightning.  Scared me half to death.😖  There goes my heart kurplunk.  Welp, this just means I get different front doors sooner than later.

I hate accidents.  I had hoped to save the antique glass that looks like lace, but that's not going to happen now.  Take a deep breath and sigh.  I'll live.  I was going to have this antique lace glass framed and then hang it in the Living room window after different doors are purchased.  I'll just have to get an old stained glass window to replace this idea.  Nobody is hurt and that's the important thing.  Now for clean-up.

THIS WEEK.  My GOAL is to have the TV room completely cleared of BOXES.  What a goal to have.  I have been boxing up books that will go to storage as the shelf space where they were is now where my dolls are sitting.  I have three units.  One for dolls, one for framed family photos and one for quilts and bedding.  Looking good.  Now if I can get all the books reboxed into extra small boxes, I will have made another dent in this task.  I hit a moment that I felt like I cannot lift one more thing.  I am only human, huh?

This settling-in-thing is a beast.  Heavens, it's awful.
This isn't the end of the world.  I have to take the emotions out of this and forge ahead, but I sense the emotions still on the back burner.  Going down memory lane creeps in.  I found a Sugar Cookie Recipe that was my Great Grandma's.  I'm going to try it.  She was a small woman that was a farmer's wife, had a large family, never left the house without wearing a brooch at her neck, walked with her arms behind her back, and went by the name of Allie.  She was married less than 50 years when her Husband died.  She had pull down shades in her house and disliked curtains as she felt they made the interior of her home too dark.  She loved Lilacs and Irises like I do.

My Grandpa ran her farm after his Dad passed away and my Aunt lived with her for over ten years as a child where they slept outside all Summer long.  Arthritis struck her body putting her in a wheel chair.  She was determined to walk again so she pushed a chair about to help her and eventually she would walk again without the chair.  I think my Mom must take after her Grandma as she is one determined woman as well.

GG Allie was close to 90 years old when she went to heaven.

This was an interesting read to me as I did not know her, but she was family.

ON THE HOME FRONT.  Synchronized tidying will take place in the Living room and Dining room.  Wish I had some short cuts on how to do this quickly, but I DON'T.

🎄🎁 I work awhile and I sit awhile.  This morning I gathered small items for CHRISTMAS GIFTS for my girlfriends.  We get together to celebrate birthdays and Christmas each year.  This month, we're getting together to celebrate two of us.  I'll need a couple of gifts for their birthdays. Have the cards already.  As for the Christmas gifts, the little bags I bought came in a package and as I was opening them up, they appear to be worn.  Maybe I can touch up the marks with a red flare pen and use them anyways.  I need some tissue paper.  Not sure I have any in my wrapping paper stash.  Need to check.

At any rate, I'll have this much done and be ready for our luncheon in the middle of the month.

As I go through our STUFF, I still talk to myself about being a minimalist.  It is the way I need to be.  Amen and amen.

The religious books I have are grouped and placed in the other room's smaller bookcase that's beside the bed in the pink room.  This is orderly and I so long for this again.  This move made a complete mess out of everything and I do mean everything.  My body doesn't always want to work.  This morning my lower back started acting up and down I sat.

I weighed myself this morning as I do on Monday mornings. The scales are not budging.  Makes me go numb.  My breakfast today was a cup of HOT LEMON WATER with cayenne pepper. Snack was a dinner roll and a sugar-free strawberry candy.  Late lunch/early supper will be left over pizza and a salad.  Dessert will be a small ice cream cone.

I have been reading about weight loss again as I often do.  I believe the best way for me to lose weight is to avoid, meats, dairy and carbs.  It's a hard way to go, but I don't want to use Ozempic. A large variety of fruits and veggies are important.  I may eat lean proteins as I understand that one must have an increase in lean proteins and lower the carbs to lose weight.  Drink water and exercise.

Working on laundry, boxing books, organizing the fridge, putting canned goods away from our grocery shopping late last night and putting things away that are looking for new places to go.  I am tempted to take a nap.  I'll forge ahead and work on the boxes.  Tonight will be TV time for watching OFF GRID WITH DOUG AND STACY at 7 pm CST.  Wonder what he'll have to say?

Jibber Jabbering along.  God Bless and may we have a quiet and peaceable life.  Amen.

