NO GYM REQUIRED

FRIDAY.  What will this day bring?  The phone rang.  Twas my Mom.  She was asking if I would pick her up in Manhattan when my sister drives down for a funeral for a dear friend?  Yes. She'll telephone back with the details.

She did and since this is a one day trip, she changed her mind and is staying HOME.  I can now slow down my day about cleaning.  This would have been a 10 hour traveling trip in one day.  She made a wise decision to stay HOME.  I'm 70 and traveling 5 hours in one day was hard on my ole body and energy level.  Can only imagine what this does to an older vessel.

I will still work on laundry, clearing off the dining room table and tidying in the Kitchen.  What ever else comes to mind while I am walking about the COTTAGE.

The Kansas wind is blowing with cold temperatures outside hitting the high of 42 degrees at noon.  brrrr.  I shall stay indoors being comfortable with domestic work to do.  I just dusted some metal tea/coffee sets and placed them in a nice, heavy duty storage tub.  I had to do something with them as they lost their resting place in the Library case.  I've put my Tea Leaf Dishes in there.  The collection is growing.  PTL.

Tee-shirts galore are getting washed.  Aint that exciting. With each load finished and put away, I grow stronger.  Things like running behind in the laundry bother me and with this I get tired. Mental aerobics.  Funny, how digging into the bottom of a laundry basket has such power over me.  Ridiculous.

MENU:  Late Breakfast.  OATMEAL with almond milk, almond slivers and blueberries for BRUNCH.  A big salad for LUNCH.  SUPPER?  Roasted cauliflower and butter beans.

If we are to eat 4 to 5 veggies and fruit servings a day, I'm falling behind.  Still on the Daniel Diet/Fast until the 21st.  I have had a few cheat items during this time, but very few.  Last night we had supper over at our grandson and his new bride's HOME.  They made smash burgers on Hawaiian rolls with caramelized onions and potato slices.  I enjoyed my meal.  I wasn't about to say to them who graciously invited us into their new home that I couldn't eat what was prepared for me.  I kept my portions small.  Everything worked out just fine.  I was able to see their beautiful new house.

Now as I carry on with mindful eating, I will continue to eat the way I should as best I can all the time and be thankful.  Listening to my daughter and her daughter-in-law talk about food prep and items enlightens me and I learn as I go.

ON THE HOME FRONT:  Being inside all day long needs some adjustments for the body.

Petra shows some exercises to do at HOME to help with belly fat.  I'll give it a try.  These seem easy enough.  Just do them.  No GYM required.

Hold onto a counter raising knees up
to walk or jog in place.

 Push-ups against a counter.

Elbow to knee and switch.

Sit and stand up.
Up then sit.  Repeat.

Walking in place.

I'm going to print these images out and make a exercise notebook where I refer to these exercises without a GYM.

A key to a healthy mental and emotional LIFE is to have something to look forward to and have goals to work toward.  Amen.

In God I will trust.

It's getting NAP TIME so I shall close my eyes for a short time before returning to the chores. Amen.  Happy thoughts as I snooze.

We're one day closer to SPRING!

Carol Burnett Show exercise

LAUGHTER IS GOOD MEDICINE.  Carol Burnett captures the spotlight as a heavy set woman exercising in her HOME.  I'm not poking fun at anyone who is obese, but I can laugh at myself as I am obese and exercise at HOME using real Jack LaLanne videos.

If I can't laugh at myself then who can I laugh at?  Carol Burnett. Having a sense of humor is a game changer and is healthier than being a grump.

Here's to being healthier,

WEDNESDAY

THE WIND IS BLOWING.  This is my idea day in Kansas to where I can open the French doors that lead to the screened-in porch.  Freely the wind blows and I gladly embrace the sounds of nature.  Feeling the breeze is perfect weather conditions.  It's 75 degrees right now. Takes my breath away after being so cold a few weeks ago.  I can actually hear dried leaves breezing by, the wind and someone raking the yard.

