WITH MY FIRST CATARACT SURGERY COMING UP NEXT WEEK, I am slightly nervous. Not looking forward to this procedure, but know I need this done. Hubby will drive me the day and I will need his help afterwards and I think they will check on me shortly after the procedure then I can go HOME to rest. I'm counting on him for his help.
Friday evening, he had a acute PVD happen to him. About two years ago his left eye did this and he had three tears in his eye requiring emergency surgery. You do not want tears inside of your eye so he telephoned our Optometrist and made arrangements for an early morning eye exam. We went in around 7:30 and he does not have any tears, but an acute PVD is taking place. No surgery at the time.
He already has a Topeka eye appointment for Wednesday lined up that was scheduled 6 months ago so the timing is perfect for the specialist to look at his eyes. The timing on this is good, but if he has to have surgery it will challenge my first cataract surgery.
Without knowing what exactly was going on Friday night, I fell apart. Very upset. It seems like when something serious is going on that other serious things take place and to get through these events I have to navigate through several serious things at the same time. It wears me out. Bouncing back doesn't happen quickly.
Why dear Lord, is it this way? Serious discussion in session. Praying takes place and I have to lean on God. Still, I am human and sometimes I behave very much like a human. Weak and upset.
Since there are no tears at present, then we shall see what the Topeka doc says. I am bit stunned that he is alright. I was getting psyched up for him having to have emergency eye surgery and afterwards he'd have to stay still for a few weeks. No bending or lifting. No computer screen or tv.
As I sat in the doctor's office while Hubby's eyes were being checked, I came across a delicious sounding recipe for salmon in a Hy-Vee grocery store magazine. Think I will try it. We're suppose to eat wild caught fish a couple times a week for omega-3 and this recipe will help make that an easier possibility to enjoy.
BACK TO PREPPING THE HOUSE FOR MY EYE SURGERY. After we left the Optometrist office, we went to eat at IHOP for breakfast. I figured I could have their Avocado toast with cherry tomatoes and a side bowl of seasonal fruit. I drank water and did not eat the good looking toast that was served as I am on the Daniel Diet and avoiding breads.
I wanted the toast like mad, but was strong not eating it.
Afterwards, we went to Menards where I bought some paint clothes that I was going to turn into window treatments. Went to DOLLAR TREE for cheap laundry detergent and planned on using the jumbo wash machines in Wamego. Last time I used them, they were $4.oo a load. The at added a third machine at the Laundry-mat and each were now $6.oo a pop.
After opening the paint clothes packaging to look at the drop cloth, I noted the panel had a vertical seam across the drop cloth that would distract when hanging the cloth for a panel. Back they went to Menards to return. My brilliant idea of using paint drop clothes went by the wayside. Hubby had told me that he had some large paint clothes in a tub at the storage unit. So we went to look for them. Yep, when we opened the cloth up it had a seam as well. A no-go.
They are suppose to look something like these.
Will have to figure something else out. We have a beautiful rod with crystal ends to hang that was never used in the 1883 house. They were originally purchased to hang in the sunroom. Will install the rod and hang the panels that were hanging before until I figure something else out.
LUNCH was sweet potato fries. Water. This was very filling. SUPPER will be a large veggie salad with a little fruit in it. Still on Daniel Diet. Day 13. 8 more days. Can't wait. I've got my eye on what I will eat after I finish this round. My body feels different on this day. I can tell I am burning calories. It seems like every third day a pound comes off. There needs to be a 3500 calorie deficit to lose one pound. It seems like it takes me three days for this to take place.
Right now this is my sport. I am in training to get healthier and I hope the benefit of this is to be skinnier. grins. May it happen. I'll be adding lots more protein later with the use of chicken, turkey, fish, eggs, cottage cheese, bison and beef. I miss these items. I'll only have bread occasionally. Same with rice and pasta. Absolutely no white breads. This week-end, I'm working on laundry and tidying the Dining room. The dining room table will be assembled and the four dining chairs placed on top of it to where it is all scooted to the side of the room to make room for the recliner that I will use to recover from surgery in.
AFTER WE RESTED FOR THE AFTERNOON, Hubby installed the pretty rod with acrylic ends for the Dining room curtains. There's two windows that needed window treatments. Blinds went up then the rod and the old Buffalo Check curtains that I bought awhile back for el-cheap-o. They are fine for now and I'll figure something else for later, but for now as we dig ourselves out of boxes are just fine.
I've placed them by the front door in front of the bay window for the time being. With SPRING in 9 days, I will clear off the last effects of Christmas past that are on the porch. There's still a wreath on one of the doors and the urns have clippings of pine and spruces in them. I got my money's worth out of these as I bought them instead of a Christmas tree as we were in no shape at Christmas time to decorate.
If the weather warms up today, I will dump the urns so I can fill them with new soil for the flowers. Not sure I will bother with Easter wreaths this year. Maybe some flowering wreaths would be nice.
I am so ready for SPRING. So ready for gentle days with light blue skies and NO wind. Open up some windows for fresh air.
Back to dreaming about having a pretty yard and the house is fixed up inside and out really cute.
I will be reading PROVERBS 10 for today's devotion.
10 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.
2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.
3 The Lord will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.
4 He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.
5 He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.
6 Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
7 The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.
8 The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.
9 He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.
10 He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall.
11 The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
12 Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.
13 In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.
14 Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.
15 The rich man's wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty.
16 The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.
17 He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.
18 He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.
19 In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.
20 The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.
21 The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.
22 The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
23 It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.
24 The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.
25 As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.
26 As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.
27 The fear of the Lord prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
28 The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.
29 The way of the Lord is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.
30 The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.
31 The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out.
32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness.
Blessings to you,
~d