WAY TOO TIRED TO WASH THE DISHES BUT NOT TOO TIRED FOR ICE CREAM

AFTER YESTERDAY'S ACTIVITIES, I nearly fell over with fatigue.  I made a huge meatloaf with the trimmings and by the end of the evening, I was way too tired to clean-up the Supper mess.

Guess what?  The dirty dishes were waiting for me this morning.  grins.  I slept well and after I get a few things done this morning I will wash dishes.  Laundry is in and Breakfast done. Figured out that we can have leftover meatloaf for sandwiches for Lunch and Chili Baked Potatoes for Supper.

Hearing my Husband and our Son working on the front porch together is music to my ears. Occasionally there is the sound of laughter and the muffled conversation going on makes me happy.  Together they are working to complete our front porch.  The rebuild has been a big project to say the least.  Not only are they accomplishing building a much needed porch, they are making memories.

My part in all of this is to have meals, beverages and snacks for them when needed.

HUBBY and SON worked LATE into the night on the porch, which meant a late supper for them. The pots 'n pans and dishes were not washed.  No shame here.  Just good 'ole grace served up with a side dish of mercy.  No need to beat myself up on this one.  The MEAL was decent with the meat loaf turning out moist and tasty.  Very pleased.

I fixed my meatloaf different this time and was pleased with the outcome.  All ingredients except the beef were mixed and blended well in a bowl.  Spices of salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, small can of tomato paste, 2 eggs, 2 cups of bread crumbs, Italian spice, small amount of sugar-free ketch-up and BBQ sauce were mixed well then the 2 pounds of ground beef were added.  A splash of Half and Half was added to the mixture.  Well mixed and placed in my favorite glass meatloaf dish.  Baked it at 350 degrees for an hour then added the glaze topping of brown sugar, ketch-up and mustard.  Baked another 30 minutes then checked the internal temperature to make sure it was 160 degrees.  Allowed the loaf to sit for about a half an hour before the guys came inside for the night.

The thought of MOCK MEATLOAF came to mind.  After I mixed all the ingredients except the beef, it looked just like ground beef.  I might try making some later just to see how it turns out. During the Depression Days MOCK MEALS were made to feed a large family.  MOCK MEAT MEALS, mock pies.  Might try MOCK MEATBALLS as well.

Side dishes of baby potatoes and green peas with large carrot slices.  Dessert was ice cream. DRUMSTICKS.  Gosh, it was good.

All turned out well and I was pleased.

NO WALK TODAY.  Efforts are going into the front room.

I want to do some shuffling in the front bedroom before I stand at the Kitchen sink doing dishes. I stacked the dirty dishes in the sink just so so soooo they can soak in hot sudsy water for a little bit before they get taken care of.  The clean dishes in the drain rack were put away.  Game on.

Yesterday, the men worked all day on the porch and I mean all day.  By the end of the day, they had made huge progress.  The limestone porch foundation was finished and support boards are being laid for the actual porch.  PRAISE THE LORD.  This is coming along.

During the day, I did some laundry and tweaked items in the front bedroom.  Working in such a tight area adds challenges for me.  It is so tight it's difficult to move making more effort go into the task. More energy spent and when I don't have much energy in the first place it makes it even harder for me.  Not complaining just keeping it real.  Older bodies don't always work the best.

I managed to scoot the long work table across the room so I could get items on some bookshelves dealt with.  I gathered 5 boxed Barbies to get ready to turn loose.  Looked up their value.  I'll be trying to sell these later, but need to get some pics taken.

SO many boxes to go through.  Digging out from under STUFF my gorgeous pie table was found and placed on top of the work table with an antique wood chair.  Bedding was gathered and stacked together.  As I shuffle through things I'm grouping the items with like kind.  It would have been better if this were done right away with our move.

This move we made 2 years ago is what I call a dirty move as we didn't move in an organized fashion and things are all mixed up due to the lack of time we had when getting out of the house we were selling.  The brunt of the move was made by HUBBY AND ME alone.  What a work-out we had.  What a work out.

When this move is completed, my hope is that we are completely downsized to fit in the COTTAGE and everything will be in order.  Everything from papers to tools.  EVERYTHING.  It exhaust me to think about it.  Gotta keep moving and staying in motion.

Today, I hope to shuffle a whole lot of stuff and clear out the corner of the room so another book shelf can be placed there to put my quilts someplace other than the Dining room.  It's going to take some muscle and time to get to this point.  It's ongoing.  Having the folded quilts together will be an attractive display.