I'm air drying my hair as I sit in my chair.  Early shower for me this morning.  My hair needed a good shampooing.  When I wash my hair these days, so much hair comes out.  I sigh. Just one of those things happening.  Having a few minutes to myself as Hubby went to the Bank and milked a cow.  This is what I call getting milk or moo juice.

I will be starting another list for what I need to visit with my physician about in April for a physical.  A super long list.  When I think about what to talk about, it frightens me that there are so many questions.  It'll help if when I think of something that I jot it down on an ongoing list.

From the crown of my head to the soles of my feet back to the crown.  Questions indeed.

It will be helpful to me to take a list with me when it's my turn to see him.  I usually have a list with me, so I don't forget things.  I have not been to the doctor for over a year.  Makes me smile. Between now and then, I hope to drop the weight I put on during 2020.  I will admit, I did not walk very much in 2020 as my foot were a nuisance.  The pain was awful.  Today, I am better, but occasionally my feet hurt.  If I can remember to ice them.  Now it's my back.  sigh.

Exercises for strengthening the back:

I watched a video on exercises that strengthen the back muscles.  I'll give it a whirl.  The discomfort seems to be moving around my body.  My back, my knee, my back, my feet, my back, my back, my back.  Losing weight would help all my joints.  This I know.

Getting the weight off is another thing altogether.  I have to exercise.  That's all there is to it.  The Jack Lalanne videos are in the mail.  I told my son and he laughed.  All kidding aside, here is my son who is a marathon runner.  100 miler under his belt and he laughs.

Another son, use to run, but has changed to disc golf.  A daughter that bicycles and runs.  All very active.  Their children the same.  As a child I was extremely active until age 6 when rheumatic fever caused me to have a heart murmur.  I slowed down.  I sometimes wonder where I'd be today if I hadn't gotten the fever.  It's better to not spend too many brain cells wondering, but dealing realistically with what I have to work with.

Part of my joint discomfort today is probably due to having rheumatic fever as a 6 year old child.  I was really very fortunate not to have issues with my joints until in my 60s.  I'll keep researching and reading about health issues because that is what I seem to like to do. Somewhere in my resume, I could slide in that I have experience in researching.  That's a stretch and a half.

A GRAND came over today to rake out the flowerbeds.  This is a huge help.  Was so good to see her.  We still social distance.

Welp, I'm off to do something and

won't that be a treat.

UNTIL THE DUST SETTLES

TIS RAINY TODAY.  Misting outside.  Temps are 52 degrees right now.  This is our early FALL.  AUTUMN will sneak in.  The trees are turning.  This entire week it's suppose to be cooler.  THAT'S COOL!!!  Meaning that's neat.  Meaning that's ALRIGHT.  Okay.

I'm almost giddy about this cool weather.  Opened windows allowing fresh air to come inside lifts my spirits.  It's not so HOT outside to where I can breathe deep.  Ragweed count is high, but the rain will help filter this weed pollen out.  I'm not sneezing, but my asthma is bothering me overtime.  Causes issues with breathing and energy levels.  Always something.

This is the week I will open the windows in our HOME and let some fresh air inside.  I have to go to RETIREMENT COTTAGE across the river to dry some bedding and towels in the clothes dryer.  I will definitely open some windows today to let fresh air in.  I'll clean the Kitchen cabinets and shuffle some stuff.  LORD help me be successful.

Yesterday, I ran out of Clorox Bleach so I made a very quick trip to DOLLAR GENERAL.  As I walked the aisle I picked up a few more exercise items.  I have a couple of nice plastic storage boxes to hold exercise items.  Hand Weights included.  Trying to be more organized.  Trying.

I still use heavy candle sticks like hand weights as I sit in my recliner. This month, I have plans to work at PLANKING, stretching and using hand weights.  Movement is important so I must keep moving.  Be in motion.  Eat eggs, drink protein drinks and eliminate more carbs from food intake.  Not all.  Cut back and increase veggies, chicken and turkey.  Less beef and pork.  I can do this.  I need to.  I have to.  I want to.  LORD, help me be successful in this.

No coffee since August 11th.  Almost a month without.  Pat myself on the back.  Congrats to my achievement!  Aiming to drink more Natural Spring Water.

I have thinned out much paperwork.  When will this end?  Sigh.  Keep going.  Stay Calm and Keep Going.  Hubby has covered the screened-in porch roof with a tarp until there is dry weather again.  He has a ways to go rebuilding this and doing repairs.  He is amazing.

I will continue to clean a little here and a little there around the house as the dust settles.  I am not keeping up.  Sigh.

Stay Calm and Keep Going,

ERNESTINE THE MAGNIFICENT

AUGUST FIRST.  Sounds like a great book to read.  It has happened again.  The first day of a new month then next thing I know it's the middle of the month inching toward the end of the month.  New month approaching.  Whalaah...she's here and it begins again.  A blessing to have lived another month.

A fresh canvas.  August 1, 2020.  What will I do with this month if all goes well?

I have plans to daily walking the stairs to get some exercise then stretching out on the floor to do some ERNESTINE SHEPHERD exercises.  Have you heard of Ernie?

Here she is at 74.

I heard of her a few years ago and didn't go anywhere with the news.  She is the oldest female body builder listed in the Guinness World Record also the Ripley's Believe It Or Not.  She's 84 years old as of June 16th.  Her Husband passed away last September.  She continues on.

Presently she is not competing but teaches classes and trains others.  I learned that if you build up your body and compete then you are considered a body builder.  If you work out and do not compete...I'm not sure what you are called.  Maybe fit.

  • Believes in encouragement, inspiration
  • and family support and lives by her mantra
  • ” Determined — Dedicated — Disciplined To Be Fit”
She is an inspiration to someone like me.  She dresses well put together even in her exercise clothing.  Hair fixed, beautiful nails, light make-up, jewelry, clean and fit woman.

You can check her out on facebook or web.  On facebook if you go to her videos, you can watch for yourself some of the exercises she does with ease.  Today is the day I will do some floor exercises.

MY GOAL is to walk.  With a great amount of prayer, I am aiming toward walking a hundred miles this year before my next birthday next Summer.  Drinking egg whites in my protein drinks.  Vitamins.  Lifting light weights as I sit.

Dear Lord, help me be successful.
I dedicate this to you.
In Jesus name.
Amen.

I am not competing with anyone.
I'm not.
Praise be,
d

DECORATING

I knew a very frugal Lady named Edith that shared with me a excellent guideline for decorating. She said with ease, "If your room has clean ceilings, floors, and walls, and the windows have nice curtains, you'll have an attractive room."

John 3:7

Marvel not that I said unto thee,

Ye must be born again.

King James Version (KJV)

PSALM 118:17

I shall not die,
but live, and declare
the works of the Lord.

PROVERBS 24:3-4

By wisdom
a house is built,
and through understanding

it is established;
through
knowledge

its rooms are filled with rare

and beautiful treasures.

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS
SELECTING THE CORRECT SIZE CHANDY TO USE IN A ROOM MADE EASY. FORMULA MEASUREMENTS: Measure the room's height and width. Add together the numbers. Example: 8' x 10' room is 8 plus 10= 18" Use a 18" wide chandy. OR Take width of room calculating 2" for every foot. Example: 15' wide room. Take 15 times 2 = 30. Room needs 30" wide chandy. Standard distance between the bottom of the chandelier to the top of the table is 30 inches. When hanging the chandelier, make sure to hang it at the proper height. The bottom of a chandelier over a dining table or kitchen island should hang 30 to 32 inches above the top of the table or island. Most rooms call for at least 7 feet of space between the bottom of the chandelier and the floor.

WISHES

NO MATTER HOW BADLY YOU WISH with all your might that the something devastating that happened in your life hadn't happened and want so badly to go back in time to prevent it from happening...it isn't humanly possible to do this. You can't change the fact that it happened. IT DID. But JESUS can change the MEANING of what happened to you and give you PEACE. He can show you the way in which you are to go. God richly BLESS you. ~Deanna