Are you going through something that is requiring great effort and time AND a whole lot of patience and planning?  Do you know you're older than you'd like to be wishing this was behind you?

God give us strength.

I may be too tired to wash the dishes, but never too tired for ice cream.  How's 'bout you?

JIBBER JABBER and then some

WAKING TO GREY SKIES WITH A CHILL IN THE AIR.  Still, it was extremely peaceful in the morning hours before traffic runs the streets.

Plans for the day are up in the air.  Laundry first chore of the day.  Waiting an hour before eating anything because of morning meds.  Avocado toast and hot tea for breakfast when the time is right.

I gathered up my party clothes this morning as I am going to lunch with my small circle of girl friends that I meet up with to celebrate one another's birthday plus this time of year we exchange small gifts for CHRISTMAS.  We'll go to a theatrical play after we eat.  We'll catch up on events taking place in our busy lives.  One is ill and won't be attending.  I think she has CO vid.  Again. She's having issues breathing.  Praying.

Afterwards, I'll go to the Dollar Store before returning HOME to decorate the porch.  This week to come, I will work on Christmas Cards each day until finished.  We are still shuffling rooms and furniture to make a TV room.  We have this week to get this done before the week-end before CHRISTMAS comes.  Not sure if we'll get this done or not.  Hubby thinks we can.  Some anxiety about this.

Family is coming over next Sunday to celebrate Hubby's 70th Birthday, so I have to have the COTTAGE tidy.  Still so many boxes, piles of paper, stuff sitting around as we morph into how a house should be in order to live.  This DOWNSIZING is a work that we are still actively doing.  I guess it could be looked at as our NEWEST HOBBY.  grins.

Yesterday, I MANAGED TO WALK A MILE AROUND THE TRACK IN A MISTY RAIN.  The umbrella I was carrying would be pitched after my walk as it went from being alright to going inside out.  ha.  Several times the wind caught it just right for it to do this. Broken.

You're done.  It was easy to throw it away.  No holding on to this broken umbrella. No need to try to even repair it.

Took a drive about town, picked up the mail and returned HOME.  Discussed with Hubby about last minute Christmas decorating and what we might consider next year if we can.  He mentioned that we have an oversized wreath that he would like to hang in front of the house. Maybe we'll have some greenery on the house after all.

While inside, I continued to file papers, do laundry.  I wiped down the tall, metal rack that came into the house yesterday.  Placed my Geraniums on the shelves.  Hubby convinced me that we should use the rack for holding the overflow supplies from the Bathroom that are out of place due to the linen closet not being there yet.  Leave the geraniums on the floor.  I have high hopes for the Geraniums to survive the Winter indoors.  Plucking off the dead leaves took some time. I'm hopeful they will bounce back in their new location.

NAP.  Two and a half hour NAP.  When I woke, I felt somewhat refreshed.  Hubby had single handedly filled the metal rack and made the Kitchen better organized.  This is a lift to my spirits.

Worked on laundry and sorted through papers making some sense out of them.

I did well on a low cal diet today.  NO SWEETS.  BREAKFAST WAS LEMON WATER, HOT TEA AND REGULAR WATER.  LUNCH WAS A MUG OF HOT, CREAMY CHOCOLATE.  Supper was a hamburger steak with carmelized onions on top with a large simple salad to the side.  I know myself well as in the evenings I want to snack.  I didn't today.  No cookies, potato chips or candy.

🍿Not even popcorn.

WE WATCHED TWO MOVIES later in the evening.  SPIRITED and GREYHOUND.  Felt like a double feature.

TODAY IS A NEW DAY.
Praise God, it is a new one.

RUMBLING TRAINS AND BEING IGNORED

🛩 🚂 🛩 🚂 🛩 🚂 🛩 🚂 🛩 🚂 🛩 🚂 🛩 🚂 🛩 🚂 🛩 🚂 🛩 🚂 🛩 🚂 🛩 🚂

COOLER TEMPS OUTSIDE as I woke around 4 this morning.  I can hear rain falling watering down the out of doors.  It's a peaceful sound this morning without thunder and lightening.  I walked outside onto our porch to see everything drenched by the moisture.  The weather man says it's 56 degrees right now with a 70% chance of rain.  The rain came.  When vehicles travel down the street in front of the COTTAGE, I can hear the sloshing of water from under their tires as they pass by.  I won't be out walking this morning.  Maybe around 4 P.M. when it's windy and dry.

I'll use the car today to go to the Post Office.  I need to pay the City Bill as well.  A quick trip when it comes to this small town.

Sometime, I'd like to have someone deep clean the interior of my car.  There's a place over at TOPEKA that I can check with about this.  hummm.  Shall see.  Might surprise my Hubby with this.

I was very tired last night and went to bed early for me.  At 4:05 A.M. a train rumbled through town.  It's getting easier to ignore the sound which is a good thing for me as when I moved into this small community nearly 20 years ago the first time, I had a terrible time adjusting to their rumblings.

🚂 One Summer night I was awakened by a train traveling through blowing its horn so loud I thought the train was coming through our upstairs wall.  I bolted upright in the bed.  We're living at a further away distance than then.  It took me 7 years to get use to the trains being so close to our house.  I finally got use to it.  Enjoyed the adjustment for three more years until we had to move.

I have peace knowing we only have one medical appointment this week.  Praise the LORD.  I can stay HOME for a change and get some much needed work done.  Today, I have hopes of getting the china in the cabinet.  Shampooing my hair.  Doing some laundry.  General clean-up.  Read. Meals and dishes are a part of the day.  To be able to still do these things is a blessing that I need to count.

Hubs plans on continued shuffling of belongings.  He used our small canvas wagon to load the heavy cardboard boxes of dishes into the house so as to not hand carry them across the yard to the house.  Smart guy.  He thinks he has located and brought all the boxes that hold my Blue Willow china.  I hope so.  I will work at a steady pace today getting the dishes out and placing them in the cabinet.  It will be a delight to have them displayed in the antique china cabinet once again.  Can you believe it, it's been a little over a year since they have seen daylight?  That's a while.  I truly am slow, but some of this delay has been due to health issues and slowing down as I near 70 years of age.

We use our everyday white dishes and haven't had the need to use the other.  My china compliments my dining room though.  I have so many dishes, but these are my pride and joy.

Have mercy, there's another train rumbling through the town at 4:24 A.M.  Close to 20 minutes apart.  When I was babysitting this past week-end, the trains could be seen across the countryside and it seemed like there was a train every hour.  It makes me wonder what that are hauling?

🛩🛩🛩🛩🛩🛩🛩🛩🛩🛩🛩🛩🛩🛩🛩🛩🛩🛩🛩🛩🛩🛩🛩🛩

ON THE WORLD FRONT.  I still haven't heard back from my Representative about chem-trails.  I will contact the other Representative this week.  If the two of them completely ignore this little 'ole elderly, obese, white housewife then I will write letters to some Newspaper Editors.  Perhaps my Governor would reply.  Truthfully, I will fall through the cracks on this one as I am a nobody that cannot advance their political careers.  I could attend a so-called TOWN MEETING one day with my questions already printed on paper so I wouldn't forget what to ask and sound half way like I am somewhat intelligent.

Who in the government would I contact about questions concerning CHEM-TRAILS?

As the masses begin to grow and make some noise about CHEM-TRAILS and the harm they do to the landscape, crops, animals, soil, air quality and people's health...will it still be a hush-hush topic and the whistleblowers made to look like they are off their nut sort of speak?  It wouldn't be the first time would it?

I do believe.

IT'S BEEN AWHILE FOR AN EXTRA L O N G POST ON THE PRAIRIE ABOUT CELEBRATING LIFE, A THIRD BIRTHDAY, SIGNING WITH A UNIVERSITY and JIBBER JABBER,

JUNIOR BLOWING OUT HIS BIRTHDAY CANDLE

OH HEAVENS.
The day didn't go as planned, but managed to enjoy it anyways.  TODAY, will be a new opportunity to be blessed.

I didn't get my walk in on Tuesday as I fell asleep in my chair and decided I must have needed it.  Will attempt to go in the morning.  We had a important Birthday Party to attend.

We happily celebrated our grandson's 3rd birthday so our supper was provided with refreshments.

Spent time with family and had fellowship.  Very nice evening.

He was one excited little boy.  He's very animated when he talks, but this doesn't slow him down any as he knows exactly what he is talking about even if we do not fully understand his language.  He is getting better at pronouncing his words and we love him so much.

T
he week is busy, but that's alright.  Several out of town MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS, shopping, birthday party, signing with a University and shuffling boxes, racks and dishes.

I am slowly clearing out the crystal from the china cabinet and getting ready for BLUE WILLOW China to take its place.  One problem though.  When Hubby repaired the dining room floor in front of the china cabinet, it caused a different problem that we plan to take a look at.  The wood boards in front of the china cabinet are now raised where they shouldn't be and when you walk on it, the china cabinet shakes.  Oops.  Gotta fix this now.  Anything inside of the china cabinet will be unsafe in the piece of furniture.

THOUGHTS.  I'm more than ready to have order back in the Dining room.  I guess I can empty the small Library cabinet and place my crystal in it so I don't have to box it up.  Now that's an idea.  ✋PAUSE.  Everything changes.  CLICK.  Gave it some more thought and came up with this.  I'll empty the Library cabinet and place odds and ins in there like a Silver plated Tea Service, Antique Tea Leaf Dishes and a Chocolate Service Set.  All of these things were in the corner cabinet.

THE SLOPPY REALITY of how things are temporarily out of order as we SHUFFLE ALONG.  It is a pain and a half to have so many messes, so I must persevere and forge ahead in hopes of having ORDER once again.

I DID IT.  I took pictures of my collection of antique casserole dishes with lids, bubble wrapped the pieces and placed them in the drawers of the walnut chest.  Here they will be easy to access and if the time comes that I want to display them, then I will have to figure it all out.  For now, I believe I have found a solution for displaying the crystal pieces that I treasure.

Being in a tiny COTTAGE has many challenges and I am not immune when working at fitting in.  It's very difficult for me to feel at ease when I don't know where to go with my treasures.

My attitude will have to change so I am not stressed about this.  There are far worse things in life than not knowing where to put my belongings.

I'm thinking about CHRISTMAS and have hopes that the COTTAGE will truly look like civilized peeps live here instead of living in a warehouse.

Hubby managed to get one of our monster storage racks in the garage.  This has been an intense labor of LOVE.  Now to get the 5th one into the cellar and place HOLIDAY boxes on it.  Almost finished clearing the SHE SHED out so a overflow bedroom can go in there freeing up a room for a TV room meaning the Living room will shape up into a pretty Parlour.  Shazam.  I'm happy.

THOUGHTS ABOUT REMODELING.  After the HOLIDAYS, we will get serious about replacing the icky carpet that's here.  Hard telling how old it is.  Plain beige colored.  I can only imagine what shape the padding beneath it is in.  Yuck-o-la.  It's got to go.  The carpet is very worn down and horribly stained.  Beyond looking good or being clean.

2025 will be the beginning of our second year here.  I hope we get further along this second year than we did the first one.  With the Bathroom completed, we will be ready for a different room to get our hands on.  I think the Living room and Dining room will have the ceilings painted, the wall cracks patched then painted, crown molding hung and wainscoting put up in the Dining room.  The wood trim throughout around the windows and floor will need scraped and painted.  THEN somewhere in all this mess, the floor will be dealt with.  A deep sigh of relief for sure.

HUBBY has a medical appointment coming up at the end of the week.  Pray it goes well.

~d

Continuation.

We went shopping at HOBBY LOBBY where I let my hair down.

Usually always up.  Easier that way for me.

I seldom wear it this way.

Hubby took a pic.

This was the day that I was blessed to purchased velvet ribbon, twinkle lights and jingle bells all discounted for Christmas.

I can't help thinking about CHRISTMAS and how to keep it simple.  Getting to the place where we can even have a tree in the Living room means serious shuffling and moving large pieces of furniture throughout the house.  Makes me tired thinking about it.

I've been giving it so much thought to what needs to be done making this all happen.  Much prayer and thoughts are taking place for what seems like a quick fix to chaos.

Watched our granddaughter sign a letter of intent to run for Kansas State University at her school yesterday.  The entire school was invited as well as the community.  She has broken numerous school records and is the most decorated athlete in the history of the school program.

She ran before she walked.  Not kidding as I babysat her allowing her to hold onto the edges of the sofas and ottomans in the Family room and away she went.  Very quick I might add.  I have watched her grow up into a young lady.

Loving being a Grandma.

Last night, we went to the Movie Theatre to see HERE with Tom Hanks and Robin Wright.  My Husband surprised me and asked for a date.  We dined in by eating Hamburgers and drinking bottled water.  Nice date.  I was pleased that it was his idea and not mine.

The movie had a different spin on one room of a house throughout the years.  The story line kept moving so there was no time to get distracted and nod off.  I liked that it showed how people lived and life got in the way.

TODAY, the Insurance Inspector comes to check on the roof.  I'll walk to the post office for exercise as I need stamps and need to mail some cards and a small package to my Mom.  This afternoon I will write out some more Thanksgiving cards and get them ready to mail.

THANKFUL the sun is shining which helps to lift my spirits.

JIBBER JABBER

🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍁

WAKING AT A DECENT HOUR this morning, I was determined to get a great deal done because I will be HOME all day long.  Looking forward to this as I have had a full week of medical appointments and not yet done.  When I do go to my next out of town medical appointment that's in a city with stores, I want to purchase pomegranate for health reasons and a rebounder.

Just gently bouncing up and down on the rebounder for ONE MINUTE every hour will help with my lymph system.  I believe this will help with all kinds of health issues that plague me.  Eating healthier and sipping spring water will always HELP.

I've got to get around to the post office and mail a birthday card to my grandson who turns 15 this week.  Gosh 15.  🎂

Today while I'm out and about, I'll get some fresh air and some exercise on a cool day.  Thankful for the cooler temps.  Refreshing my AUTUMN soul.  🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁

ON THE HOME FRONT.  I decided that I want my vitamins and minerals easily accessible which means I need to have them out in open sight.  I know they need to be away from heat and sunshine, but I have a shelf in the Kitchen that is presently holding herbs and spices.  I'd like to do THE SHUFFLE and place my vits/mins on this shelf.  Will try living with it for awhile and see what I think.  Tadah.  Gonna do it.

Another round of clearing off the dining room table. THE catch-all.  This means I have to find a place to stash my antique Depression amber colored glass dishes with the Madrid pattern that have found their way to the table.  I love my dishes.  I truly do.

Got the pile of laundry folded and put away.  Another mound is appearing.  👚🧦👚🧦👚🧦👚🧦👚🧦👚🧦🧦🧦🧦🧦🧦🧦🧦

I CONFESS I have ate way too much chocolate HALLOWEEN CANDY.  I have overdosed on the candy vibe.  How do I feel about this?  Umm, I should be ashamed of myself, but I'm not.  I have the understanding that dark chocolate is good fer ya.  I must have a lot of good in me now.  🍫🍫🍫

Tonight I will balance it all out with a huge salad.

I remember one year where I had absolutely NO HALLOWEEN CANDY at all.  That was a while ago.  I think I can ignore the candy wrappers in my Longaberger basket that's holding the candy by the front door.

I will buy some packaged pretzels tomorrow so I have a give-away stash come OCTOBER 31st.  The Spooky HOUR comes and goes so quickly I sigh.  We'll go watch the trick-or-treaters parade on Main Street then come HOME and wait for the young ones to come by during the evening.  It's getting dark around 7 these days.  🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫

Better go and get some chores done.

Where Did You Go?

Peaceful day planned this Sunday as I think about much.  The month of AUGUST came to an end so quickly.

Days full of activity to where the days flew.

I've had time to think about rearranging my good dishes.  My BLUE WILLOW dishes are basically all in the two curio cabinets now, but need arranged to better suit me.  Still the Dining room table is covered with missed matched glass items that have to go somewhere other than where they are.  I had hopes to have the Dining room in order by the end of AUGUST, but I didn't make my deadline.  Keep forging ahead.

This week-end, I hope.

AUGUST held hours of going through boxes and getting more settled into our new location.

Went back and forth between the Cottage and this new house across the county line.

Beautiful Living room furniture
was delivered to our next to empty Living room.

THANKSGIVING dishes purchased and I'm truly looking forward to using them in AUTUMN.  A trip to Kansas City to drop off upholstery material to help with FIRE RECOVERY toward a couple of old Morris Chairs.

Still looking for additional fabric for a couple of antique Parlor chairs that need worked over.

Grandson turned three and we were blessed to be there to help celebrate.

A SURPRISE Birthday party for our Daughter-in-law turning 40.

An overnight visit with my Mom.

Mustn't forget that school started in August.

The Solar Eclipse took place across the U.S.

Horrible FLOODING in Texas due to a Hurricane named HARVEY caused devastation for so many.  It will takes months, possibly years to rebuild.

We celebrated our 43rd Wedding Anniversary as the month ended.

I was not able to make the long trip out West to see my ill Father-in-law that has stage 4 Lung cancer.  I am HOME resting.

AUGUST ENDED.

On September first my health took a turn and I'll have to make some important medical appointments to see just what is going on in my 'ole body.  Not looking forward to this, but not sure if I can put it off any longer.

SEPTEMBER IS HERE.  The leaves of trees are turning.  Seems early for Autumn.  The neighbor lady by the Cottage had a  wood pumpkin in her flowerbed.  She placed it there weeks ago.  The season is catching up with the decor.  Soon I'll be placing pumpkins about my HOME for seasonal flavor.

I have to work fast at what I am doing as the days pass so quickly as I move so slowly.

The new day will start and I will see what I can get done.

Saying my prayers,
d

Where Do You Start After A MOVE?

SLEEP WELL after a move.
I've heard the Bedroom should be the first room put together
after a move, so that it's the first thing you see in the morning upon waking and the last thing you see when retiring for the night.

CLEAN BEDDING and sweet dreams.

JIBBER JABBERING IN AUGUST

THIS WEEK I needed rest after months of being busier than I can put into words.  Rest I did...but need more time doing nothing.  So I soaked in the tub and couldn't get out.

It wasn't my ATTITUDE that kept me there.  I really couldn't get myself out of the tub.  This claw foot slipper tub is extra long and DEEP.  I could easily sit up, but couldn't get out.  So I sat in the bathroom until my rescuer came home from work and did a great deal of thinking about life......in the tub.  I had the best soak.  Drained the water and sat to air dry.  NEW BEAUTY TECHNIQUE USED BY THE STARS.  grins.  Drip dried skin.

Husband would be home soon and I knew he could help me climb out of this mammoth.  grins.  I think my tub days are over.  A soaking bath will have to be arranged with help getting out of the tub.  Showers from now on.

He came HOME and asked me if I wanted a cup of coffee in the tub.  Yes.  It was so relaxing.  ha.  COFFEE PLEASE.

I managed to get out of the tub clean as a whistle.

The midweek weather cooled and it makes LIFE nice with not so HOT temps.

As I drive between the towns of where we lived and where we are for now, the BUTTERFLIES have taken over with pollinating flowers.  They were so thick fluttering above the highway that many were lying dead on the asphalt pavement as vehicles and fragile creatures collided.

A few weeks ago, I noticed so many BUTTERFLIES in my yard that I stopped in my tracks noticing their fluttering about.  The BUTTERFLIES and cooler temps makes for a very nice combination of NATURE.

On the HOME FRONT.  Indoors.  Playing decorator having a headache.  THINK we have a workable solution as we wait for our MORRIS CHAIRS to get upholstered.  The smoke got them.  The wood frames have been cleaned and they are shipped off to an Upholsterer in Kansas City.

Remember These?

We have to purchase fabric.  The shopping begins next week as we'll be looking for material.

SLOWLY our HOME is being pieced together.  I have been rearranging books and pictures on the Living room book shelves.  The Dining room is screaming at me for attention so we have a place to sit.  Boxes filled with what nots are taking up floor space.  Hope to go through the rest of these boxes by SUNDAY.  Goal is to have the boxes out of there this week-end.

Filling up garage sale boxes.  Will have to find a place to store these until the day they disappear.

Living room is looking like a LIVING room.  Dining room almost. Kitchen almost.  Master Bedroom looks like a bedroom.  Guest room half there.  Doll room....needs attention.  WELP.  It's coming together.  Better have fun doing this...it's a work in progress.  Roll up my sleeves and get after it.

May you have a pleasant week-end.  I hope we do.  It's work moving no way you look at it.  It's work.

Blessings,
d

Pics To Follow

Smiling to where my cheeks hurt.  Can't wipe that grin off my face.  The Living room is cleared out and rearranged as best we can do for the moment.  Now we wait for NEW living room furniture to appear from Kansas City.  Much thought has gone into where to place the sofas and chairs.

WHEN it arrives, we'll have to rearrange the room to make it like we want it.  Pieces of furniture to shuffle elsewhere.  We moved the Sideboard that was in the entryway  elsewhere so the furniture deliverers would be able to bring the pieces through the front door into the Living room.

After we see first hand the actual furniture then we will select paint that's a coordinating color with the fabrics.

The last time I picked furniture from Ethan Allen was 17 years ago.  They gave us a computer generated drawing so we could better imagine the fabric on the sofa and chairs.  This go round no drawings.  All in our heads.

I am so hoping we like the results really really really well.  If we don't, I guess we will have to grow to like it.  gulp.

Pics to follow.
Stay tuned.

UPDATE:  Furniture arrived in the early morning hours on this rainy, grey Saturday.  Love it!  L O V E it.  Am so pleased with it I could twitch with excitement.  Smiling.

August In Flight

AUGUST will fly by before I know it and September will produce cooler nights with the leaves of trees starting to change color.  I'll have to find my artificial pumpkins and harvest garland to add a touch of FALL inside the house.  When the Trick-or-Treaters stop by, it'll seem like a time warp.  So much has transpired since last October.

Focus on the present.  HAVING high hopes of clearing out the living room boxes this week.  I just might have one day before the new furniture arrives where the living room is completely empty, swept and dusted.

VERY SLOWLY the room is taking shape.  S L O W L Y.
NEW Furniture is scheduled to be delivered early this month.  Preparations are being made on our end so we have an empty Living room.   Long time in the making.  We have about 12 boxes to go.  Started with about 500 boxes in the living room.  Not exaggerating.  Deep sigh.  IT HAS BEEN A GREAT DEAL OF WORK.  We have made progress.  TODAY, I felt like smiling because the boxes are disappearing.  THINGS are starting to make their way to the places they will remain.

Need to take a very long coffee break sitting in the screened in porch listening to the birds sing.  I await the moment.  I need it.  Three days and one evening went into unloading a storage unit filled with things from the rock house garage.  It was HOT messy work.  Made our deadline on clearing out the unit before AUGUST 1st.

STILL...later I'll be going through the boxes that were in the garage.  Another day, another project to complete.  Truthfully it will be closer to our one year anniversary since our house fire before all of this is done.

Huge relief,

Cooking In The New Kitchen

As I dig through the many boxes, my Husband is wearing the CHEF hat as he loves cooking.  I love that he loves to cook.  He cooks very well and I enjoy the meals.  I don't hesitate when he offers to prepare a meal.  Truly am pleased that I do not have to cook.

We're still working at making the rooms be the room it is suppose to be.  Tidying the Kitchen is on the agenda of things to do this month.

ALL IN A GREAT MEAL,

Thoughts

Almighty God helped me raise my children.
He cheered me on as a stay at home momma and full time wife.

HOMEMAKER.
Keeper of the Home.

God had my back.
I honored Him by wanting to please Him.

Not many told me I was doing a good thing, but God held me up.

I am grateful and know that He is the one that truly helped me through thick and thin.
I was never alone.
Never.

DECORATING

I knew a very frugal Lady named Edith that shared with me a excellent guideline for decorating. She said with ease, "If your room has clean ceilings, floors, and walls, and the windows have nice curtains, you'll have an attractive room."

John 3:7

“Marvel not that I said unto thee,

Ye must be born again.”

King James Version (KJV)

PSALM 118:17

I shall not die,
but live, and declare
the works of the Lord.

PROVERBS 24:3-4

By wisdom
a house is built,
and through understanding

it is established;
through
knowledge

its rooms are filled with rare

and beautiful treasures.

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS
SELECTING THE CORRECT SIZE CHANDY TO USE IN A ROOM MADE EASY. FORMULA MEASUREMENTS: Measure the room's height and width. Add together the numbers. Example: 8' x 10' room is 8 plus 10= 18" Use a 18" wide chandy. OR Take width of room calculating 2" for every foot. Example: 15' wide room. Take 15 times 2 = 30. Room needs 30" wide chandy. Standard distance between the bottom of the chandelier to the top of the table is 30 inches. When hanging the chandelier, make sure to hang it at the proper height. The bottom of a chandelier over a dining table or kitchen island should hang 30 to 32 inches above the top of the table or island. Most rooms call for at least 7 feet of space between the bottom of the chandelier and the floor.

WISHES

NO MATTER HOW BADLY YOU WISH with all your might that the something devastating that happened in your life hadn't happened and want so badly to go back in time to prevent it from happening...it isn't humanly possible to do this. You can't change the fact that it happened. IT DID. But JESUS can change the MEANING of what happened to you and give you PEACE. He can show you the way in which you are to go. God richly BLESS you. ~Deanna
